I probably stayed here for the First Time 35 years ago.i still can remeber that Golda Meir had a Birthday Party with her Friends from New York.the Hotel has gone through Lot of changes. It requires again a Lot of Investment, but I think it is such a cashcow for Hilton, that with an occupancy of more than 90 % theY dont... More

A really nice looking hotel. But the prices are too high compared to the bad service they give you. Our room was disappointing and very expensive. The famous sunday brunch in Restaurant Peacock Alley was ordinary and not a " quintessential New York dining experience".

For an off season winter weekend the Waldorf is a bargain. Thanks to Citicard I had a coupon for two free weekends nights. I added another night on my own dime. Check-in is normally at 3pm and I arrived on Saturday morning around 12:30pm. I anxiously approached the check-in desk. The clerk assigned me a very nice corner room and... More

We arrived at the Waldorf after a fraught drive from JFK to be faced with a staircase into the lobby and a request from the doorman to take our own cases to the reception. When I pointed out that it was not possible for me to take 2 suitcases, hand luggage and an 85 year old disabled father up the... More

I'll admit, it's difficult to rationalize the cost of even the standard rooms at the Waldorf. But there is no denying that it is a part of the American story in many ways--and that alone makes it worthy of a sort of pilgrimage. As you would expect, the rooms of all tiers are well apportioned, with high end amenities and... More

The place is iconic of New York, but be there make you realize the real mean of the Hotel. This is my third time staying at the Waldorf in the past year and I don't think I'm going back. You hear the word Waldorf and you think classic elegance. The problem is the rooms are dated, it pains me to say this, it is a "has been". Location is great so I hope one day they refurbish but those... More

My husband and I could not have been happier with this hotel. The location was is walking distance of everything we wanted to see; Central Park, the shops on 5th Avenue, and so on. We were upgraded to a suite and the room was huge and beautiful. The lobby and public areas have been perfectly maintained to highlight it's original... More

This aging bastion of once grand hotel experiences is much past it's prime. The Grand Dame of high end NY hotels has retained the high prices for which she may have once qualified. How ever the aged dowager of the NY luxury hotel scene is long past her prime and in significant need of an up date. The service is... More

The lineage is hear. On the other hand, lineage simply is since it can't be changed retroactively. Certainly the location and the structure are a reminder of the importance of the place. But the Waldorf is like a lady or a gentleman of a certain age - best seen through the lens of nostalgia. Two of us were in town... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
