The lobbies and reception area of this iconic hotel live up to it's reputation. However it became Waldorf Hysteria at breakfast time. Guests clearing their own tables, every item of food, cutlery, crockery and drinks needed replenishing, We had to ask and then wait until whatever it was arrived.... they were just understaffed. In their pub restaurant on the corner... More

We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria for a week in May. It was fabulous in every way. Steeped in history, luxurious, elegant, excellent staff, excellent food, excellent location. Not cheap, and very different from some of the modern "luxury" american hotels that we've stayed in, but well worth the price and we look forward to staying here again.

We've stayed here several times in the past and know what to expect at the Waldorf. It is a classic hotel with top-notch service from staff and a lot of history. We had a great corner room with view of Lexington Avenue. They were setting up for their Sunday Brunch when we were checking out and would have loved to... More

The tour guide was very animated and knowledgeable about the hotel. You visit the various areas of the hotel and some "important" rooms, depending on availability There's a lot of history here. You finish up with a lunch at Oscars or the Peacock Alley Restaurant . This is new York, and you can do a lot better for lunch for... More

This is truly a classic hotel for me. The history of the hotel, the exterior design, the interior (mix of classic with modern touches) and of course the service. I have always found the attitude of staff is one of understated service......not over the top but attentive and always looking to make your stay that much better than you expect.... More

I arrived from a work week in Barcelona to a work week in Manhattan. The Waldorf is pure elegance. Each evening hosted a formal affair. People watching in the lobby makes the high price worth the visit. This is New York where most hotels are tiny. The Waldorf has the old world charm and with that still comes a tiny... More

In a nutshell, the hype and history are currently not worth the price. Our driver pulled up to the Park Ave entrance and a bellman could not be found. We lugged our luggage up the stairs into the lobby and joined an extraordinarily long queue to check in. As my husband waited in line, I inquired with the concierge regarding... More

My husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in September of 2014 and one of the things on his bucket list was to go to New York City before he passed. We flew to New York the week before Christmas and spent 5 nights at the Waldorf Astoria. The entry was gorgeous, the rooms were a little run down,... More
