I was looking for a lot more for the price and the hype. And I could not believe WIFI was extra. However, noce location, the housekeeping staff was very pleasant, and the drinks at the bars were nice and strong.

When I saw the rate of $229 per night for the fabled Waldorf-Astoria, I immediately booked it for two nights, no questions asked. We visit New York two to three times a year to visit my daughter and her family, and spend so little time in the room that it doesn’t make sense to shell out a lot of money... More

Room. Service. Ambience. -- all excellent. Yes there is some faded glory to it and an occasional frayed end or worn door, but that's part of the feel of the place--the history. King room was excellent but would be appreciated more outlets by bed for gadgets. Bathroom was wonderfully spacious with top kitchen classic fixtures. Great place to see and... More

This landmark hotel really does stand out as a beautiful, luxury hotel. The location is second to none. The cleanliness, room and bathroom top notch and we had a very enjoyable stay. The lobby in particular is a real Art Deco wonder. However, on checking out the impression was somewhat tainted by the very poor service I experienced upon checking... More

the hotel is run down (a little). Not terrible but there are several areas that could use updating. I know the hotel is very old and historical but they could update a few things. Overall a great stay. Great experience. Great location to lots that new York city has to offer. I would stay again.

Upon making my selection for a NYC hotel, I was bewildered by the number of reviewers that spoke poorly of the Iconic Waldorf Astoria , so much so that after making the reservation I almost called to cancel my hotel plans. I am VERY glad that I did chose to stay with them and look forward to my return trip... More

We had the pleasure of staying a night at this iconic hotel. We had had some problems at a different Waldorf property previously so I was apprehensive, but this place was wonderful. Check-in took a little bit more time than usual, but from the valet to the front desk, all interactions were positive. Our room was a very large king... More

Room was spacious and clean, bed comfy, towels average. TV selections were ok. Room did show a bit of wear. Hotel location is wonderful for those travelling into Grand Central. Didn't care for the quality or scent of the amenities. There is great history here, which is why we were excited to stay here. If you are a traveler that... More

Dear SherlockMiles, Thank you for choosing the Waldorf Astoria as your host for your recent visit to New York City. I am glad to see that you enjoyed your stay with us for the most part, though I do regret that you described a less-than-stellar service experience at one of our restaurants. I will be certain to pass this feedback... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
