This hotel is exactly what you would expect ." Old world glamour oozes " from the decor to the service . The atmosphere is brilliant as the hotel is bustling with guests checking in or enjoying cocktails or fabulous food The only critisism was the check in . I know it's Christmas and very busy however when guests are queuing... More

Let me begin by saying I had extremely high expectations for the hotel. I really did. But then it started going wrong. The receptionist had the speed of a sloth, and it took us half an hour just to check in. After that, the bell boy took over HALF AN HOUR!!! to bring our luggage up. It's not that much... More

Great location. Booked for a 60th birthday and family reunion. Was planning a stay at a majestic hotel. Unfortunately a vintage hotel does not offer the same quality as a vintage wine. The room was reasonable in size, but very dated. Everything needed change from the drapes to the carpet. The lobby is grand and impressive with a particularly interesting... More

We really wanted to love our stay at the Waldorf, but it just didn't live up to our expectations. We arrived about 10 am and told the room would not be ready until 3pm. They held our luggage while we walked about the city and then came back around 3:30. The line was intense. With only three people working the... More

I was a bit leery about booking here due to some of the reviews saying the rooms were "tired" or "worn out". But my wife had wanted to experience "The Waldorf". Beautiful, as expected, upon arriving in the lobby. I was pleasantly surprised that the room was perfect. Clean, neat. Not particularly "modern", but consistent with a grand old hotel... More

The room was big and cozy but a little bit old I thought. The meal was ok but if you want to have a good meal , there is a really great breakfast place across the hotel. National is the name of the cafe, soooo good pancakes, omelets etc... Costed like 100 dollars for one breakfast but it's worth it.

Dear Meguminboo, Thank you for your review of our hotel and of course for staying with us. I am so happy the room size exceeded what you anticipated. As veteran Waldorf guests will recognize, many of our rooms have enormous appeal in terms of size. We admittedly are not the lacquer and black glass look- much more traditional. Thank you... More

...who still dresses to the nines, puts on all her makeup, and never leaves the house without matching shoes and purse: She's lovely and looks beautiful but she's still old and wrinkled. Delighted to have enough points to get a night free on the weekend before Christmas - and had reasonable expectations based on reviews here. My hubby and I... More

Dear Stefmo, Great review in terms of clarity. I really appreciate it. Too many positives and negatives to respond to in such a forum. A couple thoughts: Agree with the bed comment; so comfortable. I am responding to another review today which criticized them and I was surprised. We get many compliments. Front desk- we have always avoided rope and... More

Very grand hotel with impressive decor in the communal and public areas of the hotel. The staff and service we received whilst there was second to non but you certainly pay for it ($20 for a glass (Ravenswood) of wine in the hotel bar, $8 for a bottle of water in the mini bar and $249 for a transfer to... My family spent top dollar to stay at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. We stay every year at different hotels in New York that are less expensive and this stay at the Waldorf was not as pleasant. Don't get me wrong, it is the Waldorf so it is nice and certainly top notch, however; our stay was less... More

Dear Joseph L, I am truly sorry we did not live up to expectations. Our goal would be to break the cycle of trying various hotels and we did not do that. new York is a special destination and our goal is to be the best part of the trip. Happy Holidays to the family. It sounds like you have... More

I knew going in from reading the reviews that staying at the Waldorf was more for the experience than for the comfort. Though, I did expect certain guidelines to be met and was a bit disappointed. First, the hotel itself is magnificent, walking into the lobby felt like I was in Grand Old New York. The lobby itself is breathtakingly... More

Dear Krystale B, Thank goodness for our impressive lobby and the inspirational setting. Yet obviously we cannot be resting on those aspects. Most disappointing to read the issues with water and the amenity. conversed would have displayed a more proactive approach. I will dig into the water issue. Of course no one on our team should indicate the result you... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
