The trouble with a legacy hotel is striking the balance between history and service vs old and boring. The Waldorf Astoria is the table of old people at a wedding who are unmistakably nice, you drop by to say hello for a few minutes but you realize staying at the table is a sure fire way to waste the night.... A special trip to New York so stay at the Waldorf Towers. Very disappointed. The scaffolding around the 50th Street entrance does not make the entrance feel special. The room not ready when we arrived (at the 1500 hours correct time). Our room, No 4008 not a suite as most of the profile pictures show. $500 per night for an... More

Before we went we were really looking forward to staying in this famous hotel and it didn't disappoint. It had a brilliant location, about 10 minutes walk from Times Square. The hotel was elegant, the lobby was outstanding and the staff couldn't do more to help you. We also had a brilliant view of the Chrysler building which was the... More

If you get a chance to stay here, do it! I We got this room cheap for NYC standards through priceline and it was a lot of fun staying at a movie hotel and one that was the talk of the town. The staff from the cleaning staff to the front desk are friendly and willing to help. I would... More

We travelled to a few US cities during our September holiday, and I was anticipating The Waldorf to be one of the big splurge high points of our trip. I have to say we were disappointed. Now we would be probably middle class, so not rich, and thus did not have one of the more expensive rooms, so perhaps as... More

Charming historic hotel in the heart of the City. Clean and well cared for rooms with comfortable bed and spacious bath tub. Walking distance from St Patrick's Cathedral (one block), NBC studios and Rockefeller Center/Plaza, Saks Fifth Avenue (2 blocks), Met. Museum of Modern Art, and Grand Central Station to mention a few. Excellent customer service and the cleaning staff... More

I stayed here for a two day conference. Check in was efficient. Room was nice and clean. If you're doing business in midtown, it's a great location. Food in the restaurants and for room service is ridiculously expensive ($45 for a breakfast buffet?), but there is good takeout nearby. Love the historic photos.

Great hotel with a fantastic history which was amazing to read about and see the pictures all around the place..from the grand entrance stairs to the Waldorf clock in the reception, the place oozed grandeur and splendour..
