We were travelling to New York City for seven days and wanted to stay somewhere, historical, central and memorable, so settled on the towers of the Waldorf Astoria. No doubt the Waldorf Astoria is a fabulous hotel. Its history alone is fascinating and they do everything that you would expect of a hotel of this standing. Yes, the room was... More

We accommodated a week in Waldorf with my family. Rooms need renovation. Location is good, breakfast was very expensive (45 USD per person). Unfortunately there is no executive lounge, however lobby bar is very good. Especially after dinner, with a great piano you can have a nice drink until 1 am. Time to time it is an issue for finding... More

(Please note, this is a retrospective review. Date of visit May 2013) Wanna feel like royalty? Wanna indulge in a wee it of luxury? Sure you do. This is a world famous hotel. It's grand, it's opulent and its unashamedly pretentious. Now, we didn't spend a massive amount of time in the hotel. Why would you? You're in NYC! The... More

We stayed at the hotel for the last 2 nights of our honeymoon. It has always been on my bucket list to stay there and I wasn't disappointed. I love all the history behind NYC and the Waldorf is dripping in it! Everything from our booking, welcome and room were just perfect. All the staff were friendly and helpful and... More

A two day honeymoon stay is not a longterm assessment of the total ambiance of any hotel, and I had once briefly stayed in the Waldorf Astoria perhaps 20 years ago...but my expectations were exceeded. At the outset was the pricepoint for luxury. With name brand hotels in Manhattan charging about the same and often more than the Waldorf, I... More

Felt bad for staff who had to make up for the hotel's shortcomings. Could not check in early or even at regular check-in time. Wandered around and waited on long line for check-in text notification that finally came at 4:23pm. Not enough time to set up room for Hubby's birthday surprise. Furniture in suite old and worn. Fluid/liquid stains on... More

the line was long at check in and the staff wasn't sure of the dress code for the bulls and bears restaurant, however, the service and the restaurant and bar were excellent. Our room was a corner king room overlooking park avenue so it was an very nice view.

New York is an amazing city and if you are there and have plenty of money to spend Waldorf Astoria is a great choice. The only thing that was strange was the fact that many facilities are operated not in a way that you would expect and nobody was there to help me with that (lamp and windows for a... More

I recently had the pleasure of staying 10 days at the Waldorf Astoria in midtown off Park Ave. It remains one the ultimate New York experiences! If I closed my eyes, I was transported to the Gatsby era, with piano music wafting through the lobby from one of the lounges. Lingering over a sumptuous breakfast at the Bull and Bear... More

Unlike other historical hotels, the Waldorf doesn't seem shabby or dated. It flaunts its age beautifully, wearing gorgeous Art Deco interiors like vintage couture. The ornate lobby ceiling looks brand new, but of course no one makes things like that anymore. The incredible metal doors in every hallway look contemporary until you notice the incredible detail. Even the ordinary hardware... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
