The wow effect of the decor etc is huge. It is a very big hotel but you are not aware of this as you move around it. Check in was fine but our friend's room was miles away from ours despite having booked together and having emailed to ask for them to be close together. They did manage to find... More

I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC for a long weekend and had an exceptional stay! The room was full-on luxury, from the soft robe to the upscale toiletries. Would definitely stay here again. Nice location which is just a short walk from Grand Central Terminal.

Having visited other Waldorf Astoria properties I was expecting the usual over the top stay. I was very disappointed. Check in / check out were very anonymous, the rooms were SO OLD and even rusty in the bathrooms. We ended up paying for an upgrade just to be in a very standard average room overlooking the city. Breakfast was just... More

Dear ImpressiveInstant, As a veteran Waldorf traveler, it is difficult to read that our flagship property did not measure up to your expectations. Our goal would be to outshine past experiences at any other hotel, within our brand or not, and I can see that we were unable to do so. I do apologize; New York is a special destination,... More

I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria New York for 10 days in January 2015. At first I was given a room that I did not particularly like. I mentioned this at the reception and I was directed to a Manager, Julie. I explained my deslike to her and the next day I was assigned a lovely room, a corner suite... More

With a perfect mix of antique and new, the Waldorf is a must stay for travelers coming to NYC. The staff is wonderful, the rooms are spacious and the amenities are fantastic (and Sunday brunch was out of this world). Had high expectations which were met.

My husband and I stayed here with our friends for our 45th Wedding Anniversary. On arrival we were told that our rooms had been upgraded and we were each given a 20 dollar drink voucher to be used at one of their bars or restaurants. The hotel is lovely -- the public areas are beautiful. The lobby, reception, shopping area and corridors are stylish with beautiful carpeting and decor. Our room had 2 x queen size beds - very comfortable. The bathroom had a deep bath (as well as a powerful shower), although the plug didn't fit properly so the water ran out quickly! The... More

I stayed here for a conference and the location was great. The common spaces were great but our room category was low and the room was old and in need of a renovation and it was a low room that looked at a wall. Location was very convenient. I don't know if it was really worth the money.

Dear kwhalen13, Thank you for taking the time to submit your comments about our convenient location and stunning public areas! Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
