It's ok, staff are friendly and ok, you have to queue for 30 minutes to check in which isn't great. Furniture is very dated and rooms are very high up and give you the feeling that you are in Room 23! Location is excellent though, right next to the best of Madison Avenue and Fifth Avenue. WIFI is not free... More

This was a weekend to remember. The accommodations couldn't have been better for a romantic getaway in New York. The hotel was gorgeous and perfectly located situated off Park Ave. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed there one year ago. The room was BIG! Comfortable and clean! Need a little upgrade since the height of table didn't go well with the wire of kettle and I had to bother the staff to bring a patch board, very immediate service though, same to wifi connection. Elevator a little narrow but fine. Lobby always crowded. Had dinner... More

We had booked a suite in the hotel to celebrate a special occasion. The website says you can get access to your room from 3pm, and we arrived a bit early so we left our bags and grabbed some lunch, leaving our phone number so they could call if the room became available early. We went back to reception at... More

I'm sitting in the lobby area waiting for my flight back to Heathrow after spending a glorious week here. The hotel is beautiful and the standards are exactly as high as you would expect. The staff are warm, friendly and genuinely want to do everything they can to make your stay the best it can possibly be. If you want... More

This hotel is presumably part of the Hilton chain. Diamond members of Hilton honors have access to the executive lounge if available. We had used this hotel and lounge a few years ago, we needed meeting workspace in NY, so I contacted them again. The reservation department told me that they upgrade "all the time" for diamond members. Two hours... More

We spent three nights at the Waldorf Astoria during our trip through the USA. From the 21st till the 24th of March we had an extraordinary time at this establishment. At the check in, when pointing out that I suffer from claustrophobia and that I feel unwell in small rooms, I was upgraded (for free) to a more spacious room,... More

Dear OnTheRoad150301, The TripAdvisor info suggests international travel. How wonderful it is to read that we provided a comfortable "home away from home," especially since you were visiting from afar! We train our folks that a component of luxury service is based on discretion; providing elegant service without being obvious. I am thrilled to see that this detail made its... More

Was here for an evening meal event with 20+ diners. No one from the hotel really seemed to know what was happening, where light switches were, or anything. One table cover had a large grease mark in the middle of it - the hotel person responsible said that it was a problem she had been trying to deal with (should... More

Dear Clivel_98, Thank you for your review. I have yet to see a review on TripAdvisor that exclusively details an event experience here, not a stay! I appreciate you being so detailed in your response, this helps me to follow up internally so that we can ensure we are learning from our shortcomings. I hope we have the chance to... More

While the public areas still declare grandeur and beauty, the rooms are shabby, outdated and low below the standard of expectations from such class. Service is good. "traffic" in the public areas reminds of busy train station. Oscar serves the best breakfast in NY. Rates are not justified.

Dear ASG193, Thank you for your candid comments. The Waldorf experience is meant to be one that provides a luxury touch in all areas of your visit, and while I am thrilled to read that our service levels were a positive highlight of your review, the fact that you mentioned a less-than-stellar quality of room does not meet the expectation.... The Waldorf Astoria has a beautiful lobby featuring mosaics, marble pillars, and fine shopping. This hotel in an area of New York City that is in walking distance of Central Park, the Theater District, Times Square, and Rockefeller Center. The rooms are spacious, though they have not been remodeled for some time. Despite the older decor, the hotel has a... More

Dear C W, Thank you for your kind words about our beautiful lobby and the lovely room accommodation you enjoyed during your recent stay. Many of our rooms have a huge appeal in terms of size, which you will not find in many other hotels in our area. As I think you captured in your review, our hotel offers many... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
