Check in was at 3pm, we didn't receive our room until 5:30. Each time I checked for readiness never was an apology made that our rooms were not ready nor did they call us as they said they would when they were. The décor of this once grand hotel is pretty shabby and needs a major overhaul. We paid a... More

Stayed at Waldorf for two nights. As pointed out in some other reviews, there is some need for renovation in the rooms and the common areas. Though the lobby does take your breath away, it is a proper grand space in the heart of Manhattan. Our room was certainly old but very charming with a separate dressing area and a... More

Walking in, the guest is treated to grandeur of a bygone era, mosaic tile floors reminiscent of a Greek or roman temple. The walls and ceilings are decorated with amazing detail. Marble counters and dark wood accents. One really got a sense of the splendor of and grandeur. Indeed, this hotel has had quite a storied past. Service was attentive,... More

I booked a suite and didn't like it so i filed a complaint and we got immediately an upgrade to king suite which was much better. Good view over park avenue. But other than that the hotel rooms are old and really needs an renovation.

Dear Hami R, Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay at our hotel. Historic sophistication and modern luxuries are uniquely part of the same compelling experience at the Waldorf Astoria. Those who are looking for a black-lacquer-and-glass aesthetic are likely to be disappointed by our traditional setting, and we apologize that this was... More

One of a grand hotel in New York City .. A long queue for checking in..but what could you expect..it is a big hotel.. It has two entrances, from Park and Lexington Avenue and a grand lobby.. Six working elevators, so you don't have to wait too long to go up or down. Our room was big with two bathrooms.... More

Few hotels in the world summon up history, glamor and grandeur as much as the Waldorf (there is even a Muppet named after the place). The lobby has retained a lot of the original look which adds to the charm. The rooms themselves are a decent size, clean and comfortable but there is nothing particularly luxurious about them. There is... More

We were there for one night recently. The service was okay, but nothing legendary. The place seemed dated and frumpy. The Sunday brunch looked amazing, but we avoid the temptation to overeat that something that stunning would incite. It is well located and taxi drives certainly know where it is. .

A little pricey, but what do you expect? Lovely rooms, great service, historic, luxury hotel. In downtown Manhattan right near all tourists' shopping and theatre needs. A few qualms: we were looking forward to their highly advertised Sunday brunch-turns out they don't have it in the summer, so you have to go to lunch if you wait too long on... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
