Very welcoming hotel in a quiet area of Manhattan. Quite close to metro stations for ease of travel if you are not adverse to buzzing about underground to see all the sites. In my mind this is the only way to travel in this city, so long as you are dressed to walk and not for a posh evening out!... More

My boyfriend and I live in the city and decided to pop into the bar for an evening snack and a drink. While the service was pleasant and the atmosphere was beautiful, I wish I could turn back time. I made the mistake of ordering a simple salad that had a mozzarella cheese with it. Dear God, I am literally... More

Dear Guest, It is most unfortunate to hear of your recent poisoning incident. As soon I read your comments, I immediately looked into this matter. While some of our culinary offerings include various cheeses, we do not offer or serve mozzarella cheese. We have not been made aware of any other incidents, despite many cheese selections ordered during this month... More

Stayed Valentine's Day weekend with my wife - our experience was perfect - a well appointed room with excellent service and understated elegance with a very nice bar and resturant - we had Lunch and breakfast and the food was fabulous - a bit pricey - but expected as being on 64th and Madison with many designer boutiques like Chanel... Having stayed at the Plaza Athenee in the past, I can vouch for its ability to maintain the Old World style that sophisticated travelers demand. The service is stellar. The rooms are spacious but somewhat dated. But the refusal to update is part of the charm imbued in the European tradition.

have stayed here many times. Great location in New York and superior service. Really like the hotel a great deal and highly recommend. Not a cheap place to stay, but worth the price to stay here. Rooms are nice. Like to sit in the bar and read and observe,

Came on New Year's Day, cordial reception, and "show you to your room" experience was perfect, made even more so by being upgraded to a suite with 2 balconies. A bit too cold to enjoy. Well appointed rooms and fine service. 64th St is relatively peaceful and residential, though Madison Avenue shopping is a few yards away, with all the... More

This is a lovely boutique hotel. And though the building/guest rooms are a little older, this was one of the cleanest hotel rooms we have stayed in. Sometimes an older hotel = tired rooms, tired common areas and less than ideal cleanliness throughout but that was not the case here at all. The rooms themselves are nicely appointed. At our... Exquisite stay from the moment I entered the small marble lobby enveloped in verdure tapestry wall coverings. The concierge was attentive and gracious and upgraded my room midweek. New York was frigid but the cozy, elegant bar was a welcome retreat everyday after braving the arctic gusts. The best of Madison shopping is just steps away - as was my appointment... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
