I knew I should not have returned. I had been at the Hotel some weeks ago with a business associate and had planned to meet in the very mediocre restaurant at the Hotel as this was a place recommended. I was quickly turned away at 8:15am as I was told my dress code was not in line with the new... More

We stayed for three nights. We instantly liked the location - close to the fancy shops of Madison Avenue and close to good restaurants and museums. Check-in was smooth and our room was on the quiet back side of the hotel. No view though. Otherwise the room was very comfortable and luxurious with all the amenities that one would expect... More

I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Plaza Athenee with my 18 year old daughter. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed this hotel. I sometimes worry when I book through and outside source that the service will not be the same, but I felt like this was not the case. I requested a renovated room... More

I just returned from a 6 night stay with my two kids (11 and 7) at the Plaza Athenée in NYC. This hotel was amazing. The location couldn't be beat (loved that is was close to everything, but tugged away on a beautiful residential block), the room was beautiful, and the staff could not have been nicer. Everyone from the... More

The front desk had some training issues regarding the AMEX fine hotels program, but have to give the shout out to Sanjay, the restaurant manager. He is the very definition of customer service. Once alerted to the the problem, the front desk manager and the GM were very appropriate. The room was clean.

Stayed at the Plaza Athenee the last weekend of June 2015. I meet my spouse at the hotel after attending Yankees day game on Wednesday. I was turned away from the front desk, with a bouquet of flowers in my hand, and finally after showing my identifcation was given the room number. But this continued to be a problem during... More

While rooms are small, they are furnished with nothing but the best from the Bulgari soaps to fine linens on the beds. The wi-fi was good and the service from the moment you step in the doors, to sit down at the registration desk and leave top notch. Perfect for business travelers to the upper east side with so many... More

Enjoyed the beautiful French style property. Great service and spacious rooms. Wonderful amenities and outstanding location not far from the shops of Madison Avenue, as well as some great restaurants on the UES. A winner.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
