Great hotel in great neighborhood. Nice quiet location near all the fine shopping and sights but yet removed from the noise. The quality of the beds and pillows are wonderful. It was all the small touches that made my stay unforgettable. The staff, from the doorman (who always remembered me and always seemed to be there) to the General Manager,... More

Bottom line, if you're going to be stuck at a hotel in a blizzard, this isn't such a bad draw. But frankly, it could have been "perfecter" but it is hard to put my finger on why. But here is my stab at it. I understand that the hotel and it's Sister Hotel, the Plaza Athenee Paris, have "divorced" -... More

Treat yourself to this exquisite smaller highly personalized hotel in the French fashion. The restaurant offers excellent cuisine, we enjoyed a wonderful couples massage in our suite. Very attentive service. Finest amenities, memorable experience on the upper east side.

Even though we are New Yorkers, we decided to spend our first anniversary in NYC right after Christmas. We chose the Hotel Plaza Athenee because of it's excellent location. You can walk to Central Park and the shops of Madison Avenue and FIfth Avenue are close by. We loved the hotel's beauty, elegance and charm. We were welcomed warmly upon arrival,... More

This is an excellent hotel. I was in the city on business and found my stay to be perfect. I love the location of this hotel. It is on a nice quiet street, close the park and great restaurants. After a day running around, from call to call, it was such a pleasure to come back to this hotel in... More

The hotel is located in a quiet street close to the Central Park and Park and Madison Avenue. It is a beautiful and very traditional hotel with excellent staff. I also liked the hotel restaurant, which is smaller and private ( I recommend the French onion soup which is only listed on the room service menu but you can order... More

What an awful experience Super tired from a long flight, enter the hotel and I need to wait for twenty minutes before someone at the front desk can check me in. It was already 4 pm. And then i am told there are no rooms ready and I have to wait for an hour or so for something to become... More

The staff of the hotel could not have been nicer to us. We were traveling with our dog, who was also made very welcome. The doormen remembered us, and were helpful with a late checkout and valet parking. As noted by others, this is a perfectly located Upper East Side hotel. The room was fine. The in-hotel restaurant was an... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
