An iconic hotel at an amazing location. The lobby is nothing exciting; a little dead, dim and quiet. Tried a couple of rooms and finally got upgraded with a higher rate to a room with an amazing view of the central park and the east side. The in room dining was expensive but very exciting Indian cuisine choices.

Dear rezzman, We thank you for staying with us, and allowing us the opportunity to give you the Taj experience. Our centralized location is always a guest favorite, and we are happy that you agree. Being that we are a historic hotel rather than a new build, each of our rooms enjoys a unique layout. We are glad that you... More

We enjoyed everything about out stay at the Pierre. It's everything you would expect of old world elegance. The beds are sumptuous and plush and a good nights sleep is guaranteed. The staff is extremely helpful, gracious and pleasant. We did not have a view but had a good package for three nights so it was hard to complain. Walk... More

My best NYC hotel experience was staying at the Pierre. The staff greets you from check-in right up to the operators of the tended elevators. The history and ambiance of the hotel pervades the enitre experience. Truly a classic hotel in the grand style. I was especially fond of the nightly turn down service which included a fresh supply of... More

What a delight it was to stay on this hotel. Beats any 5 star experience in NY. They are polite , service oriented and even the bell boy does not overtly ask for tips. Great taj experience end to end ... Stayed at many top hotels but this was a delight

The Pierre has a long tradition for excellent in hospitality in New York and it certainly lives up to its name. First of all its location is amazing, in the center in the city and just across from Central Park. The view from the rooms is stunning. The hotel itself is very impressive with beautifully decorated rooms and luxurious bathrooms.... More

Why is it the best? 1. The bed! The best sleep in Manhattan! 2. The rooms are just what you want. Everything is where it should be and the bathrooms and amenities are perfect! 3. The staff are excellent, not intrusive, and very helpful! 4. The location! Value for price is very high!

Situated on the east side of the park at 61st and 5th Avenue, this is a European-style hotel, meaning that it does not have a grand lobby when you enter, like some big American chains, but instead breathes understated opulence. The hotel has the ambience of the 1920s (it was built in 1929), and the fixtures, architecture, and finishes all... More

We had a very good stay at The Pierre in April. While The Pierre certainly isn't cheap I don't know that any hotel with such amazing views of Central Park is. We had a park view room which was great. Although, for the same rate in most hotels you would get a larger room - even in Manhattan. Overall level... More

Although, The Pierre, is wonderfully located, the price of small, mediocre rooms are ridiculously expensive. The service is very good, and breakfast is wonderful. However, there are many other hotels in NYC with much better value. Ask for the kind of rom that you want. If its not to your liking, ask for a change. There are larger, nicer rooms.... More

Dear Phyllis M, We thank you for staying with us, and for your feedback. We agree that there are many phenomenal hotels in New York, however we believe that an experience with a Taj property is one of a kind. You can most certainly ask for a room change. However, it is dependent upon what is available. We welcome the... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
