Enjoy some time feeling like old money in this iconic hotel across from Central Park, handy to Barneys and everything fancy on Madison Avenue. The lobby is very elegant and low key, much beauty everywhere, but not flashy or trendy in any way at all. But unless you have lots of old money, don't order coffee in your room!!! It's... More

Aside from a fabulous location, this hot, as in warm, hotel is somehow depressing. The rooms are a nice size but the public spaces are oppressively uncomfortable from a temperature perspective. Both concierge associates on duty were somehow condescending in their conversations with guests. Other staff were accommodating but this hotel is severely dated in its presentation. Really an "old"... More

From the moment we checked in, The Pierre, now a Taj Hotel, was an absolute pleasure (thus the title, even though India is a democracy and doesn't have pashas!). I have stayed there many times over the past 30 or so years including when it was a Fairmont (I think that was the chain), and this time, unter Taj management,... More

I recently stayed at The Pierre for 5 nights with my mother. We came to NYC to check out the shopping, museums and restaurants. We found the staff at The Pierre to be very friendly and helpful. They upgraded us to a bigger room which was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, the floor they put us on (12th) had been freshly... More

The hotel, its location, the staff, rooms, restaurant.. Everything was simply perfect. Definitely want to stay here next time in NY. The rooms are luxurious and the bed was amazing. Never had a better night sleep that on that bed. Simply like sleeping on a cloud. The staff was very helpful and very polite. If I had anything to criticize,... More

The hotel made some mistakes on our recent four night stay (more on this later), so I thought to give it four stars. Then I realized this...The Pierre is a five star PLUS hotel, and the mistakes turned it into a five star hotel. I grew up in NY and visit there two-three times a year. This was a pure... More

The Pierre is your typical luxury hotel in a big city. Everything about my stay met my expectations of a 5-star hotel, so if you're looking for consistent luxury without surprises, then the Pierre may be for you. The Pierre is one of New York's grand dame hotels. Built in the 1920's, it offers some of the old atmosphere and... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
