We stayed here for one night booked on Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts and the moment from check-in to check-out everything was simply amazing. A perfect location right by Central Park and amazing shopping and restaurants/ museums etc. The young lady at check in was very gracious and they had upgraded us to a beautiful room on the higher floor.... We spent three nights at The Pierre. We absolutely loved it. The room was well appointed and spacious. Normally we find most hotel beds uncomfortable but this king sized bed was lovely. The bathroom was elegant, modern and clean. We appreciated the Molton Brown products as well the plush, oversized Egyptian cotton towels. Our room was quiet, a rare find... More

Too many hotels in Midtown are tired offerings, coasting on their location to grab the business travel dollar. The Pierre is a real exception to that (although its location is a little bit off of Midtown, but cabs are aplenty and there's a subway almost at its doorstep). Service is fantastic (you'll never have to press an elevator button) and... More

I spent two nights at The Pierre this week and can say unequivocally this is the most amazing hotel. My vacation was a quick getaway to the city with my mom and niece. The Pierre was the highlight of our trip. We arrived three hours prior to check in just to drop our luggage and the front desk not only... More

From checkin to checkout, this is the most incredible hotel. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and the hotel staff went over and beyond what us to be expected. The rooms are beautifully decorated, quiet and spacious. The bed linens are luxurious! The staff is extremely attentive. The location is top notch. Breakfast downstairs was yummy. If you are looking... More

This was my first visit to New York and the stay at the hotel was excellent. It is within walking distance to all the famous shops along the Fifth Avenue. Interesting to see the lifts to rooms being manned - the remains of the grand style. My room was very comfortable and food was good at the restaurant. The Central... More

We stayed for 5 nights at this superb hotel and were very sad to leave. All the staff were excellent without being at all obtrusive - everything was handled quietly, calmly and efficiently. Great location, just across from Central Park, close to galleries, restaurants, and with easy access to the subway network. Best hotel (of many) we've stayed in, in... More

We stayed at the Pierre from March 14-16 while in town to see Diana Krall. From the moment we pulled up at the door, to the moment we left for Laguardia, we were treated with the highest degree of service. They noted that the stay was a gift for my husband's birthday and offered us an upgrade. I have stayed... More

This hotel has been a NYC landmark since the 1920s and has always been known for elegance and luxury. Staying at this hotel is a definite pleasure and is an experience in luxury which is difficult to find elsewhere. From the door person to the reception personnel and the people operating the elevators for you, everyone smiles, inquires about your... More

No idea how this hotel has gotten such high ratings! Hotel looks nice and location is perfect (right across from Central Park), and gives impression of "fancy" hotel with elevator attendants with white gloves. However, when we arrived at our floor, it absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. The hallway smelled awful during our entire stay. We got to our room... More

Dear mray78 Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on TripAdvisor and I'm disheartened to read your comments. This is certainly not what The Pierre, A Taj Hotel strives for n'or is this our usual, or our best. I'd be extremely grateful if you would be so kind as to make contact with my assistant Ms Corie... Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
