on our last 8 days we moved uptown nearer to the museum mile. Less interesting restaurants here but great transport (bus and subway) to downtown east and west. Staff at hotel fabulous, nothing too much trouble. Small boutique with about 40 + rooms, small breakfast area with excellent array of food for all cultures. Extreme logistic management enabled all to... More

Room smaller than my bathroom at home. Bathroom unbelievably tiny, you had to hold your hand over your head to turn around in the shower stall. Never again.

Thank you for your direct feedback. You are correct, we acknowledge that some of our guest rooms are on the smaller side, but unfortunately I can't change that. I can promise you that the service you will receive is top notch, but thank you for pointing out some areas where we can improve. More

It's not a hotel where you would stay long term, but a weekend is just right. Room barely holds a bed, "closet" holds about 3 hangers and is behind the full length mirror in the bedroom. Bathroom is too small for the sink, so that's in the bedroom as well. Our master bath at home is actually bigger than the... More

We stayed here in March 2012 when visiting the city for a wedding. I learned the hotel was under new management which didnt instill a lot of confidence and I wasn't expecting much. I was wrong. We were absolutely blown away by the location, quality of the rooms, service, friendly staff and delicious free continental breakfast. Rooms are not huge... More

(Explore Upper East Side & Central Park) Convenient/ comfortable walk to east side museums: Metropolitan, Guggenheim... If you're up for a bit more strolling, cross Central Park to west side museums:  Natural History, Hayden Planetarium... (Plenty to explore in park as well.) That's "The Franklin's" advantage -- *location*.  The hotel is merely a place to lay one's head (& attempt to bathe). (Pack... More

Stay here whenever we come to NYC because we have friends living on the upper east side. If you're going to stay in a hotel on the UES, stay here. Small rooms? It's a boutique NYC hotel! The rooms are NO smaller than any NYC hotel room I have been in that would be considered "small." Also, having stayed here... More

The staff were polite, attentive and friendly and let us join in their lively discussions!.The ambience of the place is old fashioned (in a good way) and comfortable. Many of the other guests had stayed before. Wine and cheese early evening in the little sitting room was much appreciated. Breakfast was adequate, Hotel perfectly located for us, near museums with... Loved how quaint and luxorious this hotel was. Free esspresso machine access, and wine happy hour each evening was a great amenity. Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in at a hotel. Great customer service.

This place has gone down hill. I'm wondering if management has changed. Namely, the quality of the continental breakfast went from excellent to poor. A few years ago they offered a gourmet cheese tray, fresh plain yogurt, homemade granola; think European and healthy. This time I was shocked and disappointed to find a chain-hotel-grade pastry tray, processed cereals and cheeses,... More

We knew the rooms at the Franklin were small so we opted for the exec king, but the bed took up 2/3 of the room so it was STILL cramped. It wasn't even possible to open the closest door all the way because the nightstand was in the way. There's not a drawer to be found. You have to live... More
