I can't rate this for value as I got a terrific deal on Priceline. So that's worth knowing. All I can tell you are things I noticed. Parking: if you've got a car, forget about cheap or free parking. Car park opposite that they will validate (cost me $35 for 24 hours as a result). Room was small but I... More

The second we walked in the door, we were greeted by friendly hotel workers who immediately got us to our room. Although the room was somewhat small, it is an older hotel and most hotels in NYC have smaller rooms. The bathroom was a good size though, and everything worked just fine. The best parts of the hotel are the... More

We stayed here for three nights in April. We arrived on a Wednesday night and were told they had overbooked, but they had us a room right down the street at Hotel Mela. I was a little bit perturbed, but I was on vacation so I tried to just be rational. The Night manager, Nelson, was very apologetic and offered... More

I had stayed here before in a minisuite with my daughter and managed to book it again for a Friday night. It is probably one of the best deals in Manhattan if you want 2 rooms. The sofa bed is not the greatest, but ok . The bathroom is small but has all necessary amenities. The staff was excellent. When... More

I stayed here for the purpose of business travel. The hotel itself was in Midtown, close to subways, Rockefeller Center and Times Square. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The hotel itself has some lovely period details. The rooms, typical of any NYC hotel, are small but more than adequate considering you should only be there to sleep anyway.... More

My daughter and I stayed here for one night and I was so impressed with many details of our stay. I booked the Algonquin via the Marriott website (Marriott Reward Member). It is close to everything! Great restaurants in the area. Duane Reade (essential for those little items) just around the corner. The parking garage across the street was very... More

As a Marriot Platinum member I thought I would try this new autograph hotel. It was absolutely brilliant. Bang in the middle of town - amazing breakfast and restruant - lively bar and full of history and character. Great staff. I will stay here again

the algonquin is one of the best hotels you will stay at in new york city. It's rooms are very clean and pleasant, and its facilities and lobby are historic and architecturally beautiful. The service is extremely friendly and the location is great! Some of the reviews i read i cannot understand, because it is such a pleasant hotel. Another... More

I just love this hotel. I stay a couple of times a year. It's just old world NYC. Right next to the theaters and great dining. The staff is always fun and courteous. The lobby bar is just fun to 'sit and sip' while you 'people watch'--the drinks are a bit pricey ($24 for a nice martini) and the rooms... More

I won this on PL. Just a marvelous hotel, a lot of love goes into this olde Grand Dame. I really loved the experience. The lobby isn't trendy, it is comfortable and a throw back to a much more elegant time. The lobby is hopping at night, an older refined crowd, very lovely. The rooms are small but it's NYC... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
