If you're coming to New York City and want a taste of old world charm in the heart of the theatre district - this is the place to be. The Algonquin Hotel has wonderful history but even better a first-rate hotel staff who will make you feel comfortable, secure and welcome. It also boasts a wonderful lobby bar and cabaret... More

Compared to many sterile hotels with long straight corridors, try the Algonquin. Rooms are different shapes and quality but clean and acceptable. My latest visit was no exception. Friendly staff, aged elevators (but working) and compact but tidy room. The Blue Bar is still a true NY experience. Long time staff who know their business along with a noisy crowd.

My sister always teases me when I check a room's size before booking. Well, I didn't do that this time, and it was a mistake! I didn't measure the room, but I'm certain it was about 12x9! The bathroom was about 6x6, there was one very small closet, and no dresser. The room was comfortable and clean and hotel staff... More

Paid for a King room on Orbitz. Checked in, unpacked and noticed that the bed was a smaller than a queen. Called the front desk and was told that they were sorry but they were all out of the king rooms due to faulty AC units. So they tried to sneak us into a smaller standard room and hoped we... More

I would highly advise not staying here. No one at the front desk, management office or anywhere in between wants to work. They do not even acknowledge you when you approach the front desk. The GM actually told me they did not care about customer service. And sleep in a plastic bag, so you can avoid all the bed bugs.... More

Dear Asia Britan Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts on Trip Advisor. We regret your experience was not a positive one. We were surprised about your comment regarding our associates and the ‘gm’ – I am certain whomever you spoke to was not the general manager of the Algonquin or any of our associates as we... More

This was our second stay at the Algonquin hotel. We came back for the great location of the hotel and the most welcoming staff. The rooms are comfortable, average decor but great beds and cool airconditioning. We just wish they would change the bathrooms in this hotel. They are extremely small and narrow, and the bathtubs are very old. I... More

I was staying for four nights, the room is very noisy, in fact in the nightstand can find earplugs. The bathroom is very small and the shower floor seems to be dirty, lacking maintenance. The best hotel is the lobby bar and its location. Definitely would never stay at this hotel, I think you might find a better hotel for... More

Stayed here for 6 nights in June with my wife and my 8 month old son. Great points - provided a fridge in the room when requested and a crib for our son. Location was fantastic - close to Grand Central and Byrant Park subway. Free wifi throughout the hotel Good points - bed was super comfy, coffee, tea and... More

We only got to stay one night unfortunately, but the hotel staff was great, very accomodating, the rooms weren't large (we ended up with a queen bed), and the location was superb. I am pretty picky and had no complaints. The lobby was very nostalgic, but elegant and well kept. It wasn't one of those hotels that looks great from... More

Never thought I'd stay there, although I'd heard so much about the Round Table, etc. My friend had an extended stay at a Marriott out-of-state and had a free night. We came in to see a show and stay only one night, regrettably. Walking in we met Matilda, the hotel cat and she was so dignified. Friendly, too. We were... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
