I stayed at the Algonquin for a few days in mid-August. The hotel is in a pretty good location in midtown, with convenient access via walking or taxis. The hotel has a real (but faded) charm, with a lobby bar filled with theater goers or ladies-who-lunch types. The rooms are very small, even for Manhattan, and my room (815) had... More

Pricelined this hotel for $125/night. It's a block and a half off Times Square on W. 44th St. On one side, a casual diner (Red Flame) and tthe othe side Cafe Boulud. Room was very small, but very quiet ( on the back side of hotel). Bathroom very nice....Robe in closet and toiletries provided. Service is excellent...wonderful beds and bedding...any... More

If you are looking for quiet this is not it. You can hear lots of street noise probably from the window air conditioner. Sound just travels right up. The room is clean, small and the bed mattress is too soft. Its definitely on older hotel. Internet was free and there are eating places nearby.

No complaints about this hotel at all. We arrived around noon and as the room was not yet ready, they held our luggage for us while we attended a class we were in town for. Later, when we arrived back at the hotel totally exhausted, the check in was very fast and our luggage was delivered to our room within... More

I stayed here in August. We got the room off of Hotwire.com for 130$/night. The locations was great, close to all of the action. The rooms are small, but we were only there too sleep. The breakfast is 23$... kind of pricey, but again we weren't eating, just sleeping and then off again. The service was good, the hotel lobby... More

Great service. Professional and prompt. Needed to change my date of stay, and the reservations desk was very accomodating, and friendly. Had a package deal, which included drinks at the bar, and breakfast. Room was very nice. Nothing fancy, but had all the old world charm in tact, with all the modern conveniences. Drinks and food were excellent. Lobby lounge... More

What a great little place, centrally located with a history in itself. Tucked away just behind Times Square close to everything. Walked everywhere from here. Heritage listed, quaint bedroom and bathroom. Bedroom is small with only space for one suitcase, but plenty of room to spread out in the lounge area. A lovely platter of fruit and welcome card from... More

Nice hotel for a visit of NYC. The location is great, near Times Square. Rooms are not so big but enough since the main point of the trip is to visit the city, but very clean and confortable. Free wifi conection. Nice place to have breakfast just in front of the Hotel. I sure recomend this hotel.

My husband, 18-year-old daughter and I booked a suite at the Algonquin for 4 nights the last week of July. We used to live in NYC and return periodically (not nearly enough) to soak up that great city; this trip was a special occasion at our daughter's request as she is shortly moving to LA to college. We had stayed... More

The interesting movie "Mrs. Parker..." drew me to select this hotel for cocktails and a light snack before spending the evening at a nearby Broadway theater. I foolishly told my husband to meet me in the bar. The bar was fine, appropriately dark and clubby with people having intense business and social interactions. Prior to leaving we walked into the... Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
