This hotel captures the spirit of Manhattan. Comfortable rooms, friendly and attentive staff, buzzing lobby area and the Classic Blue Bar. Close to Times Square, Broadway theatres, Central Park, Empire State and more. Will definitely be going back.

We certainly strive to capture the spirit of Manhattan, as you so eloquently mentioned, but we also provide an alternative to the bustling Times Square accommodations. We look forward to seeing you again soon! More

We just got back from NYC celebrating my daughter's 13th birthday and stayed here. Very quaint hotel a couple of city blocks away from Times Square. We had originally booked our hotel at the Marriott Marquis and we are SO glad we changed. It was MUCH quieter at the Algonquin, no city noise from TS. After being around the busy'ness... More

This was my second stay at this hotel and I have to remember to read my own reviews. I've stayed at a lot of hotels in this part of town so I have a pretty good idea of what I like. In the end though, I chose this hotel for price. I tried to focus on the positives and it... More

I am happy that you loved the ambiance of the lobby and the unique experience that we strive to create for our guests. My wife and I love the old, classic hotels. We have stayed at the Plaza (the best but really pricey), the Waldorf Astoria (faded glory) and recently at the Algonquin. From the moment we walked in this one just felt like home. The location is perfect, the lobby is great and brings back images of classic New York, and though... More

We are glad to hear that The Gonk is your new home away from home! Perhaps next time Matilda will be performing her duties as our DirectFUR of Guest Relations in the lobby. In any case, Matilda and the rest of the staff look forward to welcoming you back. More

We stayed at The Algonquin, a beautiful beaux arts landmark. I had not been there for more than 35 years! It is still the Grande Dame of Times Square although a lot pricier! We paid more than $400 a night for relatively small room on the 7th floor with the view of interior walls of surrounding buildings. Upon check in... More

When The Algonquin was build originally in 1902, it was the tallest building in Manhattan! Since then, we have certainly been outgrown in height by our surrounding neighbors. That bieng said, we don't offer very many views, with the excpetion of facing the front (44th Street). I'm so happy you enjoyed the ambience and the service that is provided at... More

I booked the Algonquin for a few days in nyc to be centrally located. I really enjoyed it. I knew the history around it and it really has a turn of the century charm with the wood features and etched glass. The room was small but so are most New York rooms, however it was updated and very comfortable. The... More

You are a couple of blocks from Times Squares and Broadway shows. It does not get better than this. I found the hotel fairly quiet for New York. The service is outstanding. The Blue Room is fun but be ready to pay high price for drinks. The Round Table restaurant food is also excellent. We had an above average room... More

Since our hotel isn't situated in the hustle and bustle of Times Square, we do offer a quiet stay while still being in the heart of Manhattan. Our unique Food & Beverage offerings add to the one of a kind experience that you had at The Gonk. We hope your travels bring you back to New York soon! More

a very nice place to stay while staying in NYC. Rooms are nice. It is a very quiet area - close to Time's Square. Great place to dinner before heading out to a Broadway show. Service was excellent. Safe.

We recently visited NYC and chose this hotel based on location and because it was part of the autograph collection. Having stayed recently at other Autograph collections that were beyond amazing the expecation was that this hotel would be the same. The staff was beyond great. I understand this is a very old hotel but it needs some updates. The... More

It's an older hotel and that means small rooms, limited closet space and not much room to lay out more than one suitcase. We had a room with King Size Bed on third floor facing the street. Shower was extremely small and the door to the room banged into the wall when you opened it due to the lack of... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
