Perfect location and a friendly staff make this a very nice hotel. I was very impressed with the lobby area as it is comforting and a great place to have a chance to sit back and relax. The Blue Bar has a great atmosphere as well. My only complaint is that the rooms are too small, even for New York's... More

We spent a night at the Algonquin during a stay in NY to see a show and dinner. The hotel lobby is a great place to gather with friends for drinks or get some small plates. It's not often you see lobbies of this size anymore with the warmth and comfort of an inviting den. It's only missing a fireplace... More

This hotel is a fabulous character building in the heart of NYC, literally a moments walk from Times Square. For my first ever visit to New York, this is exactly what I was looking for. The rooms are beautiful (small, as expected in a major city) but very comfortable and very well designed - with one exception : There are... More

Due to forecasted bad weather I did not want to risk not getting back to NY for a Monday morning conference so decided to stay the weekend. I usually stay at the Marriott Marquis with family and wanted to try something different. The Algonquin Hotel was exactly what I was looking for. The location is excellent, accommodations are quaint, and... More

We recently stayed at this hotel...small, quiet, friendly bartenders and wait staff. Great renovation..location superb. The downside...inconsistent availability of a doorman and inconsistency of a welcoming atmosphere from the front desk. The biggest complaint was the completely unfriendly hostess at breakfast who could not even acknowledge a good morning and mumbled only a few unintelligible words ( 2/5 and 2/6).

I love this place! You will be transported into the roaring 20's and 30's while enjoying a modern twist of New York class. We were there for New Year's Eve and had a wonderful time. Excellent food and courteous staff.

After my second stay, I can really say this is a great hotel. The staff is welcoming and generous with their time. The rooms have ample space and are loaded with charm. Matilda-the-cat is still holding court in the lobby! My only call to attention is to be careful about breakfast there. They offer free coffee in the lobby, but... More

My husband and I stayed recently at the Algonquin Hotel which was taken over by Marriott a couple of years ago as part of their "autograph collection". They have held on to the classic, wonderful ambiance of the old hotel while renovating to state-of-the-art luxury. Our room was amazing - beautiful bathroom, comfy bed....and it was very quiet for its... More

This hotel is beautiful from the moment you step in. The service was great. The staff was very attentive to anything we needed. We loved the location and walked to most of the places we wanted to see. My husband is a Marriott Rewards member, and we loved getting Rewards points. I would highly recommend this hotel.

It's impossible to find a more perfect hotel than the historic (and so wonderfully restored) Algonquin in New York: beautiful, comfortable rooms; incredible dining; remarkable service; outstanding location. Every member of the gracious staff went out of their way to treat us royally (and even in some of the most demanding, unpleasant weather conditions). The only downside is Mathilda, who... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
