The Algonquin is a beautifully restored historical hotel right near Times Square and Grand Central. If you are interested in American literature, there are multiple reminders of the writers that met in the Algonquin in earlier times. I found it charming and cozy. The rooms are small but efficiently arranged - it reminded me of a cruise ship cabin. The reviews... More

We've stayed here twice - first in April, then we went back in May. The location is perfect- walk 2 avenues to the theatre district, 2 blocks to Bryant Park, 8 blocks to high end window shopping! The antique restored lobby is small but beautiful. The staff at the front desk and hospitality are incredibly knowledgeable about NY and very... More

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had a great experience at The Algonquin. We arrived late Thursday night and left late Monday night. Check-in was quick and Patricia at the front desk was so helpful. She asked us if we preferred a room at the back of the building which would be less noisy then... More

From the first minute we arrived at this wonderful hotel, we were made to feel like VIP guests. The receptionist was so helpful and allocated us a quiet room, which is good if you want to sleep, after all this is the city that doesn't. The room (401) is small, but has everything needed. A queen bed which snuggled you... More

Old hotel with all of the character - brass mail chutes, lovely architectural details, etc. The street is filled with boutique hotels and it is a short walk to Broadway shows, shopping and Times Square. Bar is relaxing and the people watching out the front window fun.

This is a lovely historic hotel in a location that cannot be beat. It is charming with plenty of atmosphere yet has been updated with modern conveniences. If you want a place that is rich in history and convenient to Broadway theatre, this is a perfect spot. The room is small but much roomier than those in other big cities,... More

We were greeted by Patricia, the friendly receptionist, who explained that this was the oldest working hotel in NYC since 1902. We were a family of 4 adults and every single day we were made to feel welcome when we came in, greeted when we left and really looked after in the bar & lounges. There is a free coffee... More
