Great hotel in a great location - good shopping, bars, restaurants etc nearby. Easy cabs, subways, walking etc. People complain about room size here but it is NYC, all rooms are small. If you don't like it, book a suite. This hotel could benefit from better leisure facilities but that's it really. Other than that it's intimate and cosy but... More

We were here over Christmas and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is elegant and trendy, but not snobby; the staff are warm and welcoming. The location is fabulous, we loved staying in Soho, its fun to walk around and look at all the shops even when they are closed; the neighborhood is at a much smaller scale than Midtown,... More

The only reason to stay here is if you don't know any better--but now you'll have no excuse. Our check-in experience was terrible; 20 minute wait. Tiny room with random, tired furniture. No hot water--warm only. Extreme traffic noise on 15th floor. Exercise room small, unkempt, poorly equipped. Public spaces were small, crowded, unwelcoming.

Stayed here last New Years Eve. While the location was good and the décor was modern and very cool, the experience was awful. The room was very small. The lighting in both the room and the bathroom was very dark and there wasn’t any counter space. Our room (which cost almost $500 for the night) overlooked the ally where the... More

We stayed at this hotel for five days and while the location is excellent for shopping and galleries, the prices are way too high for the rooms and service offered. We booked a Deluxe King, thinking this would be a reasonably sized room but it contained a King size bed and just enough space to get out of the bed... More

I have stayed at the SoHo Grand 2 or 3 times a year for last 6 or 7 years. I usually come alone to visit friends and family, do shopping and just treat myself. The room is always clean, comfortable, simple but elegant and very cozy, just what I expect. Staff is very friendly and helpful and always greets me... More

Is a less than stellar hotel experience. The service at this place is lacking. I asked about having a shirt pressed, they sent up an iron! The staff seems better suited to holding people behind a rope at a nightclub than being in the hospitality industry. Tiny (even by NY standards) rooms (especially for the price). Small gym, overpriced and... More

Great experience - the staff was friendly and knowledgable, the lounge was trendy and elegant and great for people watching, and my king bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. I loved the eclectic architecture of the hotel, and the staff was great in recommending restaurants in the area, as well as giving me a great... More

Perceptions of relatively-high end hotels in Manhattan can be influenced by how much you (or your employer, or your sugar daddy) are paying for the room. At the (fairly high) rack rate, my base-level room at the Soho Grand would have been a slight disappointment. At the US government per diem, however (probably 30 percent less than the rack rate),... My husband and I travel quite often for work and were looking for something more unique than our typical Hitlon/Marriott/Starwood experience on a recent trip to NYC. We chose the Soho Grand because of it's location and promise of an upscale experience. We booked a "Double Upgrade Package" for a weekend getaway this October. We were not given the room... More

Staying in SoHo

Neighborhood Profile
SoHo
Once the artistic hub of New York, SoHo is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway is teeming with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district – the world’s largest collection of intricate and elegant cast-iron architecture. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city.
