I am writing this review at 1.00 am on our second night at this sad hotel. A hairdryer has been going in the next room for about 30 minutes, and it may as well be in our room as there is no sound insulation at all between rooms. It is however preferable to our first night where we had a full... I was very dubious about staying at this hotel I'd read so many bad reviews and seen some horrendous pictures but when I got there it was ok. A very basic hotel, clean enough and right in the middle of things ( great location ) all staff were very helpful and polite. I paid a fortune to stay here (... More

perfect hotel to do NYC by walk. staff is very friendly and helpful. rooms are clean, but very dated and oldfashioned. the bath towels are outworn and the water taps needs more maintenance. neighbors are easily hearable! overall quality ok for this price.

The rooms were old and beat up. The towels and linens were old and ragged. The shower has mildew and the bathrooms were dirty. This hotel leaves much to be desired other than the location!!!! Needs a massive update overhaul.

I booked The Manhattan at Times Square hotel with a little hesitancy because of some of the poor reviews on Trip Advisor but decided to go ahead because of the hotels location. I am so pleased that I did book it as we could not believe the standard of service we received from Dorothy on the Reception to Lion the... More

Stayed here with a mate, both from UK, for a November holiday in New York City. It was fantastic. Before we arrived, we read some bad reviews of the hotel and thus were wary of what to expect, but we had absolutely no problems whatsoever. The location was excellent, the room was clean, with a great view towards Times Square... More

We had a really good experience staying at this Hotel. On checking in the staff were very friendly and helpful. When entering our room, we discovered that we had been given one of the rooms that had NOT yet been refurbished. (the majority haven't yet). It was clean, tidy and functional, but dated and tired. Definitely in need of refurbishment.... More

The staff are friendly and the hotel, overall, was OK & efficient. It's showing its age, however, and it needs renovation. Location is excellent as was its grab-and-go cafe, managed by John & William.

We arrived and were told that no upgrades were available although we did request them ahead of time (and not guaranteed). Told to wait an hour. Two hours later, no room. Given another room and it was taken. Then another room and maid was doing the room at 8PM and got upset at us for interrupting her. Carpet was dirty.... More

After a mediocre stay at this hotel around this time last year, my fiancé and I decided to try The Manhattan one more time. The location of the hotel is great, so that was the main reason as to why we decided to go back. We booked our December 2014 reservations in the summer of 2014. We had checked in... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
