I hesitate to write this because I don't want my secret upper West Side gem over run. Some rooms a bit shabby but the corner rooms for 4 people have an amazing view of the Hudson, the windows open so you can get fresh air, and they are clean! The lobby staff is very upstanding and pleasant. The cafe run... More

The conventional wisdom concerning very inexpensive hotels in NYC is that they are dirty, contain a guerilla army of bed-bugs, and are unsafe. The Riverside Tower bucks the conventional wisdom at every turn! The neighborhood is attractive and very safe, and this hotel, while a bit "worn", is extremely clean in every respect. The staff is friendly and helpful. The... More

This hotel is a treasure. We wanted somewhere central, inexpensive and within walking distance of many of New York's attractions. This ticked all of the boxes. It's 2 blocks off Broadway, 5 blocks from Central Park, and 2 blocks from line 1 of New York's Subway. In addition to that, it's on Riverside Drive, a very safe neighborhood. We stayed... More

This hotel is exactly where you want to stay if you're in the city to see the city. Used to be a dorm for NYU, I can't imagine living here but for the seven or less hours we were there each night, it was perfect. Bed was very comfortable, water was hot, free wifi, and staff really friendly. The area... More

Let's not forget, this is a budget hotel people! It is perfectly adequate and comfortable for the price. It's clean, the maid changed the bedding and towels every day and the reception staff were most helpful. This is in a great location, very near to the subway and Central Park and plenty of cafés and shops around for when you... More

Receptionist welcoming. Rooms were a bit small, but that's why you pay such low price. Location is very convenient, few blocks away from The beautiful Central Park, window views overlook the Hudson River and only 2 minutes from Zabars (famous Panini restaurant) and Metro Station (79th street). Bed is well sized for two people and though tight spaces (did not... More

A nice place for my purposes, which were to have a place to sleep after a full day in NYC. Building is old but everything is very clean and there are no bad smells around. Rooms are much better than what you may think by seeing the hallway (to be honest I was affraid of what I was going to... More

It is basic accommodation but they are clearly trying to make a difference with the little things. The beds are comfortable and you get two sleeping rooms with the bathroom as the separato. There is a microwave and bar fridge. The laundry in the basement is handy with a washer and dryer. $1 for a wash and $1.25 to dry... More

As a family we stayed in the suite (2 adult children). We had enough room, the beds were extremely comfortable and the room was always very clean. The accommodation is basic but ideal for us as we hardly spent any time there. It was great to have a fridge and a microwave. There are so many eating places nearby as... More

Rooms in the suit were very small, old and worn out. Musty and stale air in the rooms and halls (windows didn't open and no AC). Bed and bedding appeared clean but lots of dust in in room corners and edges. No chains on doors and door locks seemed ancient and weak. We put chair under door knob at night.... More
