On the plus side: staff is friendly, room was clean, partial view of river was nice, beds comfortable. On the other hand: hotel is dingy, elevator broke down while we were there so we carried our luggage down 13 flights, room set-up was awkward. If you must stay in upper west side, this is an affordable option but there are... More

The Riverside is a great budget hotel, This was the second time we stayed there and I researched a lot to find anything comparable at the price. Yes the rooms are small, but clean. yes, the lobby is a bit tired, we don't care. We go to enjoy theatre, museums, walking and boat tours and the like. So we spend... More

This is a clean and quite cheap hotel located right on Riverside Drive, about two blocks from the subway, stores and Broadway. Because of its low prices it seems popular with students, and the weekend we stayed there there was a tremendous amount of noise. The rooms have high riser beds that need to be closed in order to exit... More

My husband and I stayed there for a week from February 9-February 16. Rooms are clean, bed sheets smell nice as the towels in the bathroom and the staff is very friendly .The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Near Central Park and the subway. Can't wait to go back!

I stayed here for 5 nights with my girlfriend in February 2015. Firstly i would say the location is superb, it is a 2 minute walk from a subway station that takes you straight downtown eg. Times Square, Grand Central, Lincoln Center. there are lots of nice restaurants nearby the hotel. There is a lovely place called Zabars a 2... More

I hesitate to write this because I don't want my secret upper West Side gem over run. Some rooms a bit shabby but the corner rooms for 4 people have an amazing view of the Hudson, the windows open so you can get fresh air, and they are clean! The lobby staff is very upstanding and pleasant. The cafe run... More

The conventional wisdom concerning very inexpensive hotels in NYC is that they are dirty, contain a guerilla army of bed-bugs, and are unsafe. The Riverside Tower bucks the conventional wisdom at every turn! The neighborhood is attractive and very safe, and this hotel, while a bit "worn", is extremely clean in every respect. The staff is friendly and helpful. The... More

This hotel is a treasure. We wanted somewhere central, inexpensive and within walking distance of many of New York's attractions. This ticked all of the boxes. It's 2 blocks off Broadway, 5 blocks from Central Park, and 2 blocks from line 1 of New York's Subway. In addition to that, it's on Riverside Drive, a very safe neighborhood. We stayed... More

This hotel is exactly where you want to stay if you're in the city to see the city. Used to be a dorm for NYU, I can't imagine living here but for the seven or less hours we were there each night, it was perfect. Bed was very comfortable, water was hot, free wifi, and staff really friendly. The area... More
