Although staff were helpful, the hotel is dated and expensive ($200USD for breakfast for 4 people), and no internet access unless an exorbitant fee is paid. The room was very small in comparison to other Marriott hotels we've stayed at, but were clean. The positive thing was the location though.

Greetings, We want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the New York Marriott East Side. You indicated in your response that despite the helpful staff and great location, we unfortunately did not meet your expectations that you have come accustomed to when staying at the Marriott Brand, including the high fee for internet.... We stayed here over Thanksgiving. Rooms were a decent size, for Manhattan. The staff was accommodating. The price was decent, for Manhattan. The rooms were very clean. Ideal location for anywhere you want to go in the Big Apple. Good choice for tourists.

My wife and I went to New York City to celebrate a milestone anniversary. We had tentatively selected the Algonquin (another Marriott property) closer to Times Square. But at over $500 a night we were a little trepidatious. After further research, we found this little gem located on Lexington Avenue literally across the street from the Waldorf Astoria. The price... Stayed 2 nights(Friday and Saturday) for a conference in NYC. I was upgraded to a King with a sofa-bed because of platinum status. Room was quite large and comfortable for NYC. Clean room, basic amenities, no free water bottles. Water in morning took a little while to get warm(32nd floor), but then was fine. Gym on 35th floor through different... More

As far as New York hotels go, this one was the most peaceful of the 3 I stayed in on my trip. The rooms were a good size, very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The staff were more than friendly, and very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay in the East Side; I am yet to be disappointed by a... More

Our family visited the week of Christmas. We checked our bags the last day while we did some extra sightseeing. When we got to our next destination, we realized we were missing one of our suitcases. The Bell Captain located our bag , boxed it, and shipped it to us Fed ex.We were very appreciative of this exceptional service. The... More

My wife and I visited New York on the 19th December 2015 for some bargain buying, sight seeing, lovely eating and just take in this enchanting city and what better base to have than the New York Marriott East Side. It is ideally located for shops, local sight seeing like the Empire State, Chrysler Building, Central Park etc. It has... More

The midtown Manhattan location and staff here are great. The hotel is a bit "older" so if you want the latest and greatest then you will be disappointed here. For me, I just want the killer location, a decent room (and mine surely was - big enough too!!), and to fall out my door and into the mid-town madness. Plus,... More

Don't expect "Marriott" quality here. I usually like the Marriott brand because there aren't surprises. Not always the best in town, but you always know what you will get and its usually well above average. Not here. First, I don't know of any other Marriott that doesn't even offer room service. You are on your own to eat. The gym... More

Would recommend flying into LaGuardia as it's closer to the hotel; the fare was $38. There were 4 of us (2 Adults & 2 "young adults") and the Premier King room was big enough that we never felt cramped. No view, but we weren't there during the day anyway. The sofa bed was ok, but if you're young & tired... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
