Having read the tripadvisor reviews before I booked this hotel I thought I was taking a bit of a risk. We had a deluxe room on the 14th floor. It looked into the central well, their was no traffic noise, the view is what you would get in many many hotels around the world in city centres. We had a... More

We recently stayed at the NH Jolly Madison on 38th and Madison Ave in NY city. Four nights over the Memorial Day holiday and it was very pleasant. After reading many of the reviews for this hotel, I was more than anxious about the stay. Our room was on the 12th floor, room 1269. We experienced no street noise or... More

When myself and my girlfriend were first looking at this hotel we were skeptical about it. Though once we have now stayed at this hotel we cannot understand why people are so picky about it. From the moment we arrived there was nothing but excellent service, we understood that we had to pay for the wifi, although at reception we... More

Beware this hotel is not even close to description or pictures. Well located but this does not offset the poor quality and room price. Bed and linens probably the worst I've ever encountered. There may be some good rooms in this property but I certainly didn't see one.

This rooms are outdated now although I understand they are due for renovation next year. Having said that, the rooms are not tatty. The TV is a tube TV rather than flat screen. The hotel is in a great location, in between grand central station and empire state building. You can walk to times square - it takes about 15... More

Great location on Madison Avenue. We were able to easily walk to Macys, Empire State Building, Grand Central terminal (which was also closest subway), Rockefeller centre, Chrysler Building etc. Rooms were clean and staff were polite and helpful. We used Sarahs Kitchen opposite the road for breakfast and any meals near the hotel as this was cheaper. We had a... More

First the great: the location! The hotel is in walking distance to the Empire State building, Grand Central Terminal and Times Square. The rooms (standard/ superior) are clean, have nice marble bathrooms but are very dated (old TV). The staff said the whole hotel is due to be renovated in 2016. Beds were great and comfy. The aircon works fine,... More

The customer service was just the worse! The staff was rude to every guest, the guest would complain together in the elevators! They were the same to me. Just very unprofessional. Plus, the staff told me different ways the parking would be handled – it seemed like no one really knew what and why I was asking that question. They... More

I actually stayed in May 2013 but I've only got round to creating a trip adviser account. This hotel is perfectly located. It's only few blocks south of Grand Central, North of ESB and east of Times Square. Plenty of subway options but we walked everywhere. Staff are very friendly. We had a standard room which is small but this... More

Long weekend in NY with my daughter. Hotel is central in between everything you would want to see in NY. Great location. Reception not very friendly but that depends who is working that day. The beds are terrible. The trafic didn't bother us on the 11th floor. Room was clean 👍......airconditioning makes a lot of noise....and you can't adjust the... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
