Having celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at this hotel (then called Lyden Gardens) we returned to celebrate our 60th and were not disappointed. Great location on a quiet neighborhood street, large rooms with sitting area & full kitchen (& nearby great grocery store), free internet access, very pleasant competent staff, easy access to places of interest by foot or subway.... An excellent choice for our stay in NYC. Location was great. The hotel/ apartment spotlessly clean, well designed and room very comfortable and big plus a lovely kitchen too. The staff were nice and professional. We truly liked everything about this place and will defenitely come back.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 weeks for my husband's surgery at Sloan Kettering and we were pleasantly surprised at the accommodations and professionalism of the staff. We normally stay at much nicer hotels but as we needed a kitchen and large sitting/desk area for two weeks during his recuperation (but not break the bank) this was perfect... More

Dear Lilygogo- Thank you for choosing to stay with us during your husband's recovery. Our location lends itself well to the neighborhood and makes shopping and groceries easy... More

I stayed here with my son (in his 20's). There was a small kitchen & nearby, there were places to get food to bring back. It was a nice sized room, clean & comfortable. The subway is a few blocks away (N,Q, R). This makes it a great base for exploring the city (especially good for a family, when you... More

We had the pleasure of staying for a week at this hotel. The rooms are very big, clean and well equipped and all the staff we met where very friendly and courteous (Caprice,Sal,Kris,Nigel and Michael all helped to make our stay memorable) the cost of in room wifi is expensive but if you book through the Affinia website you get this... This hotel is clean and bright. The location is quiet for Manhattan on the upper east side. It is 4 blocks from subway lines (N,Q,R, and 4,5,6) and 3 long blocks to Central Park. It is very close to Roosevelt Park which is a great place for a stroll and photos. The hotel is located next to a lot of... More

We stayed at the Affinia gardens last month. It was the start of a mammoth 8 weeks of travelling and we arrived at the hotel at around 10AM after a 14 hour flight with our two children (5&7). I had e-mailed and notified of our early arrival and asked if at all possible could we have an early check-in. The... More

Factoring in that this is NYC, this hotel is pretty good! The rooms are spacious and clean with modern furnishings. The service from the front desk was generally helpful. The location is just amazing---walking distance to so much, including the subway. The only comments I would make are as follows: 1) The hallways/elevator areas are old and run down and... More

Dear jessikaCalgary- Thank you for your comments regarding your stay. I did see that in your comments you referred to the halls being filled with objects and I do apologize for that perception. As this building was originally an apartment building (hence our very large room size!) we are limited in closet space on the halls and occasionally the housekeeping... More

This place is awesome, right near everthing. The room was great, very spacious for NYC especially for the price. The kitchen was perfect, if you have kids or traveling for medical reasons that really comes in handy. Staff was second to none. Not to loud for NYC either so allowed for a great relaxing visit.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
