We love everything about the Barclay! Located a block from Grand Central, within walking distance of EVERYTHING, but out of the craziness of Times Square. Although it is being remodeled, we always loved the beauty of the lobby and rooms and the restaurant/bar is great. Fabulous martinis!! Can't wait to see the renovations!

Loved this hotel! Rooms are amazing, staff are friendly, located in central Manhattan so easy to get to most places, food is quite expensive, but we went self catered to explore more and try more food. Trips are incredible! We did Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Rockefellar at day & night, Central Park zoo, natural history museum, all were... More

Greeted by reception with a "you right"? Arriving at reception with luggage you would expect a more appropriate greeting. He managed 3 more words before ushering us off to our room, only for us to discover we were downgraded from King to a queen. This was rectified after the first night, to a large corner suite which was in need... More

I have stayed at this hotel probably 10 times now. I have never had anything but a wonderful experience. The rooms are great, the staff are so accommodating, the location is quite yet super central and the rooms are absolutely perfect. I simply would not stay anywhere else in Manhattan.

I have been staying here for 3 weeks every year in past 10 years. Love the location - not as busy and noisy but only few blocks from everything... Central Park, Grand Central, a lot of good restaurants, Madison and 5.th Ave. shopping, museums - all walking distance. Rooms are a bit old but well maintained. Overall, a place I... More

I stayed at the InterContinental Barclay a few months back. They did a good job of making sure we knew they were eliminating services due to an approaching shut down and complete renovation. The hotel is older (including furnishings) but it has a lot of charm and is in a great location! I look forward to staying once the renovation... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for your comment. We are glad to read your indulgence toward the last months conditions of the Barclay. The construction is now well advanced and still has long months to go to bring our iconic property back to life. Booked directly as we've always done. Despite upcoming major renovation, we were both still quite comfortable. The renovation is timely - well-needed because it's no longer pristine. The reception and concierge were friendly and attentive as they have always been. Always nice when staff remembers you and calls you by name! We'll be going back when renovations are done. I... We enjoyed the hotel's staff and the location, but much about the property was dated. As Platinum Ambassadors, we enjoyed special treatment and upgrades, but the lack of updated amenities was a bit too obvious for the Intercontinental Brand. Unfortunately, this made the experience only average, when we are used to above average and excellent experiences at IHG properties.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
