The Herald Square Hotel is located in 31st Street between 5th Avenue and Broadway. It's not a 5 stars hotel however it's clean, comfy, the staff is friendly but two things that make this hotel the best option if you are traveling in a budget this hotel has UNBEATABLE prices and UNBEATABLE location. One block away from Broadway, three away... More

We had read the reviews and thought that this was the hotel for us - and it was - excellent value for money - and so central. The hotel is small, older and still a work in progress for refurbishment, although there were no noises from drills, etc. to bother us. Our room was spotless, the bathroom was really clean... More

This has to be the best experience for the thinking visitor who enjoys historic places more than bland mass-produced hotel rooms. The Herald Square was originally the publishing house of Life Magazine and those wonderful iconic covers are framed and put all over the walls where you can enjoy them. The lifts are small and crazy, the corridors upstairs almost... More

2 minutes walk from the Empire State Building. Very central, budget, good quality hotel. Free tea and coffee in the lounge, staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms cleaned and towels changed every day. No view from the window, but then we only slept there so didn't need a view! Everything we wanted to do was walkable or the subway station... More

Wanted to stay for longer period, but had to leave due to unfriendly staff. The hotel was well maintained, toiletries regularly changed and supplied, but the staff attitude left much to be desired. They mostly carry intimidating faces and dislike queries from customers. There was no breakfast in the hotel, but hot water for tea and averages were made available... More

The location is very good. Close to Macy's, empire state bldg and other attractions. subway near by. Rooms are very small, if you have 2 big suitcases or more it is hard to maneuver. There is an aircondition unit in the room which does not excell in being quiet. Bathroom is very nice. Wifi is free and efficient. There is... More

Pleasantly surprised at the size of the rooms in this European style hotel. Although the hotel is older, our room had been updated & was spacious with high ceilings, cedar lined closet & drawers. The room was clean & had nice amenities-safe for valuables, makeup mirror, soft towels & sheets. Bathroom shower head was a little high for someone short... More

Nicely kept hotel in a really good Manhattan location. It was our first time visiting NYC, and this hotel was a perfect option. Normally, we stay in higher end hotels, but this fit the price point, and we weren't disappointed. It was more than half price of some of the other surrounding hotels! The room was actually quite large in... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
