I requested a renovated room and was very happy. The room was charming, spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. Bathroom again spotlessly clean - and very nice. A good size. This is New York City so don't expect a big room wherever you are - and usually there is no 'view' from the window. If there is a view... More

Location was ideal, in New York you want to be near times square rather than downtown. The rooms were nice and kept clean. Value for money excellent, just fix the loud radiators that make a racket in the middle of the night!

As a few have said, at the price that you're paying for, you can't ask anything more: the location is great, the bed was comfortable and clean, the toilet was clean. At the end of the day, if you're traveling on a budget and given the reasons above, I think this hotel deserves a 4/5. Few things to note: -... More

Stayed there for 10 days and only have good things to say. Location is amazing, right on 31 Street and 5th Avenue, a few steps from Empire States and Macy's and few minutes to Rockfeller Center and Broadway. You can find a lot of good restaurants, shops and pharmacies there too. There are more than 2 options of subway lines... More

Simply dreadful, checked out immediately. More like a hostel than a hotel. Receptionist rude. Internet did not work. Room noisy, depressing, dirty, Went to get a coffee from the horrible reception and no hot water. They did however give us our money back.

We stayed here on our trip to see the Macy's thanksgiving day parade. The location was great. Just a hop, skip and jump from Macy's. The staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms were quaint, clean and comfortable. For as little time as we spent in our room, this hotel had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here... The Herald is within walking distance of Penn Station, which is handy if you arrive from JFK Airport. The Empire State building is also nearby to give you an idea of where you are. The reception at the Herald reminded me of a post office with the glassed in desks. Those who worked there were very nice and accommodating. The... More

This place is somewhere to sleep. That's it. The bed was clean and comfortable, but the hotel was ratty. You have to be buzzed in by someone sitting at the front desk. There is a glass pane in between you and the person at the desk. It served its purpose, but I would not stay again.

This hotel is a charming well run and cosy hotel in the heart of NYC The staff are great really hepful. It's clean and tidy. Very central and easy to run around the city. Love it and it's a good mid budget hotel.

We've booked this hotel because of it's location and it was a good choice. Everything is just around the corner, Empire State, Broadway, a lot of restaurants and coffee shops... Free wifi is available, room was ok.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
