No fancy lobby here, but there is a fine small sitting room with a coffee machine that dispenses free decent brews till 7:00 p.m. Many rooms have been renovated. My guy and I were so happy with ours. High ceilings, radiator heating that clicked and clacked (adding to its charm), gorgeous hardwood floors, and comfy beds and soft linens. Our... More

The room is very clean but claustrophobic,we are downstairs at the back of the hotel and look onto a wall with barred window's,you cannot open the window so have to rely on the air conditioning which is very noisy, the cleaning cupboard is next to our room they were banging about and whistling there just after 5 this morning, all in... The Herald Square Hotel is well located in 31st Street Midtown New York, between 5th and 6th Avenues. It is a short walk from Maceys Department store and Times Square and within walking distance of Central Park and the Museum of Modern Art [MoMa] and many other attractions. The Hotel does not serve any meals, there is a free coffee... More

The hotel is a walking distance from Empire State Building, Macy's and Penn Station. So, in a few blocks you can reach almost any subway line. When I stayed there the coffe machine was working fine and it was very helpful. Yes, the service have inconsistencies and the staff can be unfriendly sometimes, but not always. Some of the rooms... I booked directly months in advance with the hotel, based on the updated rooms illustrated. Beware as not all rooms are renovated. Mine was very old, shabby and not cleaned properly. Sticky goo on radio, tv plastic stand & door handle not clean, not to mention soiled envelope for tips! Very disappointed as friend had also recommended this hotel. When... More

Had three separate bookings during our recent trip to NY so experienced varying degrees of room sizes even though they were categorised under the same room type. The biggest room we got was for our first booking so we were pleasantly surprised after reading reviews talking about the small rooms. But the last room we got was really small and... More

We stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and were impressed with it location and friendly service. I must admit one female did not have the client service skills of the other staff but all in all it was good. The room was a good size however I did book the Queen Delux as I had seen the size of... More

We had a 2 day trip to NY, and this hotel became an excellent base for our visit! Amazing location right beside the Time square, Empire state building, Macy's and Penn station! We had a train to Washington later, so close distance to Penn station was appreciated. Hotel situated on the very classical NY street, we had a feeling that... More

We count self fortunate that Herald Square Hotel had availability on Hotels.com. Our room 918 (thanks Chris), was refurbished with hard wood floors, marble bathroom and granite table tops. Comfortable bed, superb location, very close to the Empire State Building, Macy's and Time Square. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good coffee machine let's you design to your own taste. We... More

Stayed here with a friend in January 2014. My first visit to NYC & my friends 8th! We were shopping and sightseeing so out a lot during the day. I found the hotel understated but comfortable. Stayed in room 603 and it was small but clean with 2 beds which were so comfortable that sleep was not a problem (once... More
