I stayed for a second time at the Herald Square, again it was a terrific experience. The hotel was quiet, clean, perfectly located and the staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful. If you arrive early you can lock up your bags and go explore this fantastic city. Walking distance to subway, Times Square and the Empire State. I tried the... More

The location of the Herald Square was fabulous. What you would expect from a budget hotel in terms of space and facilities. The air conditioning was rather noisy but the building is historic, as it was the former home of Life magazine. They did have free tea and coffee from the downstairs reception area that was always well stocked. But its... More

Very central with lots of room for improvement. Lamps by the table, kettle in the room and a mini fridge would make total difference for us however the room lacks in little things like this. Also wi-fi didn't work for 2 days. Next time I will pay a bit more to have more amenities. I also would pay more for... More

The Herald Square hotel is central to everything in New York. You can walk uptown and through midtown (although the walk to the Battery is quite far). The hotel itself is simply decorated and the room we had (with two doubles) really did need an upgrade. The air con was so noisy that we couldn't sleep with it on. But... More

Fantastic location, this is my go to hotel for staying in New York. Its reasonably good value for money - consideirng the usual going rate for new york hotels. Has everything you would need. Clean, tidy, comfortable and friendly.

This hotel has seen better days, especially if you are used to higher-rated hotel properties. Definitely ask for 'renovated room' if available. My room had hardwood floors, was spacious (by NYC standards) and bathroom was almost size of bedroom. Bathroom had marble walls and floor. View was terrible - faced a nearby grungy structure - but that's better than facing... More

I stayed in herald square hotel for only one night. The location is quite good regarding to the fact that it's seating on 5 avenue. The lobby does seem old and not inviting but the room was a nice surprise. It's was quite big and convenient and of course very clean. I will definitely cone back

The first thing I noticed when I walked into my room was it's size in comparison to other NYC hotels. I booked the renovated queen room and it was spacious enough for two people with luggage and had a large bed that could fit three fairly comfortably. Bath products are Aveeno, which is a bonus if that's your brand. My... More

We spent 3 days in NYC during our roundtrip through USA, this hotel is great value for the money you spend. It has all we needed. The rooms were clean, I have to say spotless. Some reviews mentioned size of the rooms as an issue. I personally find the size very satisfactory considering this is NYC. Staff very friendly. 24/7... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
