For our first trip to NYC, we chose this hotel for its great rates and location. What we found was a hotel badly in need of repair and renovation. Spotty plumbing issues, cracked tiles, corroded bathroom fixtures found. The worst was the heating system, which clanged, banged and hissed loudly throughout the night. Management was unconcerned about our numerous complaints... More

Excellent value. The rooms were large and clean and very warm. The staff were friendly and the amenities excellent (for the price). Our neighbours were very noisy so would recommend ear plugs if you are a sensitive sleeper. Only a short walk to subway and Macy's

The hotel is perfectly placed, minutes from the Empire State a Buildings and Macy's. In easy reach of all, other attractions. Our room was very newly renovated with a big comfy bed and a lovely bathroom. Our room 'looked out ' on to Side of an office building which was almost within touching distance. It was therefore very dark. There were... More

(+) Location on the 31st street so it's easy to go uptown and..downtown :) Nice bathroom, clean room, nice stuff. (-) We stayed on the 1st floor. There were 2 windows in the room but no daylight (so high buildings around). It's really hard to exist without daylight..

The sleeping rooms in the Herald Square Hotel were shockingly comfortable, clean and quiet for the price and location. Don’t let the plexiglass shield in the lobby (or the oddly semi-circular metallic elevator or dingy halls) scare you off. Once I got to the room (I stayed in 906) and figured out how the old model hole-punch key worked, I... More

We arrived early and stored our luggage in the free storage area before going shopping, we returned at 2.30pm knowing our check-in time was 3pm. I asked if it was ready and was told by a rude young woman that it was not! She was more interested in her phone and book than me, same attitude to guest after me.... More

Just booked the hotel for Memorial Day weekend after many visits. Whenever my sister and I spend the day in the city we always spend the night at the hotel. The staff is wonderful, location great, and the rooms are really nice and clean. Sometimes I have issues with the shower water temperature but that will not stop me from... More

This was our first visit to New York and we were not disappointed by our choice! We were on a budget and wanted something that was value for money but not a hostel, this was perfect. We arrived by train from the airport and the hotel was a short walk away from Penn Station. We arrived slightly early and were... More

The room was small but very clean. The bathroom door couldn't open all the way because it hit the bed, but no big deal. The shower would alternate between hot and cold. Other than that, we had no issues.
