We messed up our dates and showed up one day early. Even after losing our cool, the staff was very patient and helpful, Monica especially, but all of the staff very attentive, friendly and helpful with suggestions. Renovated rooms were very nice, the beds were very comfortable and we would definately stay again.

My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights while passing though Manhattan. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Penn Station, which was its primary selling point for us. First impressions of the lobby were a bit sketchy; the staff interacts from behind thick glass, and they had to buzz us in. Hmm. . . The room was clean... More

Here is my review for a 2 night stay at the Herald Square Hotel. I spent considerable time searching for a hotel that was centrally located and reasonably priced. I finally settled on this hotel and was most satisfied. The checking in process was a bit slow but after that I was assigned a room on the 4th floor. Room... More

The room was large and clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable. I had a room with only a "view" of a wall, but was not in the room a whole lot. The staff were friendly and I slept there very well. The blackout shutters really did the trick. I highly recommend it!

I stayed for a second time at the Herald Square, again it was a terrific experience. The hotel was quiet, clean, perfectly located and the staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful. If you arrive early you can lock up your bags and go explore this fantastic city. Walking distance to subway, Times Square and the Empire State. I tried the... More

The location of the Herald Square was fabulous. What you would expect from a budget hotel in terms of space and facilities. The air conditioning was rather noisy but the building is historic, as it was the former home of Life magazine. They did have free tea and coffee from the downstairs reception area that was always well stocked. But its... More

Very central with lots of room for improvement. Lamps by the table, kettle in the room and a mini fridge would make total difference for us however the room lacks in little things like this. Also wi-fi didn't work for 2 days. Next time I will pay a bit more to have more amenities. I also would pay more for... More

The Herald Square hotel is central to everything in New York. You can walk uptown and through midtown (although the walk to the Battery is quite far). The hotel itself is simply decorated and the room we had (with two doubles) really did need an upgrade. The air con was so noisy that we couldn't sleep with it on. But... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
