The Herald is within walking distance of Penn Station, which is handy if you arrive from JFK Airport. The Empire State building is also nearby to give you an idea of where you are. The reception at the Herald reminded me of a post office with the glassed in desks. Those who worked there were very nice and accommodating. The... More

This place is somewhere to sleep. That's it. The bed was clean and comfortable, but the hotel was ratty. You have to be buzzed in by someone sitting at the front desk. There is a glass pane in between you and the person at the desk. It served its purpose, but I would not stay again.

This hotel is a charming well run and cosy hotel in the heart of NYC The staff are great really hepful. It's clean and tidy. Very central and easy to run around the city. Love it and it's a good mid budget hotel.

We've booked this hotel because of it's location and it was a good choice. Everything is just around the corner, Empire State, Broadway, a lot of restaurants and coffee shops... Free wifi is available, room was ok.

This is a GREAT hotel! We found it on the Internet, and decided to book a room there, for three people, for three nights, over Thanksgiving. Our criteria were price, location and customer reviews. As for location, it couldn't have been better for us. We arrived on Amtrak at Penn Station, and only had a 3-block walk to the hotel.... More

Dreadful place - avoid it at all costs. Our room had several air conditioning units outside the window, which made an incredible racket. But we can't close the window because it's so stuffy inside and you can't turn on the room air-conditioning because it sounds like a Harley Davidson at full throttle. So you're stuck. The other main problem is... More

I stayed here in Nov 14. Location is excellent, staff friendly, room fine-2 large double beds. I was happy with the stay. No breakfast but coffee facilities in hotel and loads of delis around. Stored my bags before flight. Nice place.

Hotel is literally around the corner from Broadway on 31st great location! The rooms are small which is the norm for New York City but comfortable & clean with private bathroom and had a view of the Empire State building ! The flavored teas and coffee in the lobby was a nice freebie

What could be better than to be able to walk everywhere or use nearby subway.. that's this hotel. Free coffee teas and chocolates available in the lounge area most hours. We had a good room on the ground floor, but I'm sure it was designed for guests over 6 feet tall... the bed was so high and to get to... More

I noted that another reviewer said about this property "This is a budget hotel which delivers accordingly. If a good bed in a clean enough small room in a bit run down hotel with a good location is what you need, then go for it." Actually, I can't really improve on that description, except to note that the price I... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
