The Herald Square Hotel is a no frills clean and friendly place in a great Manhatten location. It's a couple blocks from the Empire State build and walking distance to the theatr district. No refrigerator, no restaurant, no microwave, no room service -- just a clean large room with friendly staff. The place is popular with foreign tourists. In the... More

Anyone who has read my reviews knows I am a little overly concerned about cleanliness in hotels. At first sight the lobby is older and so are the hallways as many other reviewers have noted - but once in our room (110) it was like a B&B. Wood floors, white linens, clean bathroom. I did not have to use the... More

I doubted staying here at first but upon reading some good reviews on location, I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. How I wished I had stayed a few more days. loved its location. Extremely convenient and the subway was just next door on 34th Street. Macy and other major shopping area were also 3 streets away. Saved a... More

I found this hotel was as advertised, and in line with the positive reviews. I stayed in a "renovated King" room. It was large for a NY hotel, very high ceilings, very clean, very quiet. (My room had no view, it was in the back, which I preferred.) The location was very convenient to midtown attractions, comfortable to walk around,... More

Wonderful location and close to a number of useful metro stops. Great value for a place so centrally located. The only complaint was the rooms are just a tad cramped, but very clean and the beds are comfortable. I also had a little situation with a lost item and management was very caring - based on my understanding the place... More

Took a chance on this hotel on our first trip to NYC. We were a short walk from the Amtrak station, and continued to walk EVERYWHERE due to the excellent location. The room was smallish, but perfect for our busy itinerary. The beds and linens were to die for - so comfy, and the everything was spotless. The staff was... More

The location was great and Amazing hotel located in the heart of Manhattan, only a few minutes walk from Times Square and many other famous NY landmarks. Cool! . Close to the 5th avenue and one block from the Empire State Building!! A classical modern room, so silent, cozy and VERY CLEAN. In the Hotel lobby you can enjoyed drinking... More

I requested a renovated room and was very happy. The room was charming, spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. Bathroom again spotlessly clean - and very nice. A good size. This is New York City so don't expect a big room wherever you are - and usually there is no 'view' from the window. If there is a view... More

Location was ideal, in New York you want to be near times square rather than downtown. The rooms were nice and kept clean. Value for money excellent, just fix the loud radiators that make a racket in the middle of the night!

As a few have said, at the price that you're paying for, you can't ask anything more: the location is great, the bed was comfortable and clean, the toilet was clean. At the end of the day, if you're traveling on a budget and given the reasons above, I think this hotel deserves a 4/5. Few things to note: -... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
