New York in Summer is expensive. What impressed me here more than anything was the helpfulness off all the hotel staff, especially the concierge and reception. Not just helpful but personal and attentive too. The included breakfast isn't worth much though. Better to make use of the room amenities for coffee/tea etc and eat out for breakfast. Rooms were good... More

Our room at the Blakely was okay. Nothing special, just a decent bed and nice toiletries. But the rest of our experience was odd. A strange metal ramp (probably for luggage) marred the hotel entrance, and the bellman was so shabbily turned out, we weren't sure whether he was a bona fide hotel employee or a scammer looking to steal... This was our first time to NYC and we certainly experienced sticker shock for Manhatten hotels. Even though we had never spent so much on a hotel room, we were actually pleased. Everything was top notch in the beautifully decorated room. We had problems with our TV. They immediately replaced it although we still had the problem. The man returned... More

Just spent 4 nights at The Blakely with my daughter. The hotel is very well situated with easy access to many sights, Central Park and the subway. The room we had was traditional in appearance, roomy and clean. The small kitchenette area was useful with microwave, fridge/freezer and coffee machine. The one let down on this hotel is the bar/dining... More

Pros: 1. Excellent location - close to Central Park, 5th Avenue, MOMA, Subway station, within a reasonable walking distance to Times Square. 2. Rooms are large and comfortable - include kitchentte, large bathroom. 3. The Staff is very professional and helpful. Very flexible and attentive with guest requests. 4. The gym at the hotel has an attached big bath room... More

This hotel is in such a great location, so close 5th Ave and Central Park. We had a small suite for 3 people and the extra room is great for all your shopping! Great staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was OK but perhaps a little basic but it is in the price. Would stay there again and that is... More

The Blakely was a very pleasant surprise. I chose the hotel for it's location close to Central Park, Carnegie Hall and the subway. The hotel has the feel of a gentleman's club and the staff are all extremely helpful. The room we had had 2 queen beds which were very comfortable, air conditioning, a small kitchenette area with a coffee... More

We booked The Blakely through booking.com before visiting the city in May. As soon as we walked in, we knew we were at a classy place. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite which was incredibly spacious and beautifully outfitted. Loved the traditional decor with modern amenities. The staff at the front desk, manager, concierge, and cleaning staff were ALL professional,... More

...producing a west coast jazz series, brings me to The City once a year to check out artists, catch a Yankee game and take in a show. Last week was my second stay at The Blakely and I couldn't have been more impressed. Service is an endangered species these days and it is a joy to actually find a place... More

This was so well located in the central park area near Carnegie Hall, Museaums and our bus and several buses let off just steps from here, a quick walk to Times Square but on the outskirts of the hustle an bustle. We could go to Carnegie in seconds, the Famed Russian Tea Room and other great restaurants, and The park... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
