This is a no frills hotel that is in a good location. We found the price and central location made it easy to get to every where we had on our agenda. Our room was very tiny but worked for the three of us, a three generation girl trip. We were not lucky to get a room with a view... More

Just woke up from a great nights sleep. The room was the cleanest I have ever seen in a Hotel. This old building is extremely well taken care of. Huge plus is a nice size small fridge. Room wasn't huge but we didn't come here to spend hours in it. Nice fresh free breakfast and 24 hrs free coffee and... More

Almost no room to move around. Bathroom very tiny, shower stall only. Little frayed but very clean. Good lighting. Breakfast so-so. Discount parking available but werent told in advance. Hampton inn nearby better choice, if prices comparable.

We had reservations here for one night the weekend prior to Christmas. Our train arrived at Penn Station at 9:30 am. Our plan was to walk to the hotel and have them hold our bags while we did some touring. When we arrived at the hotel, we were immediately greeted by the desk staff and asked if we were checking... Older hotel structure but they have maintained it. It was centrally located allowing us access to the subway and walking distance to anywhere. Includes a very nice breakfast and all the staff were extremely helpful. Plan to stay here again on my next stay.

This hotel is well maintained, clean, and well managed. It has the character of a 105 year building yet is in great shape. It is about 1/2 walk from Times Square, or 3 stops on the R train. Well located for train transportation which is easy to navigate. Breakfast bar is really great, and there is shuttle service to the... More

excellent location and value for the price. Highly recommend this location and will stay here again when in New York. We had a family room and this worked really well with four ladies travelling together.

The Comfort Inn in Chelsea is affordable, simple, and well located in Manhattan. Nothing special except, maybe, the nifty old ceilings in the lobby and the sparkly chandeliers in the breakfast room. It has the feeling of having once been a tad more elegant. My daughter and I needed a place to stay in the upper East Side. Not being... More

Checking in was easy, concierge was helpful, room was small (as expected in NYC) but very comfortable and quiet (even on the 2nd floor), free Wi-Fi speed was average for hotels, and breakfast was good (we enjoyed the fruits, sausages, and make-your-own waffles the best). Subway is a good way to get around but the subway system is old. You... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighborhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of the city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets - much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighborhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being home to a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
