Arriving at this hotel rather late at night, after a long flight, the staff on reception were absolutely lovely! Lending us a multi plug when we'd forgotten ours, so we could charge our phones- gifting us with a bottle of champagne to celebrate our Honeymoon, and being available at all hours to help us. Truly fantastic service. The room was... More

Well-located for us to visit our NYU student. Friendly and helpful staff, and well-priced. A couple of hiccups: The mattress in Room 812 needs to be replaced--the front desk was advised in great detail at check-out. Also, the room was too hot, but that seems par for older buildings in winter in NYC. Otherwise charming with a European feel. With... More

...along a quiet alleyway off 8th avenue. I would pay more for a better room as the king size beds are huge! The hotel is clean, with helpful staff for directions and overall, offered a worthy stay for a reasonable price. highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed here for 3 nights and found the hotel to be ideal. The hotel is well located in the Village with the metro close by for good, easy links for NYC. The room was small but well appointed. There were all the normal things in the room, coffee, hair drier etc. The room was clean, tidy and well maintained.... More

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for nine days in late December. The location of the Washington Square Hotel is excellent if you want to be in the area near New York University and Washington Square. The room was comfortable though small, and all the amenities expected such as effective heating, an iron and ironing board, TV, coffee... More

I stayed here with my fiance over New year's for six nights and loved it. Th rooms were just what we needed and kept us warm during the cold nights in New York of up to -4. The free breakfast was the perfect way to start our day and kept us going long after we left for the day. The... More

I spent two nights at the Washington Square Hotel in a very small room on the second floor that overlooked the air shaft. Pros: The hotel location is outstanding, in the middle of Greenwich Village and half a block from a subway stop. The lobby is pleasant. My room was clean and attractive and felt recently updated, and the bathroom... More

We stayed for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon and loved it. We have previously stayed at this hotel in 2012 and enjoyed it so much we stayed here again. It did not disappoint at all. The room was spacious, the breakfast amazing and the location perfect (if you don't enjoy the madness of midtown). The staff are lovely... More

This Hotel is over 100 years old but has been updated with many wonderful details, a perfect marriage between old and new. I had the "Penthouse". It was totally remodeled with a beautiful large bathroom, a seating area with a daybed and a sleeping area with a single bed, perfect for me. You can see the Empire State Building changing... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
