Location is amazing if you love Greenwich Village, West village , Soho, Chelsea, Flatiron even East Village , all are within steps to 15 minute walk max. Unfortunately that is the only positive, we were a family of four, beds are way too small and as a previous reviewer wrote our AC was not working either, it was too hot... More

Overall, we were happy with out five-night's stay. We were up high enough in the hotel that the busy-ness of the elevator didn't bother us. Our room was immediately adjacent to the elevator and it did not bother us at all. We stayed Dec. 7-12 while the outdoor temps were in the 30s and 40s. We had to leave our... More

This boutique hotel is an absolute gem located in Greenwich Village right across from Washington Square Park. The decor is vintage luxury reminiscent of Parisian boutique hotels . Photos of celebrities from the 30's & 40's hang on the walls in the modestly sized rooms that are otherwise quite simple. Clean and cozy and completely wonderful, this is my new... More

Stayed here over a weekend on a return trip to the city. Location can't be beat: right down the street from Wash Square Park, easy subway access and in the heart of NYU and Greenwich. As others have mentioned, the rooms are pretty cozy and the rates are lofty, but probably on-par with other boutique hotels in the area. The... More

This hotel has a great location ,thus the three stars. However they need new mattresses ! The rooms in NYC are small ,but this was coffin like. AC didn't work and I needed to open the window. Noisy guests kept me awake until after 1AM . Staying in the second floor was helpful as I was able to take the... More

This hotel is an absolute treasure. When you walk in it is art deco all over the place. After staying in this boutique hotel so many times it is for us like "home coming". And that was already also our expierence when we visited the hotel for the first time. The doorman Ron, the receptionist Margareth and her collegues, Vicky,... More

I've stayed at this hotel twice now. Small, quaint, friendly. My first stay in a deluxe twin was nicer then in the superior twin because the bathroom was nicer. They were very helpful when I needed assistance. Location is great and away from the heavy tourist crowds. Great hotel for NYU parents or those looking to shop in SoHo area.... More

A friend and I stayed here for several days while visiting her son nearby. The vibe in the lobby gives a nod to the hotel's musical lineage with colorful, jazzy tile murals. Small bar/breakfast room area (we never got to try). The front desk staff and doormen were extremely friendly, eager to give you info about the area and the... More

Very nice hotel. Rooms are very small but a bit larger than other New York hotels. The hallways are laughably narrow, but again, typical for New York. The staff is great and very helpful. There is a nice free breakfast. The best part is the location. We were visiting our son at NYU and it was very convenient. You are... More

This hotel is a good choice if you are looking for a clean, reasonably priced hotel in a good location. The hotel room we had was quite small but perfectly adequate for us since we had no plans to spend much time in it. Importantly for me, the room was very clean. Although at the front of the hotel, close... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
