Stayed here for 4 days recently. Check in was fine. I did not like the room allocated to me as it had no window just an opening on to a shaft and I was moved to another room at the end of a rather dingy corridor which had a window and was small but adequate. There were two Aircon machines... More

Loads of history (Hemingway, Dylan, Baez, and more lived here at one time), very friendly and helpful staff, fresh continental breakfast with great coffee, good pastries and fruit etc., relatively spacious (for NYC) rooms with comfortable beds, around the corner from the subway, free wi fi, impeccably clean! Near Greenwich Village, NYU, and on the corner of Washington Square. What... More

I know New York hotels are small normally, but this room was tiny. I've been on cruise ships where the rooms were larger and for the price per night you got three meals. The hotel has no way to deal with parking other than to tell you there is a garage 3 blocks away. No valet parking or garage on... More

I have never stayed in the Village before on my many trips to NYC and all I can say is WOW! This is a cute hotel, very nice rooms, located in a neighborhood. Very quiet yet close to fantastic restaurants and easy walking to the subway.

The exact location we wanted. Next to Washington Square Park and Greenwich village. Rooms were clean and well kept, bathrooms were clean, large showers and hot water. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. I felt the hotel was average because of the price, I expected more at the high price.

In Greenwich village , by the Washington Square Park , an old fascioned hotel . Here Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones and Ernest Hemingway and many more have stayed. Greenwich village is still a lively place, with a lot of restaurants and bars. The hotel just some hundred meters from the Subway, or to the Fifth avenue. The rooms are quite... More

Two couples spent four nights at Washington Square Hotel for the 5 Boro, 40 mile bike ride. The hotel rooms were small and had NO view. There were rooms with views, but we did not go to NYC to look out of a window at the city. Saved our money for great food. The rooms were, however, very clean and... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
