The folk rock icon Dylan lived in the building with Joan Baez when the place was known as The Earle. (Read the hotel's web site about him, the Stones, and other famous guests on their web site.) Don't worry. We saw no drug-crazed guests in the current common areas that recall more distant times, i.e. the Gilded Age and Hollywood's... More

Very nice hotel in the best spot in the village. The parade goes a block north and a block west ,so you can get away from it ,recharge and go back for the rest, (Its about 5 hours). Washington square park always has something amusing going on. The hotel gives a free breakfast. Just a few blocks to the subway.

After years of spending every NYC visit in Midtown, our tickets to an off-Broadway play finally gave us the push we needed to stay in the Village. We booked the quad room (two doubles) for my wife, my daughter, and me, and planned our trip around the location. The room was tight for space, and the bathroom more so, but... More

We stayed here so we'd be in walking distance of NYU and it did the trick. We arrived a couple of nights after the blizzard and it was still pretty snowy. Had to unload the suitcases so I could drive around the block and find the parking garage. There were no bellman. My son was able to find someone in... More

Washington Square Hotel is a modern take on a traditional New York hotel. It is perfectly located on the corner of Washington Square park, very central to NYU and 6th avenue. Easy to walk to great cafes, bars or restaurants, and easy access to bus and subway lines. Inside the hotel has an old 1920's flair, beautiful tile and curtains.... More

We stayed in this hotel only for one night at New Year Eve so didn’t really see enough to give full comments. Generally, the hotel is situated in a nice part of Manhattan near Washington Square with an easy access to some cafes and restaurants or subway. It takes about 5-7 mins walking to the nearest subway station. As majority... More

Hello London, We appreciate you taking the time to write a review, as well as highlighting the positives of your stay with us. We are deeply sorry about your breakfast experience. Our continental breakfast, while free, almost always maintains quite a variety of options including scones, muffins, bagels, toast, cereals, and cheese. If that was not present during your stay,... Great hotel, excellent value and location. Good breakfast, lovely neighbourhood. Not sure how it can be so affordable in this neighbourhood. Nothing more to say really, just need to get to minimum character limit for tripadvisor. Quite annoying.

Very friendly staff, especially the front desk. The rooms are not super modern, but have a certain charm. I loved the location close to NYU, the park, and great restaurants within walking distance. The staff at breakfast was not the most attentive. Because of that I would have preferred to be able to serve myself to save time.

We've tried to get into this hotel in the past and finally snagged a room for the weekend after Thanksgiving. Asked for a park view and got it. Though the view was from the smallest room I think I've ever stayed in that actually had a view. (Have had a couple of air shaft view rooms in the NYC Plaza... More

This was my second time here. I found the bellman to be nice and friendly again. Always willing to give recommendations and help get you a cab. The rest of the staff were friendly but didn't necessarily go out of their way to say hello or good night unless you said something to them. That's fine though. Check in was... More

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
