This is my third stay at Hotel 17, and I recommend it to my colleagues who travel to NYC on business. It is a no-frills operation, and the rooms are small. (Tip: if you're tall, spend a few extra bucks for a double.) If you're looking for an included breakfast, a pool or a business center, this isn't the one.... More

For a lower-scale hotel this was a great place to stay. Nice room, very quiet, good service, clean bathrooms. Easy access to subways and a quick walk to NYU campus. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to friends.

I stayed here for three nights, and literally only used it for sleeping and showering so the fact it was quite basic didn't bother me. Yes, you have to share a bathroom, which was cleanish but could do with a major sprucing up. I did have to wait in the morning for a shower but probably because everyone set their... More

Hotel 17 is the only place we stay in NYC for a number of reasons. It is a very basic hotel, but nobody spends any time in their hotel room in NYC so there is no reason to spend lots of money on a room you will not use - save your money for all the amazing (and expensive) experiences... More

Good Things - Was passing through NYC in the and needed somewhere cheap and clean in Manhattan. I booked online 2 days before arriving and was pleasantly surprised. Quiet, clean and with aircon I could not hear the hustle and bustle outside. Bad Things - The downside was that toilets and showers were in the hallway so it was in... More

For a cheap, by NYC standards, bed in Manhattan for a night - this place is a great option. It's a basic hotel - safe, very clean, decent bed, great location, but it's just a place to sleep. Beds are firm and not big, bathroom is down the hall, rooms are small (but hey, I've paid twice the price for... More

Great location, close to subway, restaurants and food stores. Quaint older hotel with friendly staff. It does have shared bathrooms. Only downside was the window (at the head of bed) was drafty. Building has central radiator heating, no individual heat control in room. When I requested another blanket one was delivered quickly, a space heater initially offered at front desk,... More

The hotel it's self was kind of a hole but the staff were very nice and accommodating. The hotel hallways smelled like pee and I don't mean a little it smelled like a baby's diaper. The bathroom is a floor shared and is creepy. The hotel has window A/C units and they are very loud even with ear plugs. That... More

We stayed here two nights and did just fine. When reserved online directly through the hotel's website, which gave us an automatic discount. We asked for and were given a double room with a sink. (Keep in mind this hotel does not have bathrooms inside the rooms. You have to go down the hall and share.) At check in, we... More
