Welcoming arrival at reception. The place must be popular because taxi driver knew the address by hotel name. Housekeeping's staff was friendly and did good job. Our shared bathroom was ok, not so big rush there at any time. Location was perfect, nice Gramercy / union square area - friendly staffed cafes and restaurants. Also fabulous Casa Mono, 1 Michelin... I liked staying here during our visit to Manhattan. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. There was very little natural light in our room so it seemed rather dark. The staff at the desk were very helpful and accommodating. They brought up an iron and ironing board within 20 minutes of my request! :)

Awesome place to stay, right next to the Union Square Subway station which is all you really need. Staff were nice room was really nice for an older looking place. This hotel is in the more Residential areas of NYC so you got a real feel of what it would be like to live there.

Needed somewhere to stay for a touristy weekend in New York. Hotel 17 fit the bill. Price was good, rooms / bathrooms were clean / staff were pleasant. The hotel had a luggage room which was appreciated. The rooms were quite old but you get what you pay for. Only complaints would be that the wifi was non-existent on the... More

If you're going to NYC, you're only going to need your hotel room to stash your stuff, catch some sleep, and shower. Hotel 17 is absolutely perfect for that. I knew what to expect going in: small room, shared bathrooms. But again, I was sleeping there and spent the majority of my time in the room with my eyes shut.... More

We only stayed one night at Hotel 17 but we were very pleased. It was very clean and organised. The staff was helpful and friendly. We stayed at the Double Tree before and this hotel was actually better. The location is great too, a few blocks from Union Square and not far from East Village. Definitely recommend it for people... Situated in Gramercy a short walk from Union Square. It is a Victorian era house with plenty of dark heavy wood. My room was a reasonable size with a TV, safe and wash basin in the room. There was minimal hanging space for clothes but no drawer space. The shared toilets and bathrooms were very clean and I never had... More

Stayed for 5 nights. Room was quite small but had all essentials, including a sink and a safe. Most of all it was clean and quiet. Wifi worked slowly but acceptably. Staff very courteous and shared bathrooms were maintained often. Location is great for Union Square and therefore easy for uptown or downtown travel. Recommended for single travellers, couples or... Customers on the 6th floor share 4 bathrooms. Bathrooms are clear. Attendant are very polite. Wifi signal is not good. Location is great, 8 mins walk to Union Square and take subway/train(this is what New Yorker call the subway)/underground. Restaurant and grocery near by.

I booked my reservation with Hotel 17. I understood that it would be a "shared bathroom" situation. This was not a problem! The two bathrooms on each floor were adequate so that there was only a short wait-time, if any! The hotel is very centrally located, close to Gramercy and Stuyvesant Park, a short walk to busses and subways. It... More
