I stayed at the Salisbury Hotel on W 57th for the first time almost 20 years ago, and I keep returning both for its outstanding location (same block as Carnegie Hall, 2 blocks from Central Park and 1 block from 5th Ave) and its huge suites. Seriously, the 1 bedroom suites are probably larger than many of the studio apartments... More

We visited NYC for the first time in December. The goal was to be close to Times Square and Central Park. The Salisbury Hotel is definitely the place to be! The hotel is dated; however everything worked properly and the room with the two full beds is very spacious. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

You cannot beat the inexpensive, large, clean rooms at the Salisbury. Throw in a great breakfast for $10 apiece, a friendly and helpful staff and you cannot go wrong. We only wish the heating could be turned off or at least down and the elevator wait was not so long.

Located across the street from Carnegie Hall, 2 blocks from Central Park, 1.5 blocks from 5th Ave, & 10 min walk to Time Square. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Rooms have maintained their 1930s design while still delivering on current expectations such as flat screen consoles. Breakfast & internet cost extra. Front desk & lobby staff... More

This little hotel is exceptional value for its location. The decor is a little dated and quaint but everything was in good condition and functional and clean. Unfortunately for our 6 night stay we got a room with no fridge/kitchenette or even coffee making facilities, but it was compensated for by the spaciousness of the room. Convenience stores, and subway... More

We spent 4 nights at the Salisbury recently. It was fine for the price but only satisfactory. One of the two elevators was broken the entire time we were there which made for long lines. As we were on the 11th floor we only made the trip by stairs once! It also seems to attract a great number of groups... More

I had to change the reservation due to snow storm and the staff who answered the call refused to do it (in the most rude way) because of the policy. I understand the policy so I asked to speak with the supervisor or the general manager or anyone in charge that day. Because sometimes when I speak with them, they... More

Great spacious room with kitchenette and good bathroom. Breakfast probably not very enticing but would be good for family and filling up before a day out and about! Depends if its in with your package - if not would suggest as another reviewer the Astro diner which is close by. Staff at hotel helpful especially on last day - helped... More

Situated only a short walk away from Central Park, Times Square and most Central Manhattan attractions, The Salisbury made a great base for our visit to the Big Apple. While it sounds grand to say we stayed in a suite, This was an inexpensive, while jaded looking, gem. Very spacious rooms, a kitchen area and cupboard space to match the... More

This was our 5th stay at The Salisbury, again in a 1 bedroom suite. Yes the rooms are a little tired but I guess any update would mean a price increase and I prefer cheap, spacious and clean to chic, modern and expensive. Didn't have the hotel breakfast as it's not cheap, go to Astro diner (55th & 6th) or... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
