Stayed in April. Had a good holiday. room large and comfortable. location ok but depends what you want to do. reasonable walk to time square but close to central park. only had breakfast in hotel twice and it was ok. Pleased that we had no noise or temperature problems, Did not find reception staff either helpful or otherwise. The concierge... More

We stayed there in early May and found the location to be very convenient to restaurants, the subway at Columbus Circle, Central Park, and theaters. There were many restaurants on 9th Avenue, and a couple of good reasonably priced local diners. Being my first time to New York in years, my first picks were like the Doubletree or Hilton, but... Best part of the Holiday Inn on West 57th? Truly a fantastic location!! Close to shopping, theatres, Central Park, great restaurants! Hotel also has a great concierge! Friendly & extremely knowledgeable concierge staff! Free wireless was another treat! The not so good: Please note: If you book this hotel online (which I did), please read the fine print. Turns out,... More

The location and the concierge staff were wonderful: close to time square, central park, theaters, shops and restaurants. However, everything else was pretty substandard. This was my fist visit to the big city and I wanted to stay in a central place. My trip was work related, so I wanted a hotel that was functional at a low price- my... More

I have stayed at this hotel on at least 5 previous occasions. THIS WAS THE LAST! Although the locations is ideal, the physical plant, guestrooms, common areas and restaurants are in DESPERATE need of renovation. The building has not had a makeover since the late 1980's. We suffered for three days without air conditioning. (apparently, this is a frequent problem... More

It took hours on Trip Advisor to find a hotel in Manhattan that was under $300 per night and yet had a decent review. This hotel met those requirements. ($250/night). The hotel was clean, well decorated rooms, big rooms, friendly and helpful staff. The location was great too. We walked everywhere or hopped on the subway just a block or... More

I had a group stay here in April. The rooms were small and dirty. I have booked some doubles, and mostly singles. When the group arrived they didn't have the doubles available so the put a rollaway in the room!! At almost $300.00 per night I expected better. The front desk was rude and really didn't seem to care if... More

Couldn't fault the place for it's location for all the attractions in NYC. The staff were friendly, especialy the porters but at times the reception in my view was undermanned and they struggled with our group - (13 men on a 60th stag). The Bar service was good, although a little pricey, and it offered no draught beers. Though the... More

I returned from a stay at this hotel with my 2 teenage daughters for an Easter Spring Break trip. It's just far enough off the beaten path to be relatively quiet, especially if your rooms are on the back side of the hotel. We never heard the horns and sirens from the streets. There were, however, a fair number of... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
