We stayed here in mid October for 5 nights. When I booked the hotel I had requested a high floor, non smoking room. We were given a smoking room by mistake, which we instantly got changed to a non smoking room fairly easily. The new room (which didn’t smell) was in the main tower on the 8th floor. The 3... More

When we checked in the staff were very friendly and helpful. When we got to our room it was very big and clean and the beds were very comfortable however the bathroom was just ok it needed redecorating. we didn't have any meals at the hotel and the other thing is that you have to walk quite a bit to... We travelled across the USA on a tour organised by Great Rail Journeys of York between the 7th and 27th October 2009. We had 3 nights in New York at the Holiday Inn Midtown. We thought this was a hotel in big need of refurbishment – the decor was dark (greens, deep reds and browns) and faded and tired looking.... More

This hotel wins on price and location! You can't argue that it represents good value and the rooms/bathrooms are more than adequate. However, it is greatly let down by the staff who treated us as if everything was too much trouble. We had booked 2 rooms for a family re-union each travelling from opposite ends of the world but in... More

Part of a longer journey to USA - stayed 3 nights.Extremely poor reception with non American staff. Overall impression of the hotel was that it needed a refit - drab. Very good sized rooms. Position good for Opera and Central Park but out of the way for other attractions and not particularly well sited for the subway. Did not eat... More

My partner and I stayed for a week in September in a north facing room (no direct sun for most of the day) Very dark ; the room had a distinctive damp smell the entire time (even after cleaners had been through). The bathroom was particularly bad. Ended up buying deodoriser from the corner store. The room itself was tired... More

If your visiting New York for a week or less I would recommend this hotel, sure it's nothing special but it's reasonably priced and in a good location. If you're like me then you only want somewhere to put your head down for the night as you'll be out sightseeing etc., and this is the place for just that. The... More

It was a great location-near Central Park and a reasonable walk away from Times Square. The rooms were good-sized and it was clean & mod priced

We stayed at the 57th st Holiday Inn and what a great neighborhood that is in the summer. Just a quick walk away from Central Park, and Lincoln Center. A block from the subway. Overall a great trip. That hotel is nasty though, and we stayed there based on reviews from Trip Advisor, so I don't know what's going on... More

Stayed here in May - booked direct on hotel website. Got room on top floor with amazing views of the city. Left curtains open at night just for the view Room bigger than I had expected and very clean. Downside - not enough lifts. Very handy for the subway and only 20 min stroll to Rockerfeller Centre. Would stay there... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
