I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel, in view of many of the reviews on this website. We stayed for four nights at the end of September / beginning of October as a prelude to a tour of New England. The hotel was booked for us by the tour company so was not chosen by us. When i consulted... More

It's >70F out, raining, and the room air conditioners are off? Mngmnt cited a state law, yet the lobby is air conditioned. The rooms ($150 two years ago) are now $280/nt. I sort of expected air conditioning. I also believe this HI is showing it's age since my last visit and review a few years ago.The common areas like hallways,... More

Really uninspired stay at the Holiday Inn. For about $50 more a night, I could've stayed at the W and avoided: * Hearing every conversation in the room next door, thanks to paper thin walls * The flies, mosquitoes, and moths that roamed my room * The mysterious non-mosquito bites I woke up with this morning * The cigarette smoke... We had a reservation for a 3 People / 2 bedrooms Room, booked and paid through a Travel Agent. Once we got there they just sent us to a single bed room. Once there I called front desk and was told that the 2 bedroom reservation was not guaranteed and they had no such rooms available, but they had a... More

Stayed for 3 nights and didn't have any major issues with the hotel. We were on the 4th floor and both my friend and I slept well and never heard any other guests. The room was pretty large for just the two of us. The hotel was in a quieter neighborhood, which was nice. Closest subway station we used was... More

The hotel is well situated, the breakfast is good but several of my students had their stay spoilt because they complained of large sums of money ($800.00 altogether )and electronic items having disappeared in their rooms. We reported the thefts to the security who said he was going to check who had entered the rooms and he concluded that my... More

the room was not too small and quite silent, since we were looking backwards. The linen was white and clean, with a selection of pillows. The overall decoration is not beautiful, but if you dont have too much expectations, it is bearable. However the hallways had an unpleasant air freshener fragrance. And I would have loved to enjoy the pool,... More

This hotel is housed in an very large, unattractive building, and is showing its age, as soon as you walk into the lobby you know what you are in for: shabby (un)chic, average service, average facilities, and average rooms. It also helps to know that this hotel is frequented by tour groups, especially from Eastern Europe, and this will give... More

We booked through priceline and got a good deal on this hotel. When we booked in we were told we had a double smoking room. As we are both non smokers we requested a non smoking room but were informed that none were available. The corridor leading to the room was very smoky but the room wasn't too bad (although... More

Room was big enough for the two of us, we had a nice view of the city from our window and the bed was really comfortable. We were a bit afraid of bed bugs raiding the city, but this hotel did NOT have any...very comforting to know that. The only set back at this hotel, no local TV stations, just... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
