The actual hotel itself was beautiful , our room was lovely , a bit dated , extremely comfortable beds , new linen and towels every day and the bathroom was exquisite but that where the compliments end. On arrival my sister and I were left to struggle through 2 sets of heavy doors with 4 suitcases nobody offered any assistance... More

Just 4 blocks from Grand Central Terminal, this hotel provides a quiet escape from the hectic pace of the city. The rooms are furnished with a quiet elegance. For a special treat, make reservations at Jazz at the Kitano. This intimate space affords top jazz performers.

The following review is about an experience with a member of their registration staff--I've stayed at the hotel a few times and love the rooms. Unfortunately my experience with a member of staff has led me to take my business elsewhere. I had tried to make a reservation using the hotel's website for a same day stay but the website... More

We went to NYC right before Christmas and stayed at the Kitano. It was a nice hotel in a quiet location but without sacrificing accessibility! It was close to a lot of places. It was very clean as well with a nice lobby. I am usually not a picky person when it comes to these details, but adding a mirror... More

I came to New York for work and the company put us up at the Kitano. It's a good hotel, targeted to the Japanese traveler. The elevators are quite small, like most boutique hotels. The room was more spacious than I expected, as New York rooms can be small. Safe is included; but there is no ironing board/iron - have... More

A nice hotel, well maintained but somehow if you stay here you feel deprived of NYCs energy which for me personally was a bummer,so it lacks here. Overall a decent place to stay, though I would rate their coffee shop pretty low as they did some real big blunders like, gave me uncooked steak and when I mentioned this, they... More

There are a lot of good things going with this hotel. Very large room. Large bathroom. Japanese luxury with all the amenities of high end hotels including robes, slippers and in-room coffee and tea. Toilet has a lot buttons - you can experience what the Japanese have enjoyed for years! There is hardly any downside. Perhaps, one minor downside is... More

**Disclaimer** - My wife and I very rarely stay at nicer hotels, so I can't say we have TOO much experience here... There were a lot of pros and cons, so I'll list a few: Pros: 1)Location is great 2) Customer service for the most part was excellent 3) They sent us chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary 4) Breakfast... We travel to New York at least two weekends a year for a quick get-away. We've stayed at the Kitano three out of our last four visits. We stayed at the Gansevoort one trip and prefer the Kitano because it is much quieter. The rooms are spacious compared to most hotels, and the bathrooms are always very clean and nice.... More

First time at the Kitano, very proximate for a business trip. Clean, neat, and efficient check-in. Rooms more spacious than some in Manhattan, standard amenities and lots of plugs for electronics. Wifi at times is a bit kludgy, and sometimes connects to the lobby (was staying on the 6th floor) instead of the floor router. Once solved, OK speed -... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
