After a horrifying cab ride from EWR I walked through the lobby doors to experience peace. Gentle classical music played. Exquisite furnishings encouraged you to sit. The gentle and friendly front desk staff welcomed me to an experience that relaxed my body, inside and out. Not to be outdone, the guest rooms featured comfort and cleanliness. I would definitely recommend.

Full transparency, I got this on a special half price deal from one of the travel websites (can I say which one?). At that discounted rate, this hotel was perfect. Beautiful lobby, the room was lovely, the bathroom was decked out with some really cool features (not to be graphic, but the Toto toilet seat was very efficient) and the... More

We stayed for one night at The Kitano, and stayed in a Jr Suite. It was massive by NYC standards. Large sitting area, large bathroom with separate shower and separate tub, plus a bidet/toilet combo. Heated towel racks too! The only thing that we found odd---- we had two full-sized beds, but they were pushed together under one large headboard.... More

stayed three nights, 1 night in a suite with a view, following in a double without the view. The suite shower and safe didn't work, which I found to be unacceptable for such a property. The next room had everything in order. Room amenities include ironing board, nice size bathrooms, minibar frig, tv. Front desk staff was helpful and prompt.... More

This is more of a solo traveler hotel. Maybe I got unlucky but the room was ridiculously small. Huge disappointment considering the reviews on here. Everything else was fine. The hotel is centrally located and the service was okay.

I have lived in Tokyo for over three decades and have travelled widely in Asia where "Tier 1" hotels are abundant. My expectations for hotels in New York over the years are modest by comparison. The Kitano Hotel (selected because of its proximity to my NY office and Japanese name--the owner is Japanese) was an unexpectedly pleasant experience. The rooms... More

I visited the Kitano New York on a one night stay for business. From the Monet you walk in the door, you are graciously greeted and taken care of. The room accommodations wet exceptionally clean, well maintained and comfortable. The room was oversized with two queen sized beds, and a large closet and bathroom. There are ample extra to address... More

Booked this hotel based on Tripadvisor reviews and the desire to be far away from the madding crowds of St Patricks Day. Ours was a one night stay prior to leaving on a cruise the next day. We had tickets for an early curtain show, which kept us from trying the restaurant. The hotel was immaculate, the desk staff and... More

A nice hotel for someone that loves miso soup and rice for breakfast. It has good access to midtown. Better to use taxi to go to uptown. The room is compact, clean and well-equipped. They charged wifi.

The Kitano New York is a solid and safe choice. It is quiet, clean, and you can tell that in its design, the hotel values quality over trendiness. The Japanese ownership bestows corresponding amenities. A Toto toilet seat that stays heated, and provides multiple cleaning options for the user. A hot water dispenser allows you to make tea and coffee... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
