Booked this hotel based on Tripadvisor reviews and the desire to be far away from the madding crowds of St Patricks Day. Ours was a one night stay prior to leaving on a cruise the next day. We had tickets for an early curtain show, which kept us from trying the restaurant. The hotel was immaculate, the desk staff and... More

A nice hotel for someone that loves miso soup and rice for breakfast. It has good access to midtown. Better to use taxi to go to uptown. The room is compact, clean and well-equipped. They charged wifi.

The Kitano New York is a solid and safe choice. It is quiet, clean, and you can tell that in its design, the hotel values quality over trendiness. The Japanese ownership bestows corresponding amenities. A Toto toilet seat that stays heated, and provides multiple cleaning options for the user. A hot water dispenser allows you to make tea and coffee... More

We went for a night. Great location. Walking distance to many of NYC's landmarks. The room was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the sunday Jazz brunch. Tony Middleton is a great entertainer. I am not a huge jazz fan but can appreciate great music and musicians. The brunch itself is small but very good! Great way to start a... More

The hotel is centralized located on Park and 38. Walking distance to Times square, Macys, Union square. We had a great experience there. Very Elegant, very quiet, very clean. The "Jazz in the Kitano" club is very pleasant, and lets you spend the evenings you don't go out in a great way. We encountered a Japanese flower exhibition there -... More

Centrally located right near grand central station makes this hotel a perfect spot for those with work in midtown. The hotel is a relatively small "boutique" hotel with a welcoming lobby and nice rooms. The staff is very polite and efficient. There is a restaurant off of the lobby that serves a jazz brunch and has jazz nights throughout the... More

Great hotel in a brilliant location. Close enough to walk to most midtown attractions yet set back from main tourist areas so can relax after a long day trekking the Manhattan sidewalks. Stones throw away from Grand Central station, the food court there is a perfect way to start your day. Only need to walk a few blocks to find... More

We spent the weekend at the Kitano and were generally very happy with our experience. The major advantage to the Kitano is its strong sense of peacefulness and order--- the lobby is smallish but quite quiet. The staff is very focused on service in what seems like a traditional Japanese sense--- very responsive, and extremely polite. And the location is... More

On a recent trip, the Kitano welcomed us by placing us in a small, dark, dreary room with two beds huddled morosely in a corner, directly adjacent to the service elevator. (On the bright side, there were no barking dogs, no train tracks and no loud honky-tonk nearby.) "Huh," I thought, after thinking a few other, less printable things. "Why,... More

We spent the weekend here for the jazz set on Saturday. The room was average size. The bathroom tub was nice and deep so I was able to relax in a bath after the show. The room is equipped with a bidet and a towel warmer. Overall the experience was average.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
