The only thing I could complain about is that 4 people were staying in room and they would only give us 3 towels so we always had to call otherwise we had a wonderful time. The hotel restaurant was wonderful. The front desk was very helpful.

I stood here a few times for business and thought that my mum would love the museum across the street. One front desk agent that has always accommodated me in every way was Frances. Always very friendly, helpful and warm. I came here with my mum and dad a few days ago and Expedia had booked me a very tiny... More

We have just stayed at the Excelsior. The location is good, close to Central Park and 81 st street subway station. The room was spacious and clean, but dark. No coffee making facilities, which seems unusual for this class of hotel. No free wifi in the room. I would have expected more for the price I paid.

Normally the folks working at the front desk at the Excelsior (my family stays here about 10 nights/yr, and my husband and I are here for 5 nights while our apartment 5 blocks away gets renovated) have a "could care less" kind of attitude -- they're neither friendly nor nasty -- but the person working the front desk tonight on... I stayed here along with several other friends, we enjoyed the large rooms and the location. Right across the street from the Museum of Natural History, just blocks from several subway stops and steps away from Central Park. Every morning and evening we just enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. There are tons of nice restaurants very nearby. I felt like... More

I was glad to book this hotel because it is close to many enjoyable places as well as far enough from the caos of Time Square. Great value, beautiful environment. The only problem I encountered was that my room, which I shared with my daughter, was stifling hot and we had to keep a window open at all times.

The front desk person is the first impression of the hotel for the guest.I am sure the all bad review about the rude staff in the front desk is because of her the rest of the staff is ok. Frances never had eye contact or even and smile ,nasty ,rude, and unwelcoming.Maybe she is working for the competition to throw... More

We stayed in Dec 2014 ..thankfully for only 3 nights. We arrived to scaffolding on the outside. Our room was ok, we had to ask for more towels, we had 3 face towels & 1 hand towel. The bathroom needed some attention. The toilet seat was peeling. The main concern was the draught from the old windows. The room became... More

Bad customer service let's this place down. On checking out I was asked to go back to the 11th floor to get the kettle from the room. Really strange request from a receptionist, especially considering I had my 4 month old in my arms at the time. On refusing to go back up, I was given a dirty look and... More

The location of this Hotel is fantastic far enough away from tourist areas so that's its not noisy and overcrowded but close enough to Subway lines that getting about is very easy. Check in was quick and efficient if not a little clinical and impersonal and door man was on hand to help with bags from the Cab. We stayed... More
