The room/suite was lovely. The room could use a refrigerator and a coffee maker. The phones and the clocks were not working but the location is terrific and convenient to everything. There are very nice flat screen TV's in both rooms and the lighting is good. There are not a lot of outlets in the bedroom so an extension cord... More

We came to New York to visit colleges with our older daughter and sight see with our younger daughter. Rather than two rooms, they suggested a room with two double beds and a living room separated by French doors. It was perfect. There was plenty of room. Also, the hotel seemed very busy, but it was very quiet. We could... More

The hotel was very central to the places we wanted to visit. They stuffed up our booking but were able to recover and provide us with what we had ordered. Clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Loved the restaurant/library, heaps of character.

We booked a suite and 2 regular rooms for our large group and we were upgraded to 3 park view suites. The space is wonderful with a large bedroom and a nice sized sitting room with bathroom that's small but had plenty of room for our various toiletries. Full length mirror outside the bathroom. Temperature easy to regulate. Location is... More

This hotel is in a great location for exploring New York City by foot, bus or subway. The Excelsior is clean, safe and well managed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is across the street from the Natural History Museum and Central Park. The neighborhood is quiet at night, so you can get a good night's sleep.... More

We had a view of the Museum of Natural History from the sitting room and very comfortable private twin queen bed bedroom. The room was exceptionally quiet, clean, well furnished and provided a terrific hot shower. An exceptional find and value for NYC!

We were upgraded to a mini-suite and given a refrigerator and kettle at our request with no extra charge. We enjoyed a large sized room and comfortable bathroom. The only negative was no view at all. The location is fantastic, and there is a busy restaurant in the lobby which we did not try, but looked very tempting. Would come... More

We stayed more then once in this hotel. The last visit was from Dec 31, 2014 to Jan 6, 2015. It is very well located just aside the Central Park, with easy access to metro, what means easy access to the best attractions of NYC. The accomodations are clean and decorated in a sort of Victorian style. We enjoyed the... More

Very nice room with great service. Pleasantly surprised with size of room. Had wonderful view of Central Park and Museum of Natural History. Walking distance to both it and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Will stay there again.

staff are ambivalent; rooms don't fully function, broke hairdryer, tub doesn't drain, no hot water. There are a few rooms I have had which are more acceptable, but it is the luck of the draw or if you complain you can get these. Mostly king bed rooms. I am not staying here again.
