Location - on edge of Central Park and 2 minutes from subway station. Décor - was very clean and well maintained. Staff - very helpful and friendly Food - only had breakfast each morning but it was typical stuff and perfectly adequate. Price - I got an excellent price booking early. In room wifi was not free (but was not... More

Hi we stayed here for 5 nights in early July, in general it does everything it says on the tin...ideal for those looking for a base to then head out and explore the city. 2 mins walk to the metro (underground) which is great for getting around and plenty of local food & coffee houses at a reasonable rate. Rooms... More

Very friendly staff. A bit far from the most highlights but public transport services are very close. Near Central Park. Next time we go here again. Big clean room with very nice beds. Restaurant and bar available. Opposite American museum of natural history and strawberry fields.

We had booked this motel through our travel agent, 12 months prior, it was not cheap either. When we arrived, the desk clerk was a stuffy rude person, his assistant was pleasant.Off to our room, we booked for a queen bed and was given a room with 2 single beds, it was so small there was nowhere we could unpack... My fiance and I stayed here for 7 days. Awesome location. Right across from Central Park and The Museum of Natural History. The hotel offers discounted parking for their guests at the museum for $30/day. Great Deal for NY! Room was spacious, clean and quite. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Never used the rental car we had except to visit... More

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into what I though would be a pretty boring property. It was pretty well furnished and tastefully at that. The property was under renovation and so had a lot of associated issues. But we were given a room on the 12th floor which still had a view outside. The room was quite large... More

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The hotel is in a good location, next to Central Park and across the road from the Natural History Museum. Our room was very small (queen bed) but it was clean and comfortable with a great view towards the museum. The air conditioning worked very well and the shower was good. There... More

We chose to stay in the Upper West Side because we thought it would be easier on our children (ages 9 and 6) who would need some "down time" after their senses were overstimulated from a day in the city. We chose wisely. The Excelsior's location makes this an excellent hotel for families. The hotel is across the street from... More

Spent 3 nights here & found it very clean & comfortable with fairly spacious rooms for a city like New York. Location superb, close to Central Park. Nice safe area. Breakfast buffet was slightly disappointing, as was lack of free Wifi in room & absence of coffee maker. Overall though, would recommend it. Staff very friendly & helpful

For what we paid, we got only a small room. The bathroom is old and claustrophobic. We can barely find enough room to store luggage. You may be better off staying at more familiar name hotels. However, the location of this hotel is very convenient. The restaurant is pricey.
