We still love this hotel and have always found the staff to be cordial and helpful. The rooms are attractive and clean and the beds are comfortable. We still wish they would make provisions for coffee in the rooms. We enjoy staying here. But this time one big flaw was apparent - the breakfast buffet was deplorable - cold scrambled... More

I came to nyc to take care of my son who was having surgery and picked this hotel to because of the double beds and the outer living room All I can say is WOW. ..Everyone was so helpful and the staff was very cooperative with our needs. This hotel is immaculate and even offers great toiletries. They even have... More

Was very pleasantly surprised to find out at check-in that we got a free room upgrade. We were happy for this because the up-graded room suited our family's needs much better than the room we had booked. I was also pleased with the patience from the hotel staff with our 2 overly excited children. The breakfast buffet was well worth... More

Wonderful quiet safe place to stay. This was my second time staying at the Excelsior. Love it. Beds were great. I now know my way around the park and shopping in the area. Love it.Found a wonderful breakfast place not far away. The Breakfast at the Hotel is pricey for the quality of food.

Across the street from the Natural History Museum and Central Park. Steps from Metro making it 15 minutes from Midtown. Lots of food and beverage options nearby, though the bars/restaurants in the immediate neighborhood closed by midnight. Sub $200 rooms. We found everyone there pleasant and helpful. Our room was not huge, but was clean and up to date. I've... More

The room/suite was lovely. The room could use a refrigerator and a coffee maker. The phones and the clocks were not working but the location is terrific and convenient to everything. There are very nice flat screen TV's in both rooms and the lighting is good. There are not a lot of outlets in the bedroom so an extension cord... More

We came to New York to visit colleges with our older daughter and sight see with our younger daughter. Rather than two rooms, they suggested a room with two double beds and a living room separated by French doors. It was perfect. There was plenty of room. Also, the hotel seemed very busy, but it was very quiet. We could... More

The hotel was very central to the places we wanted to visit. They stuffed up our booking but were able to recover and provide us with what we had ordered. Clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Loved the restaurant/library, heaps of character.

We booked a suite and 2 regular rooms for our large group and we were upgraded to 3 park view suites. The space is wonderful with a large bedroom and a nice sized sitting room with bathroom that's small but had plenty of room for our various toiletries. Full length mirror outside the bathroom. Temperature easy to regulate. Location is... More

This hotel is in a great location for exploring New York City by foot, bus or subway. The Excelsior is clean, safe and well managed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is across the street from the Natural History Museum and Central Park. The neighborhood is quiet at night, so you can get a good night's sleep.... More
