A delightful hotel, However, I did pay extra for a view of the museum and Central Park but got a window with scaffolding and mesh to look out of. I know they can't help this and this will all be resolved when the building work is complete. My only suggestion would be that they stop charging more for a view... More

This our fourth time staying with the Excelsior in New York. Right by a subway stop and the doorman is very helpful with cabs. The rooms are very comfortable, avg size for New York but the bathroom is small. Lots of great locations to dine. Next to museum and 1/2 block to park.

I stayed for 5 nights during August and found the hotel facilities were very good. The hotel room was large enough and certainly not small as some reviews have staed but I was in room 1006 perhaps larger up there?. The bathroom was certainly larger than normal hotels in NY. I would stay there again and would recommend this to... More

We stayed here for one night. The location is great - close enough to the busy center, quiet enough to enjoy the city at your own pace. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, coffee shops near by, a nice walk to Central Park etc. Nice comfortable beds, beautiful lobby, friendly staff.

LOCATION: Like many other reviewers, we❤️the location. It's all here: The American Museum of Natural History, Central Park, subway, restaurant & shopping options, proximity to Sunday markets. It's a quiet, safe & pleasant location (& it's easy to get a cab any time, day or night :-) ROOM: Extremely sad, tiny, dark, dingy, with loud hall noise. The bed was... More

Perfect location, representative look. Most of the staff nice, just one lady at the reception was really unwilling and expressed quite clearly that we intruded. In comparison with other hotels of the same category we missed a fridge, coffee maker and free wi-fi in the room. However, the hotel was clean. And one has to be very assertive to get... More

The front desk staff were disinterested when we checked in. The room was very small with creaking timber floors, cracked wall and floor tiles in the bathroom The bath pug was slow to release the waste. The air conditioner alongside the bed was very noisy when running like a train from platform 9 and 3/4 On a positive note the... More

The front desk staff were disinterested and dismissive when we checked in. They did not welcome us or describe any of the hotel facilities or offer any tourist information. The room was very small with creaking timber floors, no exhaust fan in the bathroom, cracked wall and floor tiles in the bathroom along with shelves above the sink that sloped... More

This was a recommendation from a friend so we tried it... what a great surprise. It's right across the street from Central Park and right across the park from The MET. So centrally located to shopping and yet still a quiet night's sleep. Restaurants abound and to catch a taxi, just stick out your hand.

I stayed here two nights (Wed + Thurs) for a business trip. The location is perfect: right next to Central Park and the Natural History Museum + planetarium, and a subway stop is on the same block. Very easy to get around. If you've stayed in New York, you know that rooms tend to be small. I found the room... More
