Great location across from AMNH and away from the business of Times Square. Perfect for family of four. Room was clean, comfortabel, and large. Staff was friendly. I recommend getting a suite. For the few extra dollars is provides a lot of extra space. Quick trip downstairs to get coffee at restaurant or in coffee machine. Convenient and reasonable. Close... More

First off, We did not end up staying at the Excelsior. We had reservations for two nights this week. A snow storm was coming and our flight canceled the night before leaving for NYC. We were inside the non-refundable period yet the staff could not have been more understanding in canceling the reservation without charge. We will book again. Thank... More

The Excelsior is a quaint hotel which was in a great position, opposite Central Park. It was a lovely relief to come back to this hotel after a busy day in the noisy , hustle and bustle of Time square. The rooms were clean and comfortable just a touch small. The surrounding area was family friendly with some great restaurants... More

We've stayed at the Excelsior four or five times now and have always had a good experience. For what and where it is, I think the rates are very reasonable. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and quiet. It is easily accessible and perfectly located: quiet neighborhood, near the subway (B, C, and 1 trains), right next to the park (directly... More

Great hotel, fabulous service, clean rooms & comfy beds. Fantastic location just down the road from Central Park, close to shops & gormet supermarket as well as right opposite the Natural History Museum. Wish there was free wifi to the rooms however (had to go to lobby or second floor for wifi)

We stayed in this hotel from Dec. 29 to Jan. 3 2015. It was my second time there and my husband and I together- for the first time. We loved the hotel and the restaurant. However at check-out time my husband paid the bill and was given a hard copy of the bill which showed we had one reservation. I... More

I travelled to New York on Tuesday 30th December 2014 and stayed at the Excelsior hotel for 4 nights with my partner. Upon arrival we were greeted by the reception and checked in with no hassle. We had a room on the 6th floor. When we first entered the room it was absolutely freezing!! Me & my partner informed the... More

A welcome respite from Midtown hotels, in a quiet residential neighborhood without hardly any hotels -- perfect for a getaway where you feel less like a tourist and more like a resident of the UWS. Central park and subways are literally right around the corner. Many rooms are suites, which often can be had at the price of a standard... More

We visited this hotel over the Christmas period, the hotel was cosy, festive and inviting. We arrived quite late after a day of travel and went up to our room. I booked a family room letting them know the boys ages at 14 and 16 and it said it had two doubles. The room was clean and had everything you... More
