Our visit to NYC was awesome. We loved the Excelsior Hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, our suite was clean, cozy and comfortable. The Hotel is located in the upper westside across from the Natural History Museum and 1/2 a block from Central Park. So quiet and peaceful. We did a lot of walking in the park. The subway... More

The only possible improvement would be a coffee maker in the room and free wi fi. Staff was helpful but not intrusive. Breakfast was very good and held in a pleasant library atmosphere. Location excellent.

Picked Excelsior for one night before daughter's graduation because its rates, though high by non-New York standards, were better than other offerings in Manhattan. Junior suite was much bigger than expected; huge by NYC standards. Location was fantastic for morning jog in Central Park and for getting around city. Front desk and bell staff were very friendly. They held our... More

We spent four nights at the Excelsior in May; two nights each at the start and end of a trip around the east coast. It was our first time in the USA, so the Excelsior was effectively our introduction to the country. And a very good introduction it was too. The first people we met were the "bellboys" who cheerfully... More

The Excelsior is a great hotel in a great location. It's across the street from Central Park and the Museum of Natural History. And just one short block to the subway. They offer good rates if you can book a special deal. Breakfast buffet is pricey, but very good. And the Cuban bar/restaurant in the lobby is very fun!

I stayed at this hotel for two nights for a recent business trip. I had expected this hotel to be an upscale, four star hotel. I knew it's an older hotel and with that may come with some charm and some outdated elements. But in the end, I just can't tell whether they are trying to be upscale or it... More

Do not be discouraged with the renovations. Once you get in you will find a traditional hotel with decent sized rooms and excellent service. I've been coming here for almost 10 years (since my grand daughter was a small child) and have never been disappointed. The front staff under the strong leadership of Lynn is always helpful. The hotel is... More

We stayed at the Excelsior from May 15 through May 18, 2015. Our stay was one of the most enjoyable weekend trips that we have ever experienced. Our little suite was fine, comfortable, and close to the elevator (as I had requested.) The real pleasure was from the staff. Excellent customer service. I wish we could experience that level of... A good hotel sll to all, good location if you want to run away from the noises in NYC it is right between the park and the museum in the UWS, however, if you want to be walking distance from the square then this is not the place. Just like other NYC hotels, rooms tend to be smaller. Staff are... More

We booked this hotel as part of a package that included arriving on the Queen Mary 2, so the hotel had a tough act to follow in any case - but it failed to inspire at all. The hotel is handy for Central Park and the big Museums. The room was OK and the bathroom looked to be recently refurbished... More
