My daughter and I stay at this hotel each visit to NYC. The location is perfect for walks in Central Park, quick breakfasts on Columbus Street. The rooms are clean and well apportioned. The price is very reasonable for a lovely upper west room.

Pleasant, spacious quiet room with a comfy bed and a desk with a view of the American Museum of Natural History park. Great short walk across Central Park to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Easy to get anywhere via subway, taxi, or Uber. Close to excellent restaurants. I recommend the Excelsior to friends and colleagues; this past trip they could... More

Great location. Nice people. Cozy room. Gracious and clean. Good price for Upper West Side. Many great shops and places to eat and across the street from museum and around the corner from the park. Very European feel. Rooms not large but nice. Get a better breakfast elsewhere for the price and just get coffee at the restaurant!

I stayed at the Excelsior for convenience, needing to be close to an author with whom I was working. My first impression was rather spoiled by the unfriendly, unhelpful and rather stupid desk staff… but the hotel has a nice, old fashioned feel and an overall warmth as you step in from the cold March weather outside. The rooms are... More

We were made to feel very welcome and everyone was so pleasant. Our room was very clean and had everything that we needed. With the hotel only being a very short distance from Central Park, the Museum of Natural History and the Metro everything was close to hand. We would certainly recommend this hotel and would look to stay there... More

You can't beat the location on the Upper West Side -- across the street from the Museum of Natural History and Central Park. The service is Ok as are the rooms. But nothing special. A nice bar on premises. So it is worthwhile if you want Upper West Side. Otherwise not.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel 13th March 2015 for a week. 25 mins walk to Times Square, 5 mins walk to Central park. Room wasn't huge but for the amount of time we spent in it it was enough. Room was cleaned every day and towels changed. All staff were very friendly and were quite happy to... More

We return to this hotel each year for the half marathon. 5 years and counting. We will be back again next year! Central Park, subway, restaurants are all a short walk away. Check out Blondies for a great sports bar.

I have stayed at the Excelsior several times when visiting New York. It is on the upper westside near where I used to live, close to old friends, museums, restaurants, Zabar's, subway and bus routes, and other spots that are especially important to me. The hotel is not ultra luxury but reasonably well maintained and more than adequate with a... More

Everything was convenient. Parking was across the street at the museum. Metro was 1/2 a block away. Central Park 1/2 a block away. Plenty of restaurants with in walking distance. Friendly staff 24 / 7.
