After checking out a lot of places to stay before arriving to NYC, I found this hotel here at TA, so I choose it as my hotel and I could not be happier! Located in a very fancy area, the hotel is near the AMNH and it has the 81st B C subway station just half a block away, just... More

We started staying at the Excelsior in the '90's to visit relatives and friends on the Upper West Side. It was alway consistently good service and accommodations. Stalwart standards. We have stayed elsewhere more recently to be downtown, but now times have come full circle. Family and friends have migrated back to the Upper West Side again. The Excelsior, though... More

Small dated room, nice view. You have to park your car in the underground parking garage across the street at the Natural History Museum and hike a short way thru the park and down the street to the hotel if you aren't cabbing it. A very small unremarkable lobby. Only a sofa and a couple of chairs. For rooms... You... More

My family and I have been to several hotels, and this one was bi-far the worst one yet. 1st off it does not offer free wi-fi in rooms, coffee maker or a frig. A big negative for a family. Their was also trouble with the plumbing in the tub in which in did not drain, and not to mention we... More

Staff - very helpful and friendly Food - only had breakfast each morning but it was typical stuff and perfectly adequate. Price - I got an excellent price booking early. Hi we stayed here for 5 nights in early July, in general it does everything it says on the tin...ideal for those looking for a base to then head out and explore the city. 2 mins walk to the metro (underground) which is great for getting around and plenty of local food & coffee houses at a reasonable rate. Rooms... More

Very friendly staff. A bit far from the most highlights but public transport services are very close. Near Central Park. Next time we go here again. Big clean room with very nice beds. Restaurant and bar available. Opposite American museum of natural history and strawberry fields.

We had booked this motel through our travel agent, 12 months prior, it was not cheap either. When we arrived, the desk clerk was a stuffy rude person, his assistant was pleasant.Off to our room, we booked for a queen bed and was given a room with 2 single beds, it was so small there was nowhere we could unpack... My fiance and I stayed here for 7 days. Awesome location. Right across from Central Park and The Museum of Natural History. The hotel offers discounted parking for their guests at the museum for $30/day. Great Deal for NY! Room was spacious, clean and quite. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Never used the rental car we had except to visit... More

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into what I though would be a pretty boring property. It was pretty well furnished and tastefully at that. The property was under renovation and so had a lot of associated issues. But we were given a room on the 12th floor which still had a view outside. The room was quite large... More
