Had a little trip away with my mum and sister to this fabulous city. We chose the San Carlos as we liked the location. It was within easy walking distance of 5th avenue with good metro links close by too. The room was great lots of room for the three of us and was immaculately clean. The staff on the... More

Rooms are comfortable, (fridge, coffeemaker, microwave, etc.) location is prime, free continental breakfast. It all adds up to a great stay. But the shining stars at the San Carlos are the staff. Housekeeping ("would you like more coffee in the morning, no decaf?") to the front desk and porters who remember your name and go out of their way to... More

stayed here again in Oct. 2014 and as always it is a great place to stay. Location is convenient whether you are doing business or sightseeing. Large rooms...yes large rooms in a city well known for small rooms...comfortable beds/great service from housekeeping and nicely lit bathrooms. Price of course varies but always reasonable given the season and events going on... More

This was my second business-related stay and started off really well. For some reason, during this visit, I was also assigned a handicapped-accessible room. No big deal, however. The positives are that it's very quiet, comfortable bed, Aveda toiletries, free wireless, and you can have the NY Times delivered instead of USA Today. The big con during this stay was... More

This was my first time at the San Carlos and I was really pleased with my stay. The location is central, and the staff was friendly and helpful. As a former NYC resident, it is tough to find a place that checks all the boxes, and he San Carlos certainly did. The room was a decent size by New York... More

I stay here on my business trips to NYC. The staff is exceptional and friendly, the rooms are comfortable, and it is in a very convenient location for me. The bed is comfortable, a little soft, but quite nice, the shower water pressure is great, there is turn down service. This is an excellent little boutique hotel.

Perfectly located hotel, with spacious rooms, lovely service, a complimentary breakfast and a free WiFi that actually works (though you have to log in every time you return). All for a very decent price. I'll be back

Spent one week at the San Carlos and really liked it. San Carlos is very well located. close to Grand Central Station a couple of blocks away from Central Park we both really enjoyed the possibilities. We were there to run the NY Marathon so being central was import. Also since the race finishes at the Central Garden it was... More

This was my second time at this hotel. I have a family of five and finding a hotel to accommodate that is very hard. Our room had two beds and another room with a pullout sofa bed. The room with the sofa bed was large with a kitchenette and small dining table. The bathroom is a nice size and has... More

We were not long term guests and only there for 2 nights. We nevertheless were treated like royalty. My wife commented that it was like the way the Richard Gere character was treated by the hotel in Pretty Woman. The only semi-drawback was that since the building is not too tall, you will not get the vast view of the... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
