Stayed at the San Carlos for one night after a late afternoon doctor appointment. We had a large deluxe double on the 10th floor which was very quiet. The bed and linens were first class and the bathroom sizeable and well appointed. The doorman and the reception staff were exceptionally friendly and greeted us by name each time they saw... More

I continue to book at the San Carlos and I am never disappointed. I love this place. A home away from home. Comfy beds, big clean rooms, breakfast, awesome staff. It's close to the subway, close to restaurants, parking isn't far. This is the place to be!

I specifically booked this hotel because their web site says their rooms are 350 sq ft, which is larger than average for NYC. I was not disappointed. There was plenty of space to walk around plus the room had a small refrigerator and microwave. Overall, the room was clean and nicely outfitted. The rest of the hotel was also quite... More

I stayed here for a three day business trip. The hotel is very nice. The rooms are good size for NY. My view was nice. The service has been great. The staff is very friendly. The location is great and very convenient for the Rockefeller center area of NYC. I would definitely stay here again. The rate was very competitive,... More

We were very happy with our choice of the San Carlos Hotel. The location is mid-town and convenient to many tourist destinations and the train (subway). Our room was very nice, and the bathrobes were a plus for me! Breakfast was good, including fruit and yogurt, cereals and breads. The breakfast room was a little busy a couple times, so... More

Dear Bluemoon152, Thank you for the lovely comments. We appreciate your selecting our hotel for your one week stay in NYC and trust your wife and daughter enjoyed their birthday celebration in the "Big Apple"! In response to your concern about the room keys, we do have a procedure in place. However, we recently hired a new front desk staff... More

We arrived late in the evening and was pleasantly treated. Our room was wonderful, nice size, with tea / coffee maker. Lovely soft dressing gowns were cozy. Aveda toiletries were a lovely touch. Staff were always polite and helpful. Downside was the small breakfast room. It wasn't too bad, but some other guests were disappointing, the kind who piled their... More

This independent hotel made our first trip to NYC complete! Clean, friendly, and with great beds. A special shout out to Andy the bell cap; great advice and directions, even if he is a Yankees fan. :)

Our family of 4 stayed at the San Carlos for 2 nights of sightseeing. It was the perfect location to explore the city, and the staff went out of their way to help. The rooms are large by NY standards and clean, plus our room was extremely quiet and comfortable. After we departed and got five hours outside of NYC,... More

Excellent hotel, very clean, lovely big bedroom (2 double beds), excellent bathroom. Staff very friendly. The room for the continental breakfast is a good idea, could be a little bigger, particularly as guests tended to descend all at the same time (well, they did during my 4 night stay). Breakfast items replenished frequently throughout breakfast time. Would definitely stay here... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
