We feel like we found a real gem of a hotel in midtown/east side. For the price of what most nice, comparable midtown hotels charge for a 300 sq ft room with a King or 2 full beds - we got a 600 sq ft 2 rm suite with 2 queens and a full pull out couch AND a great... More

We stayed here during March 2015 and were pleased with this hotel. It was only 1-2 blocks from the subway station which was a positive as we used the subway all week to travel between sites. The room was nice. We booked a suite with 2 queens and a sofa pullout bed for our family five (3 teens). We liked... More

If you are looking for a super posh, impersonable hotel then this isn't it. What it is though is a super clean, super comfortable, super friendly and extremely peaceful place to relax after a hectic day of visiting New York. Our family of 5 stayed in the family suite. 600 sq ft of space meant we weren't on top of... More

Our first impression of this hotel was being greeted by name when we checked in. What a great way to feel welcome on our first family trip to New York City! We had a room with two queen beds that was perfect for our family of 4 and we were very comfortable during our stay. The hotel is very conveniently... More

My friends and I had a girls night out in NYC and booked 2 rooms next to each other at this hotel. The hotel was great, nice staff, beautiful rooms, comfortable beds. Even though the hotel is in the heart of manhattan the rooms were quiet from the street noise. We were on the 9th floor which may have helped... More

My employer has a negotiated rate with the hotel and I stayed here two nights. Everything was fine, the Aveda amenities are a great perk, the WiFi was solid, and I overall have no complaints. The room was very spacious, and the fitness center down the hall was adequate and clean. The continental breakfast is very basic (cereal, toast, yogurt,... More

Very comfortable, clean, reasonably priced hotel with good facilities. Two of us shared a very large, well decorated room with two (very comfortable) queen sized beds. Hotel is ideally positioned to explore Manhattan. It is also midway down a street so avoids the incessant horn honking heard on the Avenues!

This hotel is the epitome of what you should look for. Great service, amazing breakfast choices to appeal to varying diversities in tastes, and rooms that will blow your mind with artsy decorations and super comfortable furniture. The hotel rooms are much to my surprise, large enough to accommodate for the suggested occupancy size. I have found that because of... More

This visit is indeed my second to the San Carlos. Their staff is congenial and consistently eager to help. The room created both a clean and peaceful atmosphere amidst the buzz of NYC. I have stayed on both the 3rd and 11th floors now and as the floor number increases the view becomes prettier and the nighttime noise diminishes as... More

In summary, I've stayed here a few times for work and would return - not just because it is my company's preferred hotel, but because staff are genuinely helpful, the rooms are mostly decent-sized and the free breakfast, free WiFi and midtown location are reliably decent (yes, I grant you, a hotel's location -of all the adjectives it might not... Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
