The San Carlos Hotel in New York was full of friendly staff all willing to help you get what you want and where you would like to go. A very good location , just a few blocks from Times Square and my favourite steak House Ruth Chris. We were up graded to a suite which had masses of room. A... More

Our family of four recently stayed at the San Carlos for a short pre-Christmas vacation. We reserved a Queen suite, which was a two room suite with a queen bed in the bedroom, and a pull-out sleeper sofa in the living room. We also requested an additional roll-a-way bed, which was comfortable, and was provided at no extra charge. The... More

Huge, clean rooms! Location is good, not great since it is about .4 miles from Rockefeller Center and a little less than a mile from Times Square. With the crowds, getting to those locations can be overwhelming. For the price and quality of the hotel, though, the distance is worth it. Does have a continental breakfast (didn't go to) but... Since I selected this hotel based on reviews, I wanted to be sure and write one! The San Carlos Hotel far exceeded our expectations in many ways! The rooms are very nicely appointed and quite large by New York standards. The beds were super comfortable as were the pillows. Not only did our room have a mini bar, it had... More

Stayed at this hotel for five nights (11 - 15th December 2014) and was very pleased with the experience. The hotel was ideally situated, close to most attractions. Our room was particularly large which is unusual by New York standards, with a very comfy bed. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The hotel provided a continental breakfast, which was very... More

Met our daughter and her family for a few nights in NYC. Great location, exceptionally helpful staff so a good time was had. The staff recommended nearby restaurants for the family that turned out to be an excellent choice. Would return on another NY trip for business or pleasure.

Lovely rooms close to all the midtown attractions. We had a quiet room on 8th floor at back of hotel. 10 min walk to Saks, Rockefeller Plaza and 5th Ave. Breakfast is a continental affair but nice quality. Highly recommended.

My family of 5 always has a tough time finding a room, especially in NYC. The San Carlos had a large 2 room suite that was terrific...comfortable beds that were welcomed after walking all day long. The price was very reasonable; great location in walking distance to many top sites in the city. Will definitely stay there again.

A good compromise of quality, location and price. Large comfortable rooms, good customer service & continental (ie nothing cooked) buffet breakfast included. Its not the most modern of properties in terms of decor or faclities, but the advantages outweigh that.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
