Excellent lobby and room, central facilities (exercise room, business center) centrally located in Manhattan midtown east, just five blocks from Grand Central and ten from Central Park, fair price. Continental breakfast is complimentary, but facility too small in peak time and selection could improve.

We are native NYers now living elsewhere but we visit often. Usually stay downtown but also enjoy a more uptown location too. The San Carlos was fantastic. This is one of those reviews where you hesitate to recommend a place for fear that everyone else will go there and swamp it. But it really was great. Quiet street. The room... More

Great boutique hotel that is close to everything. Very friendly staff. The Lobby is always bustling with excitement. The Mint Lounge is a great place to grab a quick cocktail or dinner. I will return on my next trip to nyc.

I stayed in San Carlos Hotel for four days during July 2015 and it was great. First of all, the location of SC is amazing, few minutes from every important point in NY. Second, the people and service are really good.

What a pleasant surprise! I booked a junior suite for a work related conference but extended my stay for a total of 5 nights. I also had my mother and mother in law along on the trip ( yes they get along!😊) which is why I got the suite. The staff was amazing, the room was large for NY and... More

We have been visiting the hotel twice. Great location, great service :) Spacious room, very clean. Our flight got cancelled just hours before our departure - the hotel was able to extend our stay for one night. One hour after the reservation was made, our airline reopened the flight. San Carlos was able to cancel our extra reservation without any... More

This is my 7th consecutive years staying at the San Carlos. That should say enough but I'm compelled to write more. I'm a hotel junkie - whenever I have a trip (often) I scour tirpadvisor, read the most recent review on the top 10% hotels and narrow it down from there. I think I'm pretty picky. Location, cleanliness, ammenities, room... More

This was my third time at the San Carlos and each time it has been delightful! I would highly recommend this hotel to others because we were able to walk everywhere- the theatre district, Bryant Park, Central Park and more. Great shopping and restaurants close by and proximate to Grand Central Station and lots of subways. I will definitely stay... More

This hotel truly is a hidden gem. One bedroom suite very comfortable with plenty of room to relax at end of day, with chilled bottle of wine in room fridge! Staff are exceptionally helpful, nothing is a problem. The complimentary breakfast is a real bonus for NY, more than adequate to see you through the first part of your day... More

The location which is walking distance to the vibrant key areas of all mid-towm NY + the subway right next block that will take you in mns... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
