Staff service was EXEMPLARY. My luggage was delayed and subsequently delivered to the wrong hotel. Roger Smith staff were fantastic in locating it and I cannot thank them enough, otherwise my trip would have been ruined! My brother and I stayed for 3 nights in a one bedroom suite on the corner of the building (602). This comprised a bedroom... More

Wonderful warm place with lots of art and some big rooms. Great location, especially for the theatre district, but not too noisy. I always stay there when I am in New York City. Lilly's bar is fun, but not open late enough. Downsides: No coffee in the lobby in the morning. Coffee in rooms does not compensate. Plumbing and electrical... More

My wife and I always stay at the Roger Smith when in the city. As other recent reviewers observe, the rooms are clean and comfortable and "a little like staying in Grandma's extra bedroom," with Grandma's extra bathroom included. The front desk is very friendly, and an unlimited supply of delicious yogurt and granola from Vermont is free. In addition,... More

Was so delighted by the Roger Smith hotel and it has everything you could ask for: convenient location (subway is nearby and uptown and downtown are both close), reasonable prices, extremely comfortable beds (not too hard and not too soft and lots of pillows), convenient breakfast of yogurt, granola, fruit, coffee and tea, and impeccable service at the front desk... It's a fantastic deal. Clean, incredibly spacious for the price, free wifi and a great location. Unbeatable care valet parking prices too. While the rooms do have a somewhat dated appearance they are clean and functional. This is an incredibly small compromise for everything else you're getting. And it's incredibly dog friendly too.

This hotel is in an excellent midtown/east location. The subway is close and you are within walking distance to 5th Ave shopping, etc. Everything was clean and the front desk very friendly. The rooms are little like staying in Grandma's extra bedroom, as the furniture is solid, older furniture (think Grandma's dresser.) There was a live plant in the room,... More

I have stayed several times and have always been pleased. It's convenient to many things. Only minor drawback is that it is a 12-15 minute walk to Times Square so if you are just doing a theater trip, you will get your exercise in. It's not a new property, of course, but the rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, the... More

I stayed at the Roger Smith with a girlfriend mid week in Feb 2015. The price for a Junior Double Suite was unbeatable. We were delighted to find a very spacious corner suite with 2 double beds, a couch, arm chair and desk. Breakfast of yogurt, granola and fresh fruit is available at no charge in the lobby each day.... More

The room was dated but clean, Bed was very nice. We had a problem with our heater and called at 12:30 am, and an employee came to the room within 5 minutes, offering suggestions. We had excellent service from the staff, and plan to stay there again

The hotel rooms were dated, but frankly we were looking for a good, clean room with two comfy beds. We still had room to walk and for suitcases. Very reasonably priced. Nice staff. We'd come back again and again. Maids seem to be on a weird clock and not know when you are in or out. Put the do not... More

    Staying in Midtown

    Neighborhood Profile
    Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
