We love this hotel for its character, its convenient location (e.g., walking distance from Grand Central -- a nice feature when you're coming in on the bus from the Newark airport), the ample room size, the (relative) quiet, and the free WiFi in the room! We had a bit of trouble getting a comfortable temperature during this stay, as the... More

I have stayed in this hotel 3-4 times over the years - and keep on returning. The hotel provides a nice alternative to impersonal chain hotels: the rooms are cosy and homy. The service is excellent, as is the location of hotel: it is easy to reach anywhere in Manhattan from this locality. The hotel does not have gym, but... More

Nice, old fashioned place, the free yoghurt is a must to try. The room was clean and well-equipped, I didn't have problems with the noise from the streets at all (ok, 14th floor).Unfortunately, the roof-top bar wasn't available during my stay.

As usual, the Roger Smith delivered a spacious room, lovely atmosphere, and charming people. Love to stay here and recommend it to all. It isn't fancy, sort of old fashioned, but a great place to stay.

We had to use a night on Hotel.com to keep our free nights up to date and this place was very quaint. You step into the room and it feels like you're stepping back in time, especially in the bathroom. Close to Grand Central and serves a light continental breakfast of granola, yogurt and fruit. Wished the bed was a... More

The room is not so big, but you are in Manhattan. The hotel is located near various spots, but in a place where you do not feel you are surrounded by a lot of people. My room was in the 15th floor, with a small closet (where you can leave luggage, shoes and clothes) that allows to keep it organized... More

This place is horrible. I am here right now and cannot believe I passed up going to the W for this place ! It cost $207 for one night. My room was dirty and the bathroom was so nasty that I had to have the maid reclean the room. Even the maids said it was nasty! This place is horrible.... More

I stayed here for a week, and I was upgraded to a suite on the top floor facing the back of the building. So, I am assuming that this review has been written based on one of the nicest rooms in the hotel. Let's start with the furniture. All that is old, all of it is outdated, and most of... More

I reviewed this place a few years ago, and have stayed there multiple times since. In fact, it's still my "go to" place, and I just spent a few nights there. I really wish they had their own "awards" program of some sort! Usually, I stay in a 1 bedroom room suite but this time I stayed in a Jr.... More
