I've stayed several times at the Roger Smith and will continue to stay here when I visit New York in the future. It is a quaint, comfortable, and clean hotel, with rooms that are a reasonable size (not the tiny crowded rooms of many Manhattan hotels). And it is in a perfect location. The decor is classic old New York,... More

Four day trip to New York based here. It was ideal, in walking distance of so many iconic places to visit. Not an enormous anonymous international hotel, it is a small and quirky spot to stay. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable giving suggestions generously. Coffee in your room and Help yourself to yogurt and granola in the lobby for... More

I liked the hotel very much. The staff were pleasant and efficient at correcting mistakes with my room key, and I quite liked the style/state of the decoration.. excellent & varied carpet patterns, etc. The bed was extremely comfortable. I wasn't bothered too much by the street noise (despite facing Lex), but possibly because there was an astonishingly loud snorer... More

it is a good option to stay in Roger if you would like to roam a lot and see the city. The staff is good and cordial. they should provide breakfast option as it becomes uncomfortable to hunt for it. but Ashley's just infront of the hotel is a very good option for hot and continental breakfast that too at... I have just spent a glorious stay at the Roger Smith Hotel in Manhattan. The experience fit in beautifully with Bibliography Week, a time each January when related national book-history organizations come together to celebrate the book. This is a smaller, older hotel where rooms are large, comfortable, and best of all, the windows open! The location is superb, on... More

Staff were professional and nice, location was very and the room was quite large in comparison to many other rooms in NYC hotels. It doesn't have the "brand new" feeling but it's confortable and cozy. Price was very reasonable. I would go back. Yes, there is outside noise. I don't get why people go to NYC and complain about "noisy... More

Keeping an eye out for the delivery of the complimentary incredibly delicious Vermont Greek yogurt and granola was the highlight of my day. Miss it! Decent enough hotel overall. My full bed and room actually bigger than appeared in the picture. BUT....The housekeeping employee on my floor (10th) was very sour and unfriendly the 2 or 3 times I asked... More

There were three adults staying in a room with double beds. We were wowed with how spacious the room was compared to others I've stayed in NYC. The bathroom was a little small compared to the rest of the room, but it was sufficient for the three of us to share. As other reviewers have noted, the noise level was... More

The location of this hotel is great. The room was not what the show in the pictures. The staff were not as friendly as I expected for the price. What is offered for free was not maintained all the time. The cleaning service was excellent. Every time we came back everything was cleaned and organized. We had a great view.... More

We came to NYC to visit the Grolier Center to see the 100 Best Children's Books Display. We booked the premium suite for the 3 of us - 2 bedrooms. Room was amazing - bigger than my son and his wife's apartment in Williamsburg (Brooklyn) entry hallway, 3 closets, spacious living room / dining area with large dining table and... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
