You can't beat the price or the location. Chelsea is a great neighborhood and it's right near the subway. I've stayed here before with my family in the suites but this was the first time here by myself in a single room. The room was nice and clean. I took a room that had no toilet and I had to... More

We could not have been more satisfied with the Chelsea Lodge. We got the suite in a separate building and it has its charm. Yes, the kitchen was old but functional, the shower was not perfect, and probably the worst was the hard mattress, but...for the money, we could not have found more value and charm in tres expensive NYC.... I toured this hotel as part of a search for a visitor coming to New York who wanted to stay in Chelsea. The outside door was locked when I arrived and I had to ring to be admitted. The interior of the hotel is dark and dingy. The rooms above the ground floor are walk-up and the stairs are very... More

I've never found as good a balance of low rates, clean rooms, great location, and quiet setting as what's on offer at Chelsea Lodge --- despite a LOT of looking. As a NYC native (and New England transplant), I'm happy the search is over.

I had a wonderful stay at the Chelsea Lodge with my husband and infant son. We were greeted by friendly staff at check-in and were able to store our luggage while we explored the neighbourhood. They were also able to recommend a delicious family-friendly restaurant close by. We stayed in a spacious basement suite and were very comfortable. The hotel... More

I have stayed at the Chelsea Lodge three times now and always been pleased with the quality of the rooms and the service. Quiet and comfortable and great value for money. The staff know the area: the heart of Chelsea, close to the High Line, dance at the Joyce Theater, the subway, and a variety of restaurants. I have recommended... More

We wanted to stay in Chelsea near my nephew and I researched places and this is an example of how the internet can be misleading. This place has no sign, no facilities, no maid service - I would be tempted to call it an overpriced dump but that is a bit harsh. Worst thing was that we couldn't control the... More

We stayed in the garden apartment for six days and were very comfortable. We were amazed at how quiet the room was. We heard no street noise. There was some noise from radiators, but this is inherent in older buildings and quite frankly the occasional hiss and pop of an old radiator is part of the charm of staying in... More

The Chelsea Lodge was recommended by my daughter who lives close by in Chelsea. An unusual brownstone town house converted to an Hotel. It has a garden which was extraordinary with garden suites. As a lone female not happy about garden entrances so plumped for a first floor rear single. Small but adequate with a shower cubicle . Strange thing... More

This is our second time here. Two years ago, the previous room rates made the spartan rooms with toilet down the hall acceptable. Now that the rates have increased, there are better deals available. They have priced themselves out of their previous best market. Besides, they are not that friendly. Finally, there is one long term resident who obviously goes... More

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Chelsea Lodge. Its disappointing to hear that your second visit w/ us did not measure up to the first. We try to keep rates reasonable. In September our rates are higher than in some of the other months. Throughout the year we provide one of the least expensive rates... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
