I stayed at The Dream two weeks ago (mid October 2005) and it was dreadful - none of the gadgets worked in the room [although they advertise "the latest in technological delights"] , room service was a nasty adventure in food poisoning and to top it off -> often sewage would come out of the taps when I turned them... I am a Boston area travel agent --- and made the mistake of booking for separate clients into the poor excuse of a hotel..... dirty rooms, poor service, bard closed most of the time, etc --- worth about a 1/2 star on the hotel booking system.... you can be sure I will spread the word about they way this place... Just got back from one night at the Dream and I too was skeptical of staying there after reading the reviews. Our stay was very enjoybale, no complaints! Yes, the rooms are small but that is true in general in New York city. The room was clean, the staff pleasant, the decor very chic and the beds comfy!

After reading many of the reviews I worried about staying at The Dream. I had friends coming in from out of town and I needed a good midtown location but did not want to stay at a typical chain hotel, I wanted to stay at a trendy "New York" hotel. I had reservations about The Dream being too small, to... More

Absolutely horrible!!! I rated this hotel a one on a scale of five, but that's only because there was no rating of zero option!!! My girlfriend and I stayed at the Dream Hotel for two days this past weekend. First I'll start with some of the very few positives. The bed was extremely comfortable and the turndown service was excellent.... More

Hip and trippy lobby leads to rooms smaller than an inside cabin on the lowest deck of any cheap cruise line. I've seen small, crampped rooms in NY, but this beats them all. No closet space, no room for even a chair, a glass "bench" for a desk, a bathroom so small you have to reach across the room for... More

Over the last three years involving about 10 trips to New York City, I have stayed at a different hotel each time, from the large well known chains to smaller "boutique type" hotels. I would categorize this hotel as "trendy" along the lines of a "W". This is a hotel in a great location with people who are trying hard... More

I was in NYC for software training in which the training facility mentioned three hotels that offered discounts to students...Dream being one of them, I decided to give it a try because it seem to offer something a little more "different" than most hotels in NYC. I must admit that although I checked with TripAdvisor first and saw the bad... More

After reading some terrible reviews of this hotel (blood on the sheets?!), my boyfriend and I decided not to stay there. We called and cancelled our reservation well before the cutoff period (which is 24 hours in advance) but were charged anyway! We called to tell the hotel staff of their mistake and was told that while they are sorry... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
