We spent 5 nights at A Garden in Chelsea in July. There were 4 of us on a girls trip so we rented both the studio apartment with the beautiful garden & the very roomy one bedroom apartment. Both places were very spacious & beautifully updated. They were both very comfortable with air conditioning, ceiling fans, large screen TV's &... More

We spent 5 nights in the very spacious, comfortable and well-equipped 2nd floor apartment. The location is fantastic, with many wonderful restaurants, cafes and bakeries close by and, of course, the amazing Chelsea Market. The High Line is a short walk away, and trips to other parts of Manhattan are undertaken with ease. The neighbourhood is great, and the welcome... More

Wow, did I mention Wow. Chelsea was the perfect place for our two week visit. The apartment has a story and history to share with guests. It felt like home. Located on a quiet street in a residential area just walking minutes from everything. Wonderful view of the park like gardens from our bedroom. The best part of this experience... More

We spent a lovely few days here, thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The location is perfect, and a great welcome from Karen. The area has great restaurants and bars, and you're a short walk from the subway. Want to be there right now!

Stayed one week here as a family on the 2 nd floor apartment. Spacious for our family of four. Private room for the adults and the kids used the pull out coach that was very comfortable. Good kitchen for food preparation. Close to the Highline,Chelsea market and a easy walk to Time square.

Just back from spending two weeks in New York and really loved our accommodation at 'A Garden in Chelsea'. For a first time NYC visitor this was the perfect place, located in a delightful neighbourhood - close to a fabulous range of eateries from up-market to inexpensive, handy to the subway, strolling distance to the must-see Highline and Chelsea Market... We stayed here for 7 nights in January in one of the apartments upstairs. We absolutely loved the location. It is surrounded by fantastic restaurants and Chelsea Markets just down the road. You could actually spend a whole week eating in the neighbourhood and not have to leave once! The apartment was great. A good size for our family of... More

On a recent visit to NYC, we spent 4 nights at this nice spot. Unfortunately, the weather was not conducive for spending time in the lovely garden, but it was pleasant to open the blinds and look at the setting. The apartment we occupied is located below street level, typical of Manhattan brownstones. The space is clean, large and contains... More

I returned here 6 months later with my husband and it was a wonderful as when I visited in May. I cannot understand why anybody would prefer to stay in a hotel when you can experience a lovely neighbourhood like Chelsea and have the space and comfort this offers you. Karen was as helpful and charming as before. The restaurants... More

We stayed here in September 2014 and coudn't have hoped for a better experience. Ours was the upstairs 1-bed apartment. It was well equipped, clean, comfortable and secure; everything worked, and Karen and Paul are delightful hosts. The location was perfect: a classic brownstone in a quiet side street, yet a short stroll from the action, restaurants and (very handy)... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
