Our room was on the large side (for NYC) with a big window facing east, looking out at a children's playground. I really didn't feel like I was in NYC and it was especially nice not to hear the sound of traffic. The bathroom was large and very clean and bright, the bed was super comfortable. The staff was friendly... More

I'm from Denmark and stayed for a week at the Desmond Tutu. The room was not big, but had a big bed, big closet, desk and lounge chair. Not much room to move around or for luggage, but enough to not being a problem. Fantastic bed, clean sheets big pillows. Not enough outlets, had to take turns using the only... More

This location in Chelsea is close to the new Highline and Chelsea Market. The nearest subway is several blocks away which may be a deterrant for some visitors. Green products in the bath are a nice touch. My only issue was front desk staff offered to get me a taxi to airport but in reality this was a car service... More

The rooms were spacious and amenities were good (Plenty of bathroom space and coffee maker was awesome!). The service was great from check in to check out. The staff were one of the friendliest (stood in the rain and hailed taxi for me). Location-wise was great for my own business purpose, otherwise, it's quite out of the way from all... More

I suffer from allergy-induced asthma, so cleanliness is always my top concern staying at hotels. Though it was clear that the buildings of the Desmond Tutu were old, I decided to take a chance based on the positive online reviews. Upon checking in and inspecting my room, I was immediately surprised by: 1) how dusty the room was; dust was... More

We stayed 2 nights at the DTC and it was really nice. A great alternative to similarly priced hotels in touristy mid-town. We liked being further west, next to the Highline... and very convenient to downtown/mid-town. Plus, we had just come from one of those mid-town gems, and really appreciated the non-seedy quality of this hotel. The rooms are small... More

I stayed at the Desmond Tutu Conference a few years ago and rate it a hearty TWO THUMBS way up! It is a hidden gem in the urban jungle called Manhattan. The quality of the staff and rooms are unbeatable. I was able to go to the men's finals of the US Open that year due in part the encouragement... More

This hotel has a superb location for visiting the highline park and the West Village. The rooms are large and each one has a unique layout. The Episcopal Seminary complex includes a beautiful chapel and park like grounds. Truly a unique spot removed from the chaos of new york city. More

Stayed recently at this hotel and must confess it was a very good surprise. Clean, very quiet room, all the basics, good coffeemaker - it was a little difficult to locate an outlet to use it! Had to use the one on the bedside table lamp. Our room had a view to the courtyard, huge plus for me, wonderfully quiet.... More
