We stayed here in May 2009 for a week. Despite other reviews on this site saying it is closed to general public, we didn't have any trouble making a booking at US$149 per night plus taxes. The hotel is really nice, very new and clean. The garden was closed most of our stay due to exams taking place which was... more

I just called them to make a booking and they said the hotel is no longer open to the general public! Only associated parties/members can stay there. more

This is a business; nothing to do with Christianity; they act like they are the swankiest Donald Trump hotel during the 1980's glitz years. more

We booked this hotel because of its location in Chelsea. I've stayed in Manhattan hotels numerous times and most of the time, they are tiny. But these rooms were bigger than what I've experienced. Very clean, posh hotel with flat-screen TV's. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We didn't experience the free continental breakfast as we slept in every morning.... more

We have just returned from a vacation week at the Desmond Tutu Center in New York, set in Chelsea neighborhood. The room was cosy and spacious. The complimentary breakfast served inside a wonderful historical refectory. The staff friendly and willing to support us in our daily needs. Chelsea is a little bit out of the action, but with the buses... more

What a lovely place to stay in the hectic city! We enjoyed our room, though the hallways are pretty narrow. The recently renovated rooms are sparkling clean and you have everything you need at your fingertips. The real winner was the breakfast each morning at the refectory. Lovely stained glass windows, wood panelling and all sorts of selections left nothing to be desired.Cereals, breads, yogurt as... more

We had a magnificent stay at the Desmond TuTu October 10-14/08. Our room was perfect - on the fourth floor in the corner. Room was large – the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in with really nice linens. A duvet & cover (white) in place of a bed spread which I really like as you can be... more

What a great hotel! The rooms are huge, clean, new, and very comfortable. We got a 2 queen bed room on the first floor facing the courtyard of the property just by asking upon check in! It was more than I ever expected! 10' ceilings, sitting area, all new modern furniture, the beds are very comfortable, 32" flat sceen LCD... more

Great location in a beautiful leafy neighbourhood not far from bars restaurants (go to Moran's round the corner) shops etc.# Rooms were very spacious and well equipped, breakfast was fantastic and staff were very helpful. Book with confidence, this is a great find. more
