Having lived in New York a couple of years ago, I was aghast to return recently and see the nondescript steel and glass buildings which are being erected in the downtown area. Thankfully, the Bowery Hotel, which was built less than two years ago, blends into the east village seamlessly and is true to the style and character of the... More

The Bowery Hotel is incredible. Personable, friendly staff who went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. Our room had a gorgeous view of downtown and featured the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. A ceiling fan helped keep the room's temperature controlled and comfortable. Our bathroom featured a shower with rainfall shower head. The... More

Had the best of times at the Bowery Hotel. Staff were very friendly, professional & extremily helpful. Room was fantastic with a super comfortable bed & beautiful floor to ceiling windows - only sideback was it lacked a few drawers to keep one week's clothing (2 people). Apple laptops with internet free of charge. Ipod docking station in room. The... More

My husband and I spent three days at The Bowery Hotel in NYC. Upon arrival and over the course of our stay, we were treated - at best - in a relatively cold, dismissive fashion. We, very consistently, felt as though extremely inappropriate and highly preferential treatment was given to the more high-profile guests of the hotel whilst we, as... More

The Bowery is a beautiful hotel within walking distance to all of New York's great shopping and neighborhoods. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable w/ great views. Some of the room doors are however notoriously difficult to open and you might spend 5-10 mins outside your room trying to get in. Luckily, helpful staff isn't far away to give a... More

Stayed 5 nights in a King room with double aspect windows in bedroom and full window behind bath. Fantastic place. Complimentary bottle of wine on arrival which is a nice touch. Very happy just to stay in the room one night when too tired to go out for another meal. Great interiors and detailing. Wonderfully comfortable bed. Had a great... More

I will never go back to The Bowery Hotel,. They ruined what should have been a lovely weekend break for my 40th. We only had 3 nights there. All was going well. Nice decor etc (but nothing too special). One our second night I was woken by the night manager phoning the room at 3am. 3AM! He said the security... More

We had a fantastic 5 nights at the Bowery. A beautiful hotel in a very cool location, excellent for all the independent boho shops and boutiques in nolita and the surrounding area. What really sets the hotel apart are the staff who were all incredibly helpful. We stayed in a King Deluxe room which had a fantastic bath & massive... More

Two of us stayed at the hotel for nearly a week. From check in to departure, it was a great experience. The hotel is extremely well run and manages to obtain a boutique feeling despite its size of 140 rooms. Unlike other boutique hotels I have stayed in in NY all of the staff - and I mean all -... Great stay - even with young children. They made up a fabulous bed in our suite for the kids which they loved. The roomy lobby bar meant adults could enjoy a drink while the children played in the garden area. We all loved the ambience, the courteous and consistently attentive staff and brilliant location. We enjoyed star-spotting too...and felt special... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
