4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I ate at the restaurant, but did not stay at the hotel, but this seems the only place to review it. The restaurant is large (I guess about 100), but is very busy. The bat also seems to be a very popular meeting place with a vibe. The food was excellent, and not expensive and I highly recommend it .

I just spent 4 nights at the Bowery Hotel in NYC. The occasion was my son's wedding. The hotel itself is charming, the staff friendly and helpful and the bed/bedding very comfortable. The AC is very quiet plus there are ceiling fans. That is a first for me....I love having moving air!! My son said the staff was very easy... More

We just enjoyed a fabulous three day stay at the Bowery. The service at the hotel was first class, and even though I am hardly a hipster (in the City for my son's college graduation with my husband and mother), I felt perfectly at home at the Bowery, as did my 88 year old mother who was delighted with the... We loved this hotel, my daughter and I, and will go back next time in New York. We chose it carefully and were delighted that the choice was so good. After much walking every day we knew we would get new strength just by entering our room, where everything was prepared for our well-being and relaxation, coffee-machine, big bath-room, good... Stayed here about 2 years ago, loved it but didn't write the review. Came back to NYC and decided to try another boutique hotel in NYC. HUGE mistake. After one night, I called the Bowery Hotel, begged for forgiveness and asked to move there for the remainder of our trip. Although it was a last minute request, they accommodated me... More

We usually stay in the upper east side. This was a departure for us. Loved loved the location. Check in was nice, room not ready so we bummed around and they called. Booked 90 days in advance, king size room. Still got low floor,4, and no bath tub. Had drinks in the bar both nights. We were grilled about being... More

Dear Sheila K, Thank you for your review. I am very sorry to hear about the service in the bar area and the long wait time for coffee in room service. Both of these occurrences are unacceptable and will be thoroughly addressed. I also apologize if you felt grilled by the lobby maitre d’. The lobby is very popular with... More

I will start by saying the Bowery Hotel is a lovely space, great vibe, the people seemed very cordial and hospitable, that is until they realize you are not a hotel guest. Hmmm. As a NY'r for over 20 years and now visiting my home city, I was aghast by the response when we tried to sit in the empty... More

Dear kMoFinds, I am very sorry to hear you felt unwelcome in the lobby area and we very much appreciate your patronage. It is true we prioritize seating for hotel guests though. We would love to be able to seat all non-hotel guests in our lobby, but unfortunately, if we did, we would have very little space for our hotel... More

A much more accessible 'trendy' hotel. Pretty low key place with not a lot of wide open spaces: small, discrete lobby check-in, a secluded lounge and a great restaurant on the ground floor. Surprisingly reasonable in room dining options for the area and swankiness of the hotel. Great views of lower manhattan that will differ from anything you've seen if... More

We chose the Bowery hoping it would make our wedding weekend perfect, but it was everything but. There was no hot water in our room for most of the day so we couldn't shower for our wedding and the front desk was extremely rude about it. We got locked out of our room, the toilet wouldn't stop flushing, and there was... More

The Bowery is a top tier hotel with great views from all rooms (although it can be pretty noisy with sirens coming up from the street 24/7 but you are in NYC after all.) If you have a north facing room, you have a clear view of the Empire State Building. Rooms and bathrooms are bright and spacious, but be... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
