Great location with some fantastic bars and eateries close by. Loved the quirky design of the rooms, understatedly hip. Staff were genuine and helpful. Gemma restaurant was great for breakfast and lunch too (didn't try dinner there) and the bar was great fun for night caps.

Character sums up this hotel! From the quirky lobby to ambient bar we had such a blast staying here. The location is great for SoHo shopping and restaurants nearby (next door is yum). The rooms are small but bursting with character and charm - so comfortable and chic. We had an absolute ball staying here. From the Bowery teddy bear... More

having always stayed uptown I joined my daughter on a business trip at her favorite hotel I was pleasantly surprised at the level of service and care that was shown to us during our stay The location turned out to be perfect for the new restaurants that have opened up close by as well as great shopping The lobby is... This well-appointed, charming hotel with a history embodies New York verve, style, energy, and playfulness. The vibe is friendly, happening, and young, though definitely comfortable for those of us who are only young at heart. Incredibly helpful and attuned service( repaired my husband's broken wheelchair on the spot), a clubby environment with a better than average restaurant, lovely rooms ,... More

Well we really were torn between staying here or somewhere else...That is the tug of war between cool hip spot vs great night sleep and comforts. If we were to be here for 1 night it would be great but the minute you have a suitcase or any clothing you want to hang forget it. The room was super tiny... More

This is my second stay at The Bowery Hotel and both have been great. The hotel has a trendy vibe, but isn't overly modern or 'designery'. This stay we had originally booked a Queen room, but when we saw the room it was a little smaller than we wanted and didn't have the best view. We called down to the... More

I always try and stay in the bowery hotel as it has amazing service and great rooms. The restaurant Gemma is always good for easy healthy italien dishes and great people watching. I always have a Rock moment here , met robert plant in the elevator and jon Mayer in the bar . Chic, easy and a great location. The... More

There aren't enough words to express just how thoughtful and polite the service is. Everyone from the bell hops to the front desk and housekeeping staff was friendly and courteous. Every detail of the services is well thought out and make you feel at home. They often say the devil is in the details. In the case of the Bowery... More

Check-in for this hotel is 3pm. Having arrived to town at 12pm we dropped our bags and went for a walk (the location is good, just near soho and LES) When we returned at 4:15pm the room was still not ready. We had to wait another 30 minutes before getting into our room (having plans to meet friends at 6pm... More

This is one of these hotels that goes on the trendy side, but that is not really good on service. The rooms are quite nice and well appointed, with a good size for NYC. Bathrooms are also big, but the sink a very small and not very handy with no storage space. However, rooms tend to be noisy so a... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
