This place is dire. On first glance it didn't look too bad, main reception was quiet and there was a helpful guy on the desk. We checked in and hauled ourselves up the lift and through the corridors. I have read on other reviews that the hallways have shopping trolleys in them. we saw one full of linen so it... more

Cant really ask any more from a hostel. One block away from the subway - great location. And overall excellent value for money. My partner and I stayed for a long weekend, booked a private double and shared a bathroom with 3 other rooms. Wasn't bothered by any of the other guests and staff on reception were helpful. The tv... more

I booked the trip at the last minute and it was one of the few choices I had. The room was really small and my girl friend and I saw cockroaches on the shelves. The location is good, near Central Park, but don't go there if you plan to relax in your room. It can be an ok choice if... more

First thing to note is that hotels in NY are expensive, which is the only reason why I considered this hotel. It wasn't exactly cheap at about 45GBP per night and certainly not worth the money. The hotel itself is fairly shabby and needs updating. The corridors were piled up with rubbish and felt dirty. The hotel boasts free wireless,... more

My husband & I stayed here as part of our USA honeymoon. On arrival we found out I had accidentally booked us a share room - oops! The guy working there offered to put us in a private room with our own bathroom, we were wrapped. Our room was not in the main building, we had to go next door.... more

What did you people expect? 4 star accomodations? For $54 a night I got way more then I paid for. I never saw a bug anywhere. Yes, it is an old building but I think that adds character. My room was clean, quiet,, the matress and linens appeared to be brand new, and the air conditioner worked well. The shared... more

Unfriendly staff at arrival. The corridors in the hotel smelled like garbage. The room was small, hardly ventilated and dusty. The bed was dirty, stained sheets and a yellowed, old blanket. Airco worked, that was a plus. Shared bathroom was ok. Price was ok. Location is good, subway station is close. more

My sister and I had planned to stay here for 5 nights. We had originally booked the Candy Hostel (a private room), and when we went to check in, we were told that they were overbooked and then they sent us over to the Widget Hostel. Upon entering, we first noticed how it was not at all how it had... more

I'm very glad to say that this hostels' staff is very proffessional. As I was in a kind of emergency situation for a while during my stay at the hostel, I got very good support by especially two staff members; Kia and Kiki. Thank you once again for helping me! Without your help, things would have been very difficult for... more
