Hotel Mela was above our expectations. It was so well situated close to Time Square and Theatre Land and also the tourist bus and metro facilities were close by. The staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. Even the Bedroom attendant was cheerful and very helpful. We will definitely recommend the Hotel... More

We visited New York as part of a two centre holiday through Virgin Holidays. We were travelling as two couples for a special birthday holiday. Virgin had informed the hotel of this and asked that we have two nicer room with views. We were greeted with a "happy birthday" by the receptionist which was a nice gesture. We were then... More

We booked this at a discount a couple of month in advance for a birthday "staycation" and weren't sure what to expect. We mentioned the birthday at check-in and the very nice person who registered us comped us breakfast for the next morning. Breakfast was in a delightful bistro next door-- a full cooked breakfast with lots of choices. Our... More

City centre hotel just off the main drag of Times Square. Small rooms with very small lobby space. Quick checkin, staff eficient not overly welcoming. For a 1 week stay the room was cramped with only one chair therefore second person had to sit on the bed. Tea and coffee making facilities consisted of 1 tea bag per day each... More

Best part of this hotel is the staff's attention to detail and their desire to make your stay the best it can be. They provide luggage storage when you are a guest that arrives early and will hold it after you you check out and still want to see the sites without dragging it around with you. The room was... Based upon the reviews here and my particular needs, I made very specific reservations on the phone. Was assured that my requests would be noted and accommodated. However, when we arrived, none of my requests were noted and we could not receive the requested hotel room locations. To their credit, the hotel staff did upgrade my rooms as a result... More

Stayed here for NYE and is bang on Times Square so fantastic location. Rooms are fairly basic and quite small, but extensive array of TV channels, and was able to watch the English premier league football when we woke up in the morning. Despite being mega busy on NYE staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.

I really have nothing positive to say about this hotel other than the fact that it is close to times square. The location really is great. The downsides are the VERY small room we stayed in, the bad maintenance of the hotel (ripped sheets, missing curtain), very small elevators, and they charged my credit card for a minibar item even... I stayed at Hotel Mela with my daughter to take in some shows and visit colleges. Perfect location for a 'theater' trip - we were able to walk everywhere. We ate at Saju Bistro once and ordered room service - tasty and prompt. Everyone we encountered was friendly. Free WiFi was a nice bonus (some hotels charge a 'facility fee'... More

Just back from a 5 night stay at the hotel Mela . The rooms where clean and beds where made every day of our stay . The location was a 2 minute walk from times square and the subway . When we go back to New York this will be the hotel of choice for us.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
