The hotel is located very closed to Times Square with its advantages (close to 5th avenue, Broadway, restaurants, touristic stop buses, etc) and disadvantages (very crowded and noisy area). The hotel is clean, service is very good, there are breakfast facilities in the restaurant beside the hotel. The rooms are however incredibly small, actually only being able to accommodate a... Arrived on Sunday 26 July. Fantastic location. Staff very extremely helpful. They went over and beyond to answer any questions. Always met with a genuine smile. The room was spacious. The en suite was clean. Air conditioning worked. Considering we were in the heart of all the bussle, the room was quiet. I'd stay again .

First trip to NYC - This Hotel was a great choice. Just off of Time Square on a quiet street (relatively, for the city). The rooms were adequate size and well kept. For comparison, I am a typical chain hotel person (Double Tree, Hilton Garden, etc) and this hotel beats those in most every way. Was a perfect location for... More

Stayed on the 23rd of July. Great location for Time Sq. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room and bathroom were very clean. Very accommodating about keeping our bags as we had a night flight. We paid a very high price for a room we could hardly move in with two suitcases. Would look for better value next time.

The real plus for this hotel is the central location; close to Times Square, Fifth Avenue, Madison Avenue, Bryant Park, ... However, the room that we were staying in was very small and there was hardly any room to place our luggage. The bed was so narrow that we've actually didn't get a good sleep during our entire 6 days... More

Hotel Mela is a comfortable hotel a block from Times Square. A great choice for business travelers with meetings in the Bryant Park/Grand Central area, as well as tourists looking for a centrally-located "home base." There is access to basically all the subway lines and plenty of cabs nearby on 6th Ave. Wifi is free. The rooms are small but... More

Great stay at Hotel Mela. Best thing about this hotel is location. Less than a minute from Times Sq and around a 10min walk from Penn Station and Grand Central (less than 20mins from all major sights too: ESB, Central Park, 5th Ave). Location is almost too good as nearest subway is through busy Times Square, and taxis always in... More

I stayed here for a week and for the most part, I was very pleased. PROS: -Extremely helpful, friendly staff. They took good care of me. -You don't have to make a mile long trek to your room. Everything is easy access. -Great location. You're directly across the street from the Belasco Theatre. -Wonderful restaurants within a few steps. -Room... More

My husband and i go to NYC several times a year for theatre, museums and dining experiences. We usually stay at a Marriott or Starwood property, but i saw a deal on TravelZoon for $169/night rates for last weekend, so we decided to give the Hotel Mela a try. First of all, great location if your plans include any broadway... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
