This was a great hotel but the best thing by far was the location! We were literally round the corner from Times Square and in walking distance to most of the main tourist attractions - Rockefeller, Empire State Building and grand central terminal. The Hotel was good, if your looking for modern comfort it's perfect for you and let's face... More

The Hotel Mela is a cheap place in a great location. If you want a big bedroom and bathroom, this place is not for you. The bedroom have the normal size for being in New York City. Walking distance to Time Square. Good restaurants in the area. Excellent staff.

If you plan on going to a play on Broadway and want to stay nearby for a night or two, this is the place to stay. Half a block from Broadway on 44th Street makes this location as close as you can possibly get to the theaters. We saw a play on 43rd and one on 45th and got to... More

Very conveniently located 10 steps away from Times Square. Rooms are clean and on the small side, but who is going to spend all the time in the room when you are in the heart of Manhattan? :) Staff is extremely helpful and friendly and a restaurant next door that is associated with this hotel has a great food.

I'm not one of tourism, I prefer to experience what the locals enjoy, so this hotel was a little close to Times Square for me, but what it lacked in location for me was made up for 10 fold by the friendliness of the staff and small but great accommodations. Cleanliness: House keeping at this facility is top notch. One... More

This hotel requires you to provide a CC for incidentals, which is pretty standard. However, looking through my CC activity a week after my stay, I noticed a charge on my card associated with this hotel. After the fourth attempt calling and then finally asking to speak to a mgr, I got in touch with the "accounting" department, who said... More

We stayed at Mela this past weekend. Room was spotless, bed was made to perfection, bathroom was very clean. We had been working with the concierge, Mr. Palace for a few weeks leading up to our stay, his recommendations for restaurants and entertainment were spot on.... My husband and I will continue to stay at Hotel Mela whenever we are... More

Nice room 1409 overlooking the theatre and only 2 mins from Times Square. Staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of places for food nearby. The room had double Queen beds with coffee and decent sized bathroom (shower). All you require for a stay in the Big Apple.

Fab hotel, excellent customer service and very friendly staff. The food is great and the hotel itself is very clean. It's in the centre of time square where there is everything you need to enjoy yourself! Would highly recommend it.........

We love this place!! Can find a very reasonable discounted rate, special, or coupon. Hotel staff exceptional and willing to help with anything needed. This was our second time staying at Hotel Mela. Upgraded our room for our Anniversary. Simple. Clean. In the heart of it all! Right in Time Square. Walking distance from Penn Station. Close to all Broadway shows.... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
