A great location to sites, clean and friendly staff! Times square is a minute walk, good restaurants are close to the hotel. Transpirtation stations to all international airports is a 5 minute walk in bryant park.

The room was very tiny, but that's to be expected in NYC, and it's well-designed, so we were OK with it. The location, by the way, is perfect. Right across the street from several theaters (saw John Cameron Mitchell coming out of the Belasco where he starred in Hedwig and the Angry Itch), a block away from all the action... More

Stayed only one night at this friendly and welcoming hotel, and wish I could stay longer. The staff, including those at Saju Bistro next door for breakfast, were always friendly and went the extra mile. I was impressed at how the staff took the initiative to phone up to my friend's room, as she had checked in first, upon my... More

I had to travel to NYC for work, and had never been to Hotel Mela before. The hotel is clean, the staff extremely friendly and attentive, and the place has a nice charm to it. You walk outside, and are very nearby some sights, shopping, and fun. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting NYC, and I will most certainly... More

We stayed at the Mela during thanksgiving. The best thanksgiving I had; no cooking for me and watched the parade and had a great thanksgiving dinner at Ruth Chris steakhouse . Will definitely do it again. Mela staff very accommodating and delightful; the hotel partners with a little French restaurant right next door, Saju Bistro. Great breakfast and staff.

Awesome place to stay! Close to all the NY Hot Spots. Great Staff, especially Josianne (cute name) and Melinda they made us feel very welcomed. The room was beautiful and the bed was very comfy. The staff catered to our weekend needs and we enjoyed our stay. Thank you Hotel Mela you're a GEM!

Next to Times Square, not too noisy despite the fact that it's very crowded. Rooms have no view (to my knowledge) on Times Square so do not stay there if you want one! Small rooms but good for solo or business purposes.. good location with lots to do, subway access with easy commuting from any airport in the New york... More

We stayed in a superior room on the 9th floor, centre of the building, nice and quiet. Yes it was small but adequate as we were out early in the mornings and not returning until later in the evening. The room was cleaned to a high standard with fresh towels every day. We didn't use the mini bar as we... More

Frequent NYC visitor. Booked Hotel Mela due to deal on Travel zoo. First room spotless, modern, and nice décor. Spacious room, enough room for clothes storage. Staff excellent. Front desk staff always nice and talkative. All staff go the extra yard. Very quite, I was on 3rd floor and didn't hear noise from any of the other rooms or outdoors.... More

Booked last minute online because the rate was pretty attractive for a four star hotel in New York. When I got there, it was obvious just from the tiny coat check counter style "front desk" that the Mela was one of those "boutique" hotels that make traditional "boutique" hotels seem cavernous. The room was fine, pretty clean and relatively quiet... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
