I wouldn't stay again close to Time Square, but it's a great location for a first visit to NY. The hotel is nice and clean, rooms are not huge but you are comfortable, and in a city like NY you barely spend time in the hotel. When taking a shower the bathroom would be instantly flooded. This is something they... More

Yes I have stayed at the Plaza, Four Seasons, Pierre, St. Regis, Hotel W, Regent, Waldorf Astoria and others in New York over 25 years, but I have never stayed at a more over rated (four star) dump than Hotel Mela where the king bed had barely three feet of perimeter of space around it with no room size disclosure... Mela hotel is not a place you will remember and tell your kids all about. - GREAT location and for that reason alone should be considered - GOOD service: you can tell some of them care more than a regular corporate hotel would - OK rooms: make sure you ask for a high floor to start with. We had three... More

We stayed at this little hotel during our NYE trip to the Big Apple. We were very pleased. The hotel is very nice, clean, and not too big. It is 1 block off Times Square. I felt I got good value for what I spent. I did have a problem. But the hotel addressed and and made me very happy.... More

I just spent three nights at Hotel Mela and I was very pleased. The front desk staff was very helpful after a long red-eye flight from the west coast and the location was excellent for tourism. I'm glad we upgraded from the standard to the deluxe room. Some people complained about the room size but our room was great; it... More

Stayed here for 2 nights. Good location, near Time Square but not right in the middle of the craziness. Walking distance to theater district, restaurants, and shopping. Modern, upgraded quaint boutique hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms with all the amenities. Tiny elevators, but that's New York! Cordial staff, if you're looking for a place to crash while you take in... More

Rooms were small even by NY standards. Rooms were also dark and looked out onto a brick wall. Staff were ok. Elevators had a mind of their own and you got static shocks from the call buttons. We got a cheap deal for a few days prior to flying to DC for business, it was fine and the location was... More

We arrived on a red eye at 7:30am and they had a room available to allow us to check-in at that time and sleeeep before going out on the town. For that alone, they get big kudos!!! The concierge service was great and all the folks were so courteous. All worked well in the room. Clean and good temperature control. More

I stayed at the Hotel Mela for two nights last weekend. The hotel is older but has been completely remodeled. The staff was very friendly and the location is great. You are less than a block from Times Square. The only thing that I would say wasn't great was that our room had a window and, as can always be... More
