Sugar Hill is a gorgeous little apartment building in Harlem, it is rustic and oozing with charm, We stayed in the Satchmo room which was absolutely massive with a big comfy bed, a big bathroom with bath and shower and a door out onto the rooftop. The room was full of beautiful antique furniture and was warm and fully equipped... More

The room we stayed in (Lena) was beautiful with a very big and comfortable poster bed. The shower in the bathroom was cute as it was located up a few steps with nice red tiles. The house is charming, old-style, there's a jazzy feeling everywhere you look. About a 5 minute walk to the subway with a direct line to... More

This was our second stay at Sugar Hill Harlem inn, and it was just as amazing as the first stay. This time we stayed at the second location on 141st and Convent. The location was only 4 block way from the subway station and the neighborhood was very lively. I would definitely recommend anyone to use Sugar Hill Harlem in... More

Two days before my visit I call to confirm and to get directions. No answer, no answer on the cell phone I was directed to. So, I emailed. The response was, essentially, we are having work done on your room so we have arranged for you to stay someplace else. No details, no response to my questions (i.e., where is... More

I was in NY on Labor Day weekend of a friend's wedding and planned to stay in Harlem to visit with family. The owner/manager called me at approximately 9:30am when I was to arrive by 1pm to say that the toilet overflowed and I could no longer stay. So, I was stuck in NY with no place to stay on... More

The guy(Jeremy) who was the host is so serious, most of the time you feel is angry with you. Announce is only for bed, if you want the breakfast(very standard) you will hace to pay, also there is no wifi spot reachable(just in some places)

After reading the reviews of nightmare horror stories I didn't think it would happen to me so I went a head and booked a room for the next night not 10 minuets later it was cancelled with no explanation... Pour management and money hungry. Beware

Stayed in Josephine's room , with an awesome bed with the best comfort in town. :-) Nice breakfast at a very reasonable price. Nice guide to the city form the landlord. Many attractions and nice restaurants in walking distance. We will definitely return to this nice B&B.

Call first to check for the room Amenities coz sometimes the internet is misleading, the hotel doesn't offer free breakfast and you will pay extra charge if more than 2 adults per room, other than the money to manage your budget everything is good

We stayed in the Satchmo room. The bed was comfortable and there was a nice sized bathroom. The owner and staff were friendly and accommodating. We did not have any problems getting in the front door at night. We also enjoyed the history and architecture of the building. The location was only a couple blocks from the train, although walking... More

Staying in Harlem

Neighborhood Profile
Harlem
As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has played a vital role in the history of New York City. Today, the neighborhood is as vibrant as ever as new businesses and developments go up next to local institutions. The heart of the neighborhood is bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful blocks in the city, filled with handsome brownstones, soul food restaurants, corner shops, and scenic parks.
