We had a great experience with this hotel as a girls get-away. Had not spent much time in this section of town and it was great! We arrived early and left our luggage in the breakfast room. At first I was a little worried that the luggage was in the open and so unsecure, but we had no choice. When... More

Very Disappointing experience. Lets go with positive first-The desk staff was very nice, and the lobby was cute. Breakfast was borderline at best. Elevator small and slow, but not unexpected. "Holding our luggage" meant being forced to leave it unsupervised in a common public room, not even in view of the lobby. Not even a non-public access room, much less... More

Very spacious room for 4(2 adult children with parents.) perfect view from the 7th floor towards Williamsburg bridge. Our airco did not function well so they placed a mobile unit in the window untill it was fixed. Neighbourhood is perfect for going out or diner. Please eat at the meatballshop restaurant , close by. Also if you like dumpling ""... More

I had a room booked for Saturday night. I have a confirmation email receipt. I called to confirm the room (thank goodness I did) and they did not "have the reservation in the system". There was no availability. had I not called before I would have been OUT IN THE COLD (or heat for July). Excuse was management change. No... More

We stayed three nights in a second floor room (Milton Berle Room) right on Orchard Street. The room was plenty big with a good sized bathroom. There was very little street noise at night. The hotel staff was friendly, and we were told that our room was an upgrade when we checked in. There was no safe, but we had... More

Booked a room for one night with Blue Moon using Travelocity. I cancelled the booking on time because of a death in the family. Blue Moon did not issue a credit but instead charged my account for 2 nights over $500. Neither Travelocity nor Blue Moon has rectified the charges.

This hotel is "under new management" which is the excuse they gave me when they lost my reservation. They had already gave away the "luxury" type room we paid $500 for to someone else. They put us in some cheap room on the 2nd floor with a view of a tree and some disgusting alley. The room we paid for... More

Reserved a room through the Blue Moon website with credit card and received two email confirmations. When we arrived we were told that the there were no rooms available. Tough luck. We heard various excuses -- change of management, the booking agent did it, etc. Really surly attitude from the desk manager. No alternative room options. Terrible experience and service.... More

Sat in reception awaiting taxi back to airport. Where to begin? Had read the previous reviews and was slightly apprehensive before arriving. Louise checked us in and we were upgraded to the penthouse Al Johnson suite. Views over the bridge, enormous room with safe, mini bar, sofa etc etc. couldn't fault it. Scrupulously clean & cleaned each day. No sign... More

We stayed in the Blue Moon Hotel for a weekend in June with two adults and three kids and were very happy with the hotel, we found it charming and not like any other hotel we've been to. The room was clean and spacious and there was a balcony with a view over the rooftops and to the bridge (stayed... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
