This is a great hotel for the price. The location on 45th street between Fifth and Sixth ave. is excellent- near Times Square and Grand Central Terminal. It is a very safe area. The desk clerks were very pleasant and helpful. This is not a posh hotel- don't expect lots of pampering. The hotel is fairly new and the beds... More

We stayed in HIE for 8 nights in May 2008. We got a yellow cab from Newark airport and it cost us $65 which I thought was excessive compared to the prices quoted on the website. The hotel was quiet when we arrived and our room was ready early. It was small but we did expect it to be. We... More

I was in NYC for business and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Conveniently located, close to Grand Central and 42nd st stations and Fith Ave. Hotel staff was nice and accommodating. I had an urgent request to which they responded immediately. Rooms are a bit small even by NY standards but I was only there to sleep. Although the... More

We go to NYC once a year and have stayed in several different hotels. For the past few years, we've been returning to the Marriott Times Square--good location and we've always been very pleased with their rooms. They have always been very clean and roomy and the bathrooms pass my test. However, this year, the rates have gone through the... More

After waiting an hour over check-in time, we were taken to our rooms. The room is fairly small, but with very comfortable beds. If you have more than one piece of luggage, good luck finding somewhere to put it. There is one small rack that will fit one suitcase. Your only other option is the desk. There is no view,... More

My mom and I just took our very first trip to NYC and we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on 45th st. for 4 nights. The staff was very friendly and they always had a smile and a hello whenever we left the hotel or returned. Check-in was quick, and easy. They gave us a map of the city... More

We loved the location. If it is your first trip to New York then this is the place to be. The front desk was helpful, and it is SO central it is unbelievable. We are headed back for our second trip their this summer and we will pick this hotel again.

Hotel was great location. Very effective air con (it was hot and humid in NYC at the time). Slept really well (didn't want to leave the room at times!). LCD TV with hundreds of channels, good size room. Clean bathroom. Very friendly staff. Pleasant and tasty free breakfast in morning. 5 mins walk to Times Square, seconds from 5th Avenue.... More

There is no doubt that decent NY hotel prices are excessive but we feel we got a good deal for our 4 day trip to NY. The location is perfect, very central and easy to get to. I would say this HI Express provides above average accommodation and an excellent buffet breakfast for a reasonable price. The only downside was... More

The hotel is very clean, rooms feel new, staff is courteous and very helpful and friendly. I suppose the rooms are small, but what do you expect for $200 a night in Times Square? You really cannot beat the location. I would highly recommend.

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
