if you don't want to spend a lot on where you sleep but want to have little more privacy, this place may be for you. Making reservation has a few more steps than hotels and payment is cash only. There are many rules and requirements. But, the rooms(I know only three out of all) are very big with sunny windows... More

Do not hesitate about staying at the House of Herald Square on 31st Street. Take the leap of faith, pay that deposit up front and get ready for an elite experience that transforms you from a plebian tourist enduring a typical crowded hotel existence to a pampered Manhattanite. From the genuine warm welcome our hostess, Aiko, extended to us, to... More

The price is cheap but a room is so clean and cozy which was renovated recently. I could go to Manhattan from here easily. Kitchen appliances, a hair dryer, shower room are available so you can spend a comfortable time while you are staying.

Booking process all the way to check in is unconventional, but safe and always contactable. Read what they send you and you are just fine! Rooms are basically individual rooms in apartment buildings across Manhattan. Some have a private bath. We stayed at the 34th street apartment - ensuite room. Which was great and comfortable. Location was brilliant and within... More

the apartment location is very good, the apartment is well equipped, have kitchen and bathroom all clean and tidy, the mattress is good, i stay for 5 nights, 3 nights in master room, and 2 nights in another room with shared bathroom, the master room is really good as you have your own bathroom and very convenient, and the other... I agree that the check in process might seem bizarre but the Korean town location is a best value. Walking distance to most of the attractions in NYC: broadway shows, Time Square, Empire State Building is right around the corner and you name it. During our stay we only took the subway to Wall Street and the Mets. The roof... More

It's definitely not your usual hotel room, and some would find the check in process bizarre, but it's hard to fault the location and price. As others have mentioned, this is a converted apartment in a residential tower close to Broadway and the Empire State Building. Our room had a shared bathroom, but it was as good as ours, despite... Stayed here for 5 days and 4 nights. The booking process is very different from a conventional hotel but many of my questions were well answered. The location of the building is very close to all the major subway lines, restaurants and shopping. It was a great home base to come back to. We shared a bathroom with one other... More

After dozens of trips to New York in the past 15 years, I know that finding a decent place to stay in Manhattan at an affordable price can be a real challenge. If you are willing to go with the "do it yourself" nature of the agreement (provide your own towels & amenities, no assistance on site after checking in)... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
