If the East village is where you want to be and you don't want to go out for every meal this simple but well appointed room will be a good fit. Having a mini kitchen allowed me to make a light breakfast or put a take out dinner onto a plate. Just more homey than a standard room. Clean with... More

The room we had in this boutique hotel in the East Village (Room 8) was adorable. It was small, as was expected, but well designed. It even had a kitchenette. It was apparent that management listened to some of the earlier complaints about street noise because the room came with two sets of ear plugs, too. Having grown up in... More

I have nothing to complain about and it was a fantastic stay. The room/apartment was clean and nice (exactly like the pictures). They emailed me the codes 2 days before and there was no problem with them. The desk was manned everyday that I was there and I was always greeted with a smile. I had no need for them... More

This hotel sits right above a noisy cafe that is open from 7am to midnight daily. Room #5 is literally sitting right above the speakers, so you can basically hear every single beat and word in the song. Its SUPER noisy to the point there is no way you can sleep until the cafe closes at night. If you like... More

I stayed at EVH for a week and could not recommend it highly enough. First to address some of the points raised in the reviews below - fresh towels were provided everyday as was housekeeping, the hotel doesn't charge to hold bags after check out, I had a shower door in my bathroom & there was no issue with flooding/leaking... Great location in the heart of East Village, considering accommodation in NYC is usually quiet costly and cramped, this was surprisingly cozy. Great value for money. Not far from underground and all commodities

This is a hip place to stay if you're in the East Village. The one problem is that the windows are probably single glazing so you hear everything on the street, so you will probably wake up at 4 in the morning due to some loud people or cars on the road. The bed is very comfortable. The shower isn't... More

The hotel is nice, the rooms are hip and nice. There is no 24 hours reception. But the staff never smiles. They charge for keeping the bags in storage, check in before 3 pm...etc. It felt like a scam.

This is not really a hotel, more apartments for people who are self sufficient. If you are a tourist or new to the city be warned this hotel does not have a reception or concierge- you have to find your own way around. We arrived at the 'hotel' early before check in, in the hope we could drop our bags... More

Apart from its location, I have nothing nice to say about this hotel. The initial receipt communication drawing our attention to the receipt from the Flatiron Hotel, was good because we were unaware of the sister relationship of the two hotels. The cleaners short changed us on towels, our shower only had a curtain which could not contain the water resulting... More

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
