We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The room was really small and everything compact. There is no elevator to go up, I suggest you book a room in advance and ask for first floor rooms. The lobby is not open 24 hours a day. On the other side, the neighbour is nice and the hotel inexpensive. We've never... More

So, let me start by stating that I used to live in Manhattan years ago. My boyfriend and I stayed at the East Village Hotel for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We drove down to the city from upstate NY and had the luxury of being able to PACK and not worry about luggage weight. One of the... More

I spent 4 nights in this hotel. This is not your typical hotel. The rooms are equipped with a small functional kitchen. The room does not have a closet to hang your clothing. Instead they have hooks on the wall. My room was very small (but ok for NYC), small bathroom, and they have no phone, no paper, no pen.... More

This hotel worked out very well for us. It is a little different as it is not staffed. You are given a code to get in the door from the street. There is a person there at weekends but generally you are on your own. It is very clean and you have all that you need but it is very... More

My husband and I mostly chose this hotel for the location, having previously stayed in the East Village, and the price. We stayed for 11 nights in April 2014. We had a few issues with this hotel, most of which I think had to do with them running the place on a tight budget. Firstly, we arrived off a very... More

Our experience with this hotel was really good! Despite the fact the rooms are quite small there is still enough place for two persons whose aim is not to stay in the hotel for the whole day but just to sleep at nights and wander around NYC at daytime. BTW Iits location is great - just in three blocks from... More

We choose The East Village Hotel mostly for its location. Located at the corners of 1st Ave. and 9th St made it a very convenient spots for our trip. We had read some of the reviews before booking and decided that this was a place for us. Things to know...there is no elevator but there are only three floors of... More

Room is fine, bed is small. If you are 6 foot, your feet will hang over the edge. NO Elevator, all rooms are upstairs. Not sure how they got around the accessibility laws, but the only way from the lobby to the rooms is up the stairs. They lobby is only staff during the day. Late arrivals need to call... More

Very cosy rooms, clean and rather spacy for NYC standards Great location, lots of pubs, restaurants etc in walking distance No elevator, which is ok as clearly stated in advance by the hotel But : really noisy due to very badly insulating windows (vs. a very "active" street life) plus a very noisy heating unit fixed on the wall right... Very nice, clean, well-located great value hotel for NYC! It was reasonably quiet, given that it is on a busy street corner. New heater/air unit was super quiet. Nice kitchen. The hotel should warn you that there is no staff at front desk and that you need a code to open the front door and your room BEFORE you get... More
