We choose The East Village Hotel mostly for its location. Located at the corners of 1st Ave. and 9th St made it a very convenient spots for our trip. We had read some of the reviews before booking and decided that this was a place for us. Things to know...there is no elevator but there are only three floors of... More

Room is fine, bed is small. If you are 6 foot, your feet will hang over the edge. NO Elevator, all rooms are upstairs. Not sure how they got around the accessibility laws, but the only way from the lobby to the rooms is up the stairs. They lobby is only staff during the day. Late arrivals need to call... More

Very cosy rooms, clean and rather spacy for NYC standards Great location, lots of pubs, restaurants etc in walking distance No elevator, which is ok as clearly stated in advance by the hotel But : really noisy due to very badly insulating windows (vs. a very "active" street life) plus a very noisy heating unit fixed on the wall right... Very nice, clean, well-located great value hotel for NYC! It was reasonably quiet, given that it is on a busy street corner. New heater/air unit was super quiet. Nice kitchen. The hotel should warn you that there is no staff at front desk and that you need a code to open the front door and your room BEFORE you get... More

My daughter lives in the East Village. I've stayed in a few other hotels in the area but discovered this for the first time. Very happy. No frills check in. Front Desk just that, a desk in the entranceway and not manned full time. I arrived a little late so I had to call to get a code to get... More

This was the perfect spot for us this Fall. It was super clean and well appointed (gotta love Ikea), and just what we were looking for. It's in a superb location, right in the heart of everything happening in the East Village. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this spot. My brother and I were travelling for an extended weekend and wanted something... More

The lack of reception can be disconcerting. Room was clean, comfortable, we'll furnished and made a good use of minimal space. Refrigerator, microwave, kitchen sink, dishes, flatware, etc was convenient. Fourth floor walk up not so good for everyone. I appreciated the extra excercise, but not everyone would. Great neighborhood vibe, lots of shops, restaurants and coffee shops. Convenient cafe... More

We booked 7 nights at this hotel through booking.com based on the location and price. Overall the hotel was great but there were a few things that could have been better. It was a shame as it could have been so much better if a few small things were improved. The main problem was the lack of a reception. When... More

This is a great hotel if you are comfortable traveling and don't need a lot of hand holding. There is no doorman (or concierge), the receptionist is very part time, there is no parking, and it is a walk up. There is a good chance that to get in to the building no one will be there to check you... More

LADIES TRAVELING ALONE BEWARE THIS PLACE HAS NO FRONT DESK. They say it is perfectly safe but with the location and assaults happening around the city, I did NOT feel safe. The code to get into the main door is displayed in the lobby for anyone to see. NOT SAFE. The room was dirty, THE BED HAD A SINK HOLE... More
