We booked this hotel as it was the best value we could find for being in the center of Manhattan (Times Square area). No breakfast is included but there are 100s of eateries in the area, including a deli next door. Prices are high in this area so we recommend buying from the food cart on the corner of 45th... More

Enjoyed a very restful 6 nights at Hotel St. James. We found the room to be clean, the bed comfortable, and the overall experience great. There is nothing flashy about this hotel, but all of the basics are covered and there is a definite charm to the building. The staff accommodated an early check-in upon our arrival with no issue... This hotel is in a perfect location. Times square was so close! Our room was huge with 2 beds. Clean and so comfy! We were on 7th floor and had no issues with outside noise. Free Wifi was great. Front desk staff were lovely especially Joey, he was smitten with my baby and was so nice to her every time... More

great location, nice rooms! very clean! the staff is very nice, specially Joey, one of the hotel concierge. He showed himself willing to help and in good humor. He answered all our questions and requests. We stayed in the 11th floor, the room was perfect. not noisy at all.

We stayed at the hotel for 7 nights. A party of 5 with 3 rooms. We are from the UK. We wanted a budget hotel in midtown. We managed to get 7 nights plus flights on a good airline from the UK for just over £1100 each. Not bad for August and the best value hotel we could find. location... More

We were pleasantly surprised. It's right in the middle of everything in Times Square. I recommend this hotel if you're on a budget.. They do need ice machines or refrigerator in room.. There's a couple of really good small restaurants right next door as well..

Me and my better half enjoyed 11 days in NYC. Was staying at St. James the whole time. Great location, staff and hotel in the middle of Times Square! You can by good, healthy breakfast next door. The room was clean and we enjoyed our stay. Will book this hotel again next time!

Close to everything , at a stone's throw from Times Square, the Rockefeller bdg and the Grand Central, this old fashioned hotel offers good accomodations at a very reasonable price. A starbucks and a couple of deli in the same block, are perfect spots for a quick breakfast or a snack.

My fiancé and I were looking for somewhere close to the action of Times Square and a place to stay within walking distance to most of NYC major attractions for our first time to New York. We found it!!! The Hotel St James is an old building but full of charm. The concierge Joey is a 'true' New Yorker and... More

First a note about the rating: I ended up giving it an Average because it was pretty shabby and lacked amenities I am used to in chain hotels. But considering the location and price, I seriously considered Very Good. I’m not sure if I would stay there again, but would think about it. It's been said in many past reviews... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
