Let me begin by saying my wife & I travel a good deal out of state for pleasure. In the past six months have traveled to SF, Chicago, Baltimore, DC and now NYC. We don't stay at the Four Seasons but neither at Motel 6. We like a good hotel with a friendly staff, good value and location. This hotel... More

This is an older style hotel. Definitely not luxury but if you are the sort of traveller who is more interested in the place you are visiting rather than having a fancy room then this is for you. No room service and no breakfast but here is a great deli next door for everything you could want. No safe in... More

If you are planning a trip to NYC then you know there are so many hotels, prices, districts, and other factors you have to consider before booking your trip. I spent months looking at hotels and reviews before we finally choose Hotel St. James. We are on a budget and this hotel perfectly fit into our price range. The area... More

We spent 8 days here in April/May 2015 and enjoyed our stay very much. The location is excellent and near Times Square and the Theatre District. It is not fancy or new but the rooms are very clean and the room we had was spacious and very comfortable with a great bed, an excellent bathroom and plenty of storage for... More

Whilst very close to St James, that's about it. New York is on the verge of a drought yet you had to run the shower for 10 to 15 MINUTES to get hot water. The first night we rang and said we had no hot water, they responded, oh you have to run it for 10 to 15 minutes. Our... More

One block from Times Square, not far from Central Park (morning walks). Quiet, pleasant hotel with excellent staff. OK, basic rooms, good cleanliness. What more do you really need? Excellent breakfast next door. Recommended.

A decent value for NYC. The rooms are pretty basic but clean. No amenities at this hotel. The front desk staff were WONDERFUL as was the concierge though. It is very close to most theaters and Times Square so a good jumping off place. Also close to Hell's Kitchen where the food is excellent and much less expensive than in... More

I was a bit worried about this hotel as it was a great price for the location but no worries at all it was fab. The room itself is rather basic but clean and cleaned every day. The staff were very friendly and helpful and always on hand to help. Our room was 808 and at the back of the... More

Small hotel in Times Square. No amenities like coffee, ice, drink machines, but it's clean and near everything - Broadway, restaurants, subway, etc. My friend and I have been staying there for at least six years.

Hotel St. James is a good basic hotel situated in the heart of New York only a 3 minute walk from Times Square. It is a room only Hotel and has a lounge area in reception but has no restaurant or bar. this is no inconvenience as there are plenty of places to eat and drink close at hand. If... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
