This is an older hotel with all the charm and character that brings. However, the rooms seem to have been recently upgraded and beds were comfortable, AC worked, bathrooms in good shape. Maid cleaned regularly. Front desk staff were helpful and friendly. Concierge was helpful and friendly. We got a great rate on this hotel so I can't complain. It... More

Searching many hotels in Times Square for a moderate price and found Hotel St. James. Great location! Close to everything! Walking distance! Nice room. Overall a clean Hotel. Service was good. No problem with any traffic noise as we were not facing the front. If your on a budget and want to be where all the action is in Times... More

We stayed at this hotel for a week in July (2 people). Chose this hotel because of the good deal and the reviews from on here. The front lobby was clean and newer than the rest of the hotel. We arrived at noon and were able to check in straight away with Joey, an excellent customer service representative. Took less... More

My friend and i spent two weeks here and we would definitely come back again. The rooms were clean and neat. The concierge bar one employee were very friendly and helpful. There is no food served at the hotel but you do have two delis right next door one open 24hrs the other not. Times square is at the end... More

I recently stayed at this hotel with a couple of friends, and will never go back. Other then a couple of the staff, most very extremely rude. We had to change rooms from the second to the fifth floor because we had bugs in the shower, dirty towels, and cold water. We also ordered a cot which took two phone... More

Stayed there with our daughter and her boyfriend who were up from Florida. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is older but the rooms are neat and very clean, especially the bathrooms. There are restaurants and bars a few doors down and you're a couple of blocks from Times Square. Nice iconic Hotel in a great place.... More

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night while in NYC to attend a show at Madison Square Gardens. First, the rooms are very basic. If you are looking for something modern or fancy, this is not the place. But if all you need is a clean room to sleep in, you will be fine here. The... More

We had a wonderful 7 night stay at Hotel St James. It is perfectly situated for Times Square and the theatre district but just far enough away to be nice and quiet (located between 6th & 7th Ave). The room was a good size and the shower was good. Our room was very quiet (located at the back of the... More

Stayed at the Hotel St. James on my birthday trip last year and chose this hotel because I wanted to be near to Bryant Park and there are very few hotels around there. Location was even better than we thought- Times Square is literally at the end of the street and the hotel acted as a great hub to go... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
