The hotel is ideally located in the Meatpacking district with a lot of nice restaurants, bars and shops within walking district. This is really the great plus. The hotel is a design hotel but the rooms were quite normal american hotel style. For a design hotel I expect the rooms cooler and simpler. The furniture looked quite used and the... More

A nice hotel where I have been staying a number of times over the years. However, on my last stay, staff attitude was horrendous - hardly communicating, "entry control", arrogant. I still adore the location, the fantastic rooftop pool and lounge - however: prepare to look up nostrils. For my part, I just dont need this in the future..... plenty... More

Dear montgolfier, Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it as it allows us the opportunity to see where we need improvement. I am sorry that your last stay has left you feeling dissatisfied with our service. The issues you mentioned are not indictive of the philosophy we champion at Hotel Gansevoort. I hope you will consider giving us another... More

If you have read some of the reviews of this hotel/club, you probably already have an idea of the type of place this is. All "poof" with no real substance. My wife and I went with several other couples for drinks before having dinner across the street at the Spice Market. The view is spectacular from the bar deck. We... More

Dear detulman, I was disappointed to learn of your experience at our rooftop bar. I would like to assure you that that your experience is not indicative of the service philosophy we champion here at the Hotel Gansevoort. I ask that you please do not judge us all by the lack of hospitality of one person and come back and... More

this used to be the most posh hotel in tribeca, used to be until the standard just across the road obove the highline directly situated at the hudson opened. I am sorry it might sound unfair, however everything these day regarding hotel must stand up against thestandard. rooms are modern and clean and have a nice view. they the have... More

Okay. This information will make me sound horribly superficial and may not be immediately relevant, but let me start by saying this. I'm 42 years-old, athletically built, of average height, fairly articulate, and in my opinion, I dress reasonably well. I'm an owner and Creative Director at a medium-sized advertising agency that employs 150 people. While I wouldn't say that... More

Dear OneNineSixEight, I do apologize that your stay with us was not what you expected. While I do understand your frustration at our security procedures, please understand that they are put in place for the securiy of our guests, both hotel and rooftop. It is not the intention of our security team to casue our guests any humiliation, and I... More

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times over the last year and a half - I was in NY on business - and it's been great every time. When I wanted company, I visited the lobby or the pool bar, and when I didn't want company, my room was really comfortable. Special mention to Bogdan at the front... More

I love the meat packing district and the gansevoort hotel perfectly embody the ambiance and classiness of the neighborhood. The service was above average, both in terms of concierge services but also in terms of the patience it must have taken housekeeping to tidy up at room filled with one too many shopping bags and supplementary girl things. The gansevoort... More

Paid top dollar $475 a night average for a truly disappointing experience. Very trendy location in the meat packing district which was great but the hotel really doesn't live up to the location. For the same money I would say go across the street to Soho House which looks after it's clientele. Major downside here is service. They happen to... More

I choose the Gansevoort because it was the location for a family wedding reception, and it definitely lived up to the hype! It was well worth paying a little more for a Deluxe Room on a higher floor, because the neighborhood does get rambunctious in the wee hours. Plus we scored a great river view! We really enjoyed the great... More

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
