Booked a one night getaway with our 9 year old twins. Saw a bunch of sites then took cab to hotel around 3pm. Although we were early, front desk staff was professional and friendly. Upon arrival, they upgraded us (without us asking) to a (very spacious for NYC)-suite-that had an ensuite bedroom with a beautiful soaking tub and separate shower/toilet... More

There is not a more convenient place to stay for a party weekend in Manhattan than here. Located within walking distance to a dozen great restaurants and nightclubs, if that weren't enough, you also have incredible service. Every staff member is attentive to making your stay comfortable, from cigarette runs to fast room service, this place makes sure you are... More

Bathtub didn't drain which made for a terrible shower; Body Lotions and Shampoo appeared only half full, as if they left it for us from the last guest. The bar upstairs has a leaky roof, so while it's raining outside, it's raining INSIDE! Great location for this really fun neighborhood; However, read the fine print - hotel restaurant adds 18%... We have had the pleasure of staying here some 6 or 7 times, for periods from 7 - 14 nights. On each occasion we have enjoyed very comfortable, well furnished, relatively spacious (by most NYC standards) and impeccably maintained and cleaned rooms. The help and friendliness of all staff is to be commended. Before we started staying at The Gansevoort... More

Great location - especially now that the High Line is open. Otherwise a perfectly OK hotel that seems more interested in its trendy bar brigade watch out on Saturday nights) than hotel guests. Reasonable value for Manhattan.

Room and bath were sleek, well-appointed, and comfortable. The rooftop pool and bar provide great views; at night it's a favorite with 30-somethings who line the sidewalk to get in. Guests go up immediately. The staff is helpful beyond the call--they used their own computers to print out a boarding pass and mailed back a personal item left at the... More

I was lookinhg forward to stay at the hotel following recommendations from friends. Booked an average priced room for NY standards - described as a superior room ... - through internet. Staying in West Village

    Neighborhood Profile
    West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
