i'm sure it's not grown ups. i'll know next time not to book a hotel that isn't sure if its a high-end hotel (the prices sure suggest it) or a club for wanna-be hipsters. i chose this hotel solely for its outdoor roof top pool (it is the 4th of july weekend) and we've tried several times to go and... Dear Wasabiwabi, Thank you for your review. I am sorry that our hotel was not what you expected. Most of our guests, regardless of age, do stay with us during the summer to have access to the pool. May I suggest giving us another try during a less hectic time of year? During the early fall, the weather is still... More

My tenth stay at the Gansevoort.....and it seems to never disappoint. From the redesigned lobby, to the wonderful rooms, to the professional, friendly staff - this hotel is among the best in the country. It's modern and hip, yet doesn't try to be 'cool'. It just is....!

We arrived at the hotel approximately 12:30 pm. We were told our room was not ready yet, but we could leave our luggage (in a designated area). That was fine because we had plans for the day. When we returned, we were told our luggage would be brought up to the room. It took a little longer than we would... More

Like this hotel. Love the service, the location, and the scene. They are super dog-friendly. Had a suite. It was trashed: cigarette stains on carpet, holes in carpet, and stains on shabby-looking furniture. This was not a cleanliness issue. It was a facilities upkeep issue. The hotel is showing some wear and tear, judging by my room. It is possible... More

Dear MARworld, Thanks for your feedback. We truly appreciate our guest feedback as it gives us the opportunity where we can improve. I am happy to say that we have just renovated our lobby and will soon be making much needed changes throughout the hotel. More

I didn't get a great impression on arrival at The Gansevoort. Myself and my partner had 6 bags between us and none of the bellboys bothered helping us, maybe they were busy but whatever, we struggled in ourselves. I don't usually need them, but the one time I thought I could do with some help, I couldn't get arrested! Not... More

Dear ChuckySwizzler, Thank you for your review. You are one of the few guests who stay with us that actually utilized the Hydro Therapy spa pools. They are a wonderful "extra" amenity we provide for our guests. I am sorry that your stay wasn't all that you hoped it would be. While we do have a wonderful team, I agree... More

The room was great, we were on the 8th floor and the room was quiet and well set up...we had read that the hotel staff were not friendly and perhaps surly and I would have to agree...at no point did I feel welcome or that they were there to help...the hotel has a lovely roof top pool and bar....unfortunately, this... Dear maxtedandlily, Thanks for your review. I am glad your enjoyed the hotel facilities including the rooftop pool and bar. While we are definitely a full service hotel, we do have a wonderful rooftop bar that attracts an international crowd. It is part of what makes our hotel unique from all others in NYC. More

I love the location of the Gansevoort in the meatpacking district, near great shopping, restaurants and nightlife. The hotel is modern & trendy, but looking a bit worn. Our room was decent size (for NYC standards), but looked like it had been partied hard in over the years. The carpet was worn, stained, and torn and the furniture was looking... More

Dear Menezes, Thank you for the feedback of your stay. I am sorry that your stay was not satisfactory. While we do have a very popular rooftop bar, we are certainly not a "Party Hotel". Dear SarkitaG, Thank you for the review of your stay at Hotel Gansevoort. While I do sympathize with you, please understand that by law in New York State, it is up to the server and bartender to make the decision to stop service to anyone they believe to be intoxicated. Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
