This is a nice little boutique hotel 2 blocks from the UN on Manhattan's east side. The good: The staff were all very warm and friendly - front desk, doormen, restaurant and bar staff. The full breakfast included with our room was wonderful. The amenities in the room were excellent - nice bathrobes, high end toiletries, TV, DVD player, even... more

The hotel is definitely not a luxury hotel but if you can get a good price for it it is decent, in a good location, clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. We paid 300 USD for our room which I found expensive for what's on offer. Rooms are very small (at least our two double-bed twin room was)... more

I booked a night at The Alex Hotel with my daughter to celebrate a special birthday. When booking the reservation (at full price through the hotel Web site), I asked for a high floor with a view. When we arrived, someone was checking in next to us, and was told by the reservation agent that there were many rooms available... more

This is a great little hotel with a contemporary flair. The staff were very friendly and the doorman remembered my name for the length of my stay. I would highly recommend it. more

Just got back from a 10 day stay in New York at The Alex. Its a hidden gem in that bustling city, with a location that puts you in the center yet offers you a wonderful taste of true New York and the buzz of the city. The hotel is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World and... more

The hotel room was spartan but fine, however, I honestly do not understand how a highrise hotel can operate with service carts and personnel constantly tieing up the elevators? On more than one occasion it took over 10 minutes to reach the lobby from the 25th floor, literally more

sub-standard

If it was billed as a generic two to three star hotel for travelling salesmen, this would be a perfectly fine place. But since it is supposed to be an upscale hotel, I was suprised to find pretty much every single piece of furniture in the room severely chipped, the soap holder in the chipped bathtub consisting of loose wires,... more

I stayed here for a work trip. I didn't spend a ton of time there due to the nature of the work I had to do but it was a nice place to come back to to recover. The room I was in was on the 6th floor. This particular room didn't have much of a view but it was... more

This hotel and the staff were absolutely splended. We could not have asked for anything better. The concierge, housekeeping, the doormen, even the staff in the restaurant exceeded our expectations. This will be my home away from home everytime I visit New York. more
