We had an excellent stay at the Colonial House, spotlessly clean and a very large suite. A private garden and great service. In Chelsea and walking distance to cafe's, galleries, restaurants. Priced right. I wouldn't hesitate to return...

Indeed, I had originally booked a 10 day stay at a large midtown hotel, then thought better of it and then found this place after much research. I was SO GLAD I chose to stay here.. The Colonial House Inns website is spot on and tells you exactly what to expect straight up. So there were no surprises re: stairs,... More

This was my second time staying at the Colonial House Inn. The staff were very friendly and helpful. When I checked in the staff made arrangements for a car service back to the airport for the day I was leaving. I stayed in a slightly larger room than before with my own bathroom. The room was clean and comfortable. The... More

Loved staying in this brownstone! We we only up the first flight of stairs so not that far to carry our luggage... People are complaining about having to carry their luggage up the stairs/lack of lift - but seriously - it is a brownstone, not a full blown hotel! Got a bit of attitude from the lady behind the desk... More

My wife and I planned a weekend trip to see the New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, and we wanted to stay at the 414 Hotel on 46th Street. We had stayed there twice before and found it very enjoyable. Unfortunately, they weren't able to fit us in, but they were kind enough to find us a... More

Great place. Perfect location, good breakfast of bagels, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, tea and coffee. Rooms are very small, hardly big enough to fit a bed and two suitcases. They are warm, though, and there is plenty of hot water. They were happy to look after our bags for the afternoon when we checked out. Interestingly, the hotel pamphlet advertises a... More

We recommend it. It is quiet which is nice in NY, very well situated (just next to a metro station), very clean, the bed is of very good quality (and I am picky) and it has a decent breakfast :-) if I remeber well you have to pay for WiFi

This was my second stay at the Colonial House Inn. It is one of my favorite places to stay in NYC. I suppose someday "price will be no object" (maybe) and I might opt for lodgings that are a bit more luxe but as long as I am traveling on a budget, Colonial House will always be one of my... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
