It's been our second time at Colonial House in Chelsea and not the last time. Super friendly and helpful staff welcomed and supported us right from the beginning to when we left. Beds are very comfortable, rooms are quite and clean.Breakfast with its wide selection of fruits, yoghurts, best ever bagels and muffins and cereals has everything you wish for... More

We recommend it. It is quiet which is nice in NY, very well situated (just next to a metro station), very clean, the bed is of very good quality (and I am picky) and it has a decent breakfast :-) if I remeber well you have to pay for WiFi

This was my second stay at the Colonial House Inn. It is one of my favorite places to stay in NYC. I suppose someday "price will be no object" (maybe) and I might opt for lodgings that are a bit more luxe but as long as I am traveling on a budget, Colonial House will always be one of my... More

Saying that finding cost efficient group accommodation in Manhattan is a challenge would be an understatement. Prices decrease as you venture into Harlem or New Jersey yet for many the main goal is to stay in the heart of it all and experience as much as possible in a short time period. With some extensive search we were able to... More

This converted brownstone is a great way to spend an overnight or 2 in New York. It's located in the Chelsea neighborhood and provides a clean (although small) room with a nice continental breakfast in the morning.

We arrived late after a long day post- cruise disembarkation and flight from Seattle and the haul up the stairs with our heavy cases did not put us in the best of moods! however it is set in a charming brownstone in a very quiet neighbourhood. Easy walking distance to the High Line, Chelsea Markets, subway and less than $10... More

With its individual rooms and the personal touch at the service level the Colonial Inn really stands out from all the Hiltons, Ritz' and other chain hotels. Our favorite spot was the roof terrace that funnily nobody else used. Where else can you enjoy carry out dinner, laying on long chairs with a view on the skyline. Only drawback was... More

We look forward to our return visits to Colonial House, our true home away from home. The holiday decorations & warm welcome from all the staff are a true charm! We loved the new art work throughout the house & free coffee & tea all day is wonderful.

The Colonial House Inn ticked all the boxes for us. We stayed 4 nights. Good price, clean rooms and bathrooms, comfortable beds, great breakfast, attentive staff and the Chelsea location is just perfect for exploring NYC. Subway stop just a half block away but why go underground. The only way to see this amazing city is to walk. It's an... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
