t's reasonable relatively and very convenient in NEW YORK. It's friendly of course. When saying one dissatisfaction, it'll be whether it's free wifi and it's crowded in the evening. NEW YORKでは、比較的リーズナブルだし、めちゃ便利です。 もちろんフレンドリー ひとつ不満といえば無料wifi かなり夜は混み合います

I am a native New Yorker who now lives in the 'burbs of Rockland County (about 45 minutes from the city). I still visit the city quite a bit, but every once in a while I find that spending the night is so much better than dealing with trains, buses, or the inability to have a few drinks because I'm... We stayed at The Gem Nov 22 to 27. We got a great rate for our stay so we found the hotel to be quite adequate for what we paid. It's nicely located very near the F line which, with a transfer or two can get you anywhere across the boroughs. Desk staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room was... More

For New York standards this hotel is cheap. So do not expect to much. Rooms are really small and somewhat outdated. Lotst of small damages in the room. However the rooms are clean, staff is very friendly and helpfull. The hotel is located near the subway and within 15 minutes you're at times square. So for New York standards a... More

Hotel is located near the F line, so easy to reach from Newark airport. It's right next to a small park and a huge Whole Foods store. Reception was extremely friendly and helpful. Room on the third floor had two double beds for two adults, which made it really crammed. Beds, however, were wonderful. Room had a flat tv, microwave,... More

So maybe it's just the location--fronting dirty, ugly East Houston--but I found myself underwhelmed with this hotel. The furnishings are tired, with pilled linnens and cracks in the tub--the tub that provided no hot water for my shower this morning. Reception was friendly, but every time I saw the gentleman at the desk, he was in deep conversation with the... More

Stayed here for the first time on a business trip - switched from Sheraton. Let me start off by saying this is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. It may have been when it was first opened but it is now in need of a little TLC. The room was clean and I had a double bed - I... More

I booked a stay at the GEM Soho through Choice Hotel points. GEM is part of Choice's 'Ascend' collection, which are mostly upscale hotels throughout the US. This hotel turned out to be anything but a GEM. Because I used points, the front desk staff put me in a room in the basement, with a window on the roof to... More

Small modern room. TV remote a bit confusing/clock radio a bit confusing-simple instructions would help. Room modern, basic, clean. Front desk staff very helpful and friendly. Location and staff and proximity to F train/whole foods/broadway/east village/soho/nyu make it awesome.
