Really enjoyed this location. However I want to caution you: If you're looking for a top-of-the-line, all exclusive resort, you won't find this here. It's sort of out of the way, doesn't have much to offer in terms of exotic rooms. HOWEVER, when traveling with a hostel I'm mostly looking for a clean room and they provided that. The customer... Myself and a friend backpacked across the US for 3 months last year. Our first stop was NYC. Grid system is a god send in the states so really easy to find everything. Got to the hotel/hostel and we're neither blown away nor disapointed. It is basic and perhaps a little small. We went up to our room, we had... More

Our room was basically a 'bed', a sink and two chairs but it is within walking distance of the subway and very cheap. If you, like me, plan on spending all day (and all your money) in the city and only need a place to crash at night, the Chelsea Highline is ideal.

Warning, Warning! Seriously, never stay here! We decided to stay longer in NYC, and there were two days where we had not a place to stay. Same day we found this place for an ok price. We were in a hurry and needed a place to stay, so we booked a room for two nights. I wish we had known... More

Very friendly and helpful staff member, and good location on manhatten island close to the action. Wifi only in reception and not in rooms. Breakfast and coffee could rather be taken away for a decrease in price.”

I regret saying that this was one of the most disappointing lodging experiences I've ever had. Upon arrival, you get a little confused because the outside sign displays a "184 Terminal Hotel" and not the name advertised. When you get to the reception/common area, you are greeted with a 3PM check-in only notice, and you have to leave your luggage... More

I'm usually pretty easy going and can see the little good things in bad places but... No, just no ! To everything about this place. It's shityy location, horrible facility's. There is one bathroom per floor. That's one toilet too about 15 rooms with at least 4 people per room. I stayed there because he as travelling alone and backpackers... More

Only come here if you are staying for a few nights ONLY! - They never reply to mails. - Dirty bathrooms, even for a hostel. Also, it seems that there's only one hairdryer for the whole hostel. - Pretty close to the Fire Department, expect occasional loud noises. - Lousy and irresponsable manager. (Carlos Rosario) - Free breakfast? Grab whatever... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
